Sura List » Fussilat

41/Fussilat-1: Hameem
Hâ-Mîm. [These disjointed letters are one of the miracles of the Qur´ân, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings.]

41/Fussilat-2: Tanzeelun mina alrrahmani alrraheemi
A revelation (a being sent down) from the All-Merciful, the Most Merciful.

41/Fussilat-3: Kitabun fussilat ayatuhu quranan AAarabiyyan liqawmin yaAAlamoona
A Book of which the Verses are explained in detail, a Qur´ân in Arabic for a people who know.

41/Fussilat-4: Basheeran wanatheeran faaