Sura List » Ibrahim

14/Ibrahim-1: Aliflamra kitabun anzalnahu ilayka litukhrija alnnasa mina alththulumati ila alnnoori biithni rabbihim ila sirati alAAazeezi alhameedi
Alif-Lâm-Râ. [These disjointed letters are one of the miracles of the Qur’ân, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings] (This is) a Book which We have sent down to you that you may bring forth the men from utter darkness into the light. by their Lord’s Permission-to the Path of the All-Mighty, the Praised One.

14/Ibrahim-2: Allahi allathee lahu ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi wawaylun lilkafireena min AAathabin shadeedin
(Of) Allah, Whose is whatever in the heavens and whatever in the earth; and woe to the disbelievers from a severe torment.

14/Ibrahim-3: Allatheena yastahibboona alhayata alddunya AAala alakhirati wayasuddoona AAan sabeeli Allahi wayabghoonaha AAiwajan olaika fee dalalin baAAeedin
(To) those who love this world’s life more than the Hereafter and hinder (men) from the Way of Allah and seek to make it crooked; these are in a remote Misguidance.

14/Ibrahim-4: Wama arsalna min rasoolin illa bilisani qawmihi liyubayyina lahum fayudillu Allahu man yashao wayahdee man yashao wahuwa alAAazeezu alhakeemu
And We did not send any Messenger but with the language of his people, so that he might explain to them clearly (by their own language); then Allah leaves in Misguidance whom He wills (those who do not wish to reach Him) and He makes whom He wills reach Guidance (those who wish to reach Him) And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.

14/Ibrahim-5: Walaqad arsalna moosa biayatina an akhrij qawmaka mina alththulumati ila alnnoori wathakkirhum biayyami Allahi inna fee thalika laayatin likulli sabbarin shakoorin
And certainly We sent Moses with Our Verses (Signs, Communications…) (saying): Bring forth your people from utter darkness into the light and remind them of the days of Allah (cause them to remember during the days of Allah); most surely there are Signs in this for every patient, grateful one.

14/Ibrahim-6: Waith qala moosa liqawmihi othkuroo niAAmata Allahi AAalaykum ith anjakum min ali firAAawna yasoomoonakum sooa alAAathabi wayuthabbihoona abnaakum wayastahyoona nisaakum wafee thalikum balaon min rabbikum AAatheemun
And when Moses said to his people: Call to mind Allah’s Blessing to you when He delivered you from Pharaoh’s people, who were oppressing you with a severe torment, and were slaughtering your sons and letting your women alive; and in this there was a great trial from your Lord.

14/Ibrahim-7: Waith taaththana rabbukum lain shakartum laazeedannakum walain kafartum inna AAathabee lashadeedun
And when your Lord proclaimed: If you are grateful, I would certainly give to you more (blessing), and if you are ungrateful (if you disbelieve) My torment is truly severe.

14/Ibrahim-8: Waqala moosa in takfuroo antum waman fee alardi jameeAAan fainna Allaha laghaniyyun hameedun
And Moses said: If you are ungrateful (if you disbelieve), you and those on earth all together, most surely Allah is Rich (Free of all needs, Self-Sufficient), Praised One.

14/Ibrahim-9: Alam yatikum nabao allatheena min qablikum qawmi noohin waAAadin wathamooda waallatheena min baAAdihim la yaAAlamuhum illa Allahu jaathum rusuluhum bialbayyinati faraddoo aydiyahum fee afwahihim waqaloo inna kafarna bima orsiltum bihi wainna lafee shakkin mimma tadAAoonana ilayhi mureebun
Has there not come to you the news of those who were before you, the people of Noah, ‘Âd, and Thamoud and those who came after them? None knows them but Allah. Their Messengers came to them with the clear arguments, but they thrust their hands into their mouths (biting them from anger) and said: Surely we disbelieve in that with which you are sent, and most surely we are in serious doubt as to that to which you invite us.

14/Ibrahim-10: Qalat rusuluhum afee Allahi shakkun fatiri alssamawati waalardi yadAAookum liyaghfira lakum min thunoobikum wayuakhkhirakum ila ajalin musamman qaloo in antum illa basharun mithluna tureedoona an tasuddoona AAamma kana yaAAbudu abaona fatoona bisultanin mubeenin
Their Messengers said: Is there any doubt about Allah, the Creator of the heavens and the earth? He calls you that He may forgive you your faults (sins) and respite you till a named (appointed) term. They said: You are nothing but mortals like us; You wish to turn us away from what our fathers used to worship; bring us therefore some clear authority (miracle).

14/Ibrahim-11: Qalat lahum rusuluhum in nahnu illa basharun mithlukum walakinna Allaha yamunnu AAala man yashao min AAibadihi wama kana lana an natiyakum bisultanin illa biithni Allahi waAAala Allahi falyatawakkali almuminoona
Their Messengers said to them: We are nothing but mortals (human beings) like yourselves, but Allah bestows (His) Blessings on whom He wills of His servants and it is not (possible) for us that we should bring you any authority (proof, miracle) except by Allah’s Permission; and in Allah (Alone) let the believers put their trust.

14/Ibrahim-12: Wama lana alla natawakkala AAala Allahi waqad hadana subulana walanasbiranna AAala ma athaytumoona waAAala Allahi falyatawakkali almutawakkiloona
Why should we not put our trust in Allah? And He has indeed guided us to our ways; and certainly we would bear with patience your persecution of us and in Allah let those who trust, put their trust.

14/Ibrahim-13: Waqala allatheena kafaroo lirusulihim lanukhrijannakum min ardina aw lataAAoodunna fee millatina faawha ilayhim rabbuhum lanuhlikanna alththalimeena
And those who disbelieved said to their Messengers: We will most certainly drive you forth from our land, or else you shall come back into our religion. So their Lord revealed to them: Most certainly We will destroy the wrongdoers.

14/Ibrahim-14: Walanuskinannakumu alarda min baAAdihim thalika liman khafa maqamee wakhafa waAAeedi
And most certainly We will settle you in the land after them; this is for him who fears standing in My Presence and who fears My threat.

14/Ibrahim-15: Waistaftahoo wakhaba kullu jabbarin AAaneedin
And they (the Messengers) sought victory (conquest) and every obstinate tyrant was frustrated.

14/Ibrahim-16: Min waraihi jahannamu wayusqa min main sadeedin
Behind him is Hell and he is made to drink boiling, festering water.

14/Ibrahim-17: YatajarraAAuhu wala yakadu yuseeghuhu wayateehi almawtu min kulli makanin wama huwa bimayyitin wamin waraihi AAathabun ghaleethun
He will sip it unwillingly and will not be able to swallow it agreeably, and death will come to him from every side, yet he cannot die and there is a vehement torment behind him.

14/Ibrahim-18: Mathalu allatheena kafaroo birabbihim aAAmaluhum karamadin ishtaddat bihi alrreehu fee yawmin AAasifin la yaqdiroona mimma kasaboo AAala shayin thalika huwa alddalalu albaAAeedu
The parable (likeness) of those who disbelieve in their Lord is that their works are as ashes, on which the wind blows furiously on a stormy day; they have no power over any thing but of what they have earned; Behold! This is the remote Misguidance!

14/Ibrahim-19: Alam tara anna Allaha khalaqa alssamawati waalarda bialhaqqi in yasha yuthhibkum wayati bikhalqin jadeedin
Do you not see that Allah created the heavens and the earth with truth? If He wills, He can remove you and bring (into being) a new creation.

14/Ibrahim-20: Wama thalika AAala Allahi biAAazeezin
and this is not difficult for Allah.

14/Ibrahim-21: Wabarazoo lillahi jameeAAan faqala aldduAAafao lillatheena istakbaroo inna kunna lakum tabaAAan fahal antum mughnoona AAanna min AAathabi Allahi min shayin qaloo law hadana Allahu lahadaynakum sawaon AAalayna ajaziAAna am sabarna ma lana min maheesin
And they shall all come forth before Allah, then the weak shall say to those who were arrogant: Surely we were your followers, can you therefore avert from us any part of the torment of Allah? They would say: If Allah had guided us, we too would have guided you; it is the same to us whether we are impatient (we rage) or patient; there is no place for us to fly to.

14/Ibrahim-22: Waqala alshshaytanu lamma qudiya alamru inna Allaha waAAadakum waAAda alhaqqi wawaAAadtukum faakhlaftukum wama kana liya AAalaykum min sultanin illa an daAAawtukum faistajabtum lee fala taloomoonee waloomoo anfusakum ma ana bimusrikhikum wama antum bimusrikhiyya innee kafartu bima ashraktumooni min qablu inna alththalimeena lahum AAathabun aleemun
And Satan will say when the matter has been decided: Surely Allah promised you the promise of truth, and I gave you promises, then failed to keep them to you and I had no authority over you, except that I called you and you answered me, therefore do not blame me, but blame your own souls (yourselves); I cannot be your aider (now) nor can you be my aiders; surely I disbelieved in your associating me with Allah before; verily, there is a painful torment for the wrong-doers.

14/Ibrahim-23: Waodkhila allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati jannatin tajree min tahtiha alanharu khalideena feeha biithni rabbihim tahiyyatuhum feeha salamun
And those who believe (who are âmenû, who wish to reach Allah before dying) and do improving deeds (that improve the souls’ hearts) are made to enter Gardens, under which the rivers flow, to abide in them (forever) by their Lord’s Permission; their greeting therein is Peace (be upon you).

14/Ibrahim-24: Alam tara kayfa daraba Allahu mathalan kalimatan tayyibatan kashajaratin tayyibatin asluha thabitun wafarAAuha fee alssamai
Have you not considered how Allah sets forth a parable? A good (and clean) word is as a good (and clean) tree, whose root is firm and whose branches are in heaven [its branches (reach) to the sky (i.e. very high)].

14/Ibrahim-25: Tutee okulaha kulla heenin biithni rabbiha wayadribu Allahu alamthala lilnnasi laAAallahum yatathakkaroona
It yields its fruit at all times, by the Leave of its Lord and Allah sets forth parables for men in order that they may remember (deliberate).

14/Ibrahim-26: Wamathalu kalimatin khabeethatin kashajaratin khabeethatin ijtuththat min fawqi alardi ma laha min qararin
And the parable of an evil (and unclean) word is as an evil (and unclean) tree uprooted from the surface of the earth, having no stability.

14/Ibrahim-27: Yuthabbitu Allahu allatheena amanoo bialqawli alththabiti fee alhayati alddunya wafee alakhirati wayudillu Allahu alththalimeena wayafAAalu Allahu ma yashao
Allah will keep firm those who believe (who are âmenû, who wish to reach Allah before dying) with the word that stands firm in this world and in the Hereafter. And Allah leaves the wrong-doers in Misguidance, and Allah does what He wills.

14/Ibrahim-28: Alam tara ila allatheena baddaloo niAAmata Allahi kufran waahalloo qawmahum dara albawari
Have you not seen those who have changed the Blessing of Allah for ungratefulness (disbelief) and made their people to alight into the Abode of Perdition (Ruin, Destruction).

14/Ibrahim-29: Jahannama yaslawnaha wabisa alqararu
(Into) Hell, in which they shall burn (they shall prop themselves against it).

14/Ibrahim-30: WajaAAaloo lillahi andadan liyudilloo AAan sabeelihi qul tamattaAAoo fainna maseerakum ila alnnari
And they set up equals with Allah that they may lead (people) astray from His Way. Say: Enjoy yourselves. For surely your return is to the Fire.

14/Ibrahim-31: Qul liAAibadiya allatheena amanoo yuqeemoo alssalata wayunfiqoo mimma razaqnahum sirran waAAalaniyatan min qabli an yatiya yawmun la bayAAun feehi wala khilalun
Say to My servants who have believed (who have become âmenû, who have wished to reach Allah before dying) that they should keep up the prayer(s) and spend out of what We have given them as sustenance secretly and openly before the coming of a Day on which there will be no bargaining nor mutual befriending.

14/Ibrahim-32: Allahu allathee khalaqa alssamawati waalarda waanzala mina alssamai maan faakhraja bihi mina alththamarati rizqan lakum wasakhkhara lakumu alfulka litajriya fee albahri biamrihi wasakhkhara lakumu alanhara
Allah is He Who created the heavens and the earth and sent down water (rain) from the sky, then brought forth with it fruits as a sustenance for you, and He has made the ships subservient to you, that they might run their course in the see by His Command, and He has made the rivers subservient to you.

14/Ibrahim-33: Wasakhkhara lakumu alshshamsa waalqamara daibayni wasakhkhara lakumu allayla waalnnahara
And He has subjected to you the sun and the moon, both constantly pursuing their courses and He has made subservient to you the night and the day.

14/Ibrahim-34: Waatakum min kulli ma saaltumoohu wain taAAuddoo niAAmata Allahi la tuhsooha inna alinsana lathaloomun kaffarun
And He gave you of all that you ask Him;and if you count the Blessings of Allah, you will not be able to number them; most surely man is very unjust, very ungrateful.

14/Ibrahim-35: Waith qala ibraheemu rabbi ijAAal hatha albalada aminan waojnubnee wabaniyya an naAAbuda alasnama
And when Abraham said: My Lord! make this city secure, and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols.

14/Ibrahim-36: Rabbi innahunna adlalna katheeran mina alnnasi faman tabiAAanee fainnahu minnee waman AAasanee fainnaka ghafoorun raheemun
My lord! Surely they have caused many men to fall into Misguidance; then whoever depends on me, he is surely of me, and whoever disobeys me, still You are indeed Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

14/Ibrahim-37: Rabbana innee askantu min thurriyyatee biwadin ghayri thee zarAAin AAinda baytika almuharrami rabbana liyuqeemoo alssalata faijAAal afidatan mina alnnasi tahwee ilayhim waorzuqhum mina alththamarati laAAallahum yashkuroona
Our Lord! Surely I have settled a part of my offspring in an uncultivable valley by Your Sacred House, in order, our Lord, that they may keep up the prayer(s); therefore make the hearts of some people yearn (incline) towards them and provide them with fruits; so that they may be grateful (give thanks).

14/Ibrahim-38: Rabbana innaka taAAlamu ma nukhfee wama nuAAlinu wama yakhfa AAala Allahi min shayin fee alardi wala fee alssamai
Our Lord! Surely You know all that we hide and all that we reveal (make public) and nothing in the earth nor any thing in the heaven is hidden from Allah.

14/Ibrahim-39: Alhamdu lillahi allathee wahaba lee AAala alkibari ismaAAeela waishaqa inna rabbee lasameeAAu aldduAAai
All praise be to Allah, Who has given me in old age Ishmael and Isaac; most surely my Lord is the All-Hearer of the prayer (of the call).

14/Ibrahim-40: Rabbi ijAAalnee muqeema alssalati wamin thurriyyatee rabbana wtaqabbal duAAai
My Lord! Make me keep up the prayer(s) and from my offspring (too), our Lord! and accept my prayer (supplication).

14/Ibrahim-41: Rabbana ighfir lee waliwalidayya walilmumineena yawma yaqoomu alhisabu
Our Lord! Forgive me and my parents and (all) the believers on the Day when the Reckoning will be established.

14/Ibrahim-42: Wala tahsabanna Allaha ghafilan AAamma yaAAmalu alththalimoona innama yuakhkhiruhum liyawmin tashkhasu feehi alabsaru
And do not reckon (think) that Allah is Unaware (Heedless) of what the wrong-doers do; He only respites them for a Day on which the eyes will stare in terror (the eyes will be fixedly open).

14/Ibrahim-43: MuhtiAAeena muqniAAee ruoosihim la yartaddu ilayhim tarfuhum waafidatuhum hawaon
Hastening forward, their heads upraised (they stared at the heaven), their glances never reverted to them and their hearts empty (are full of the maladies of the souls’ hearts).

14/Ibrahim-44: Waanthiri alnnasa yawma yateehimu alAAathabu fayaqoolu allatheena thalamoo rabbana akhkhirna ila ajalin qareebin nujib daAAwataka wanattabiAAi alrrusula awalam takoonoo aqsamtum min qablu ma lakum min zawalin
And warn men of a day when the torment shall come to them, then those who were unjust will say: Our Lord! Respite us to a near term, so we shall respond to Your Call and depend on (follow) the Messengers. What! did you not swear before (that) there will be no passing away for you?

14/Ibrahim-45: Wasakantum fee masakini allatheena thalamoo anfusahum watabayyana lakum kayfa faAAalna bihim wadarabna lakumu alamthala
And you dwelt in the abodes of those who wronged themselves, and it was clear to you how We had dealt with them. And We put forth (many) parables for you.

14/Ibrahim-46: Waqad makaroo makrahum waAAinda Allahi makruhum wain kana makruhum litazoola minhu aljibalu
And they have indeed plotted the plot, and their plot is with Allah, though their plot was such that the mountains should pass away thereby.

14/Ibrahim-47: Fala tahsabanna Allaha mukhlifa waAAdihi rusulahu inna Allaha AAazeezun thoo intiqamin
Therefore do not reckon (think) Allah will fail in His Promise to His Messengers. Surely Allah is All-Mighty, the Owner of Retribution (Vengeance).

14/Ibrahim-48: Yawma tubaddalu alardu ghayra alardi waalssamawatu wabarazoo lillahi alwahidi alqahhari
And on the Day (of Permission) when the earth shall be changed into other than the earth and the heavens (as well) and they shall come forth before Allah, the One, the Irresistible (the Subduer).

14/Ibrahim-49: Watara almujrimeena yawmaithin muqarraneena fee alasfadi
And you will see the criminals (the guilty) on that Day (of Permission) linked together in chains.

14/Ibrahim-50: Sarabeeluhum min qatranin wataghsha wujoohahumu alnnaru
Their shirts made of pitch and the Fire covering their faces.

14/Ibrahim-51: Liyajziya Allahu kulla nafsin ma kasabat inna Allaha sareeAAu alhisabi
That Allah may requite each soul (according to) what it has earned; surely Allah is Swift at Reckoning.

14/Ibrahim-52: Hatha balaghun lilnnasi waliyuntharoo bihi waliyaAAlamoo annama huwa ilahun wahidun waliyaththakkara oloo alalbabi
This is a Message (a sufficient exposition) for mankind and that they may be warned thereby, and that they may know that He is One God and that those possessed of the divine secrets (ûli’l elbâb) may deliberate (mind, remember).
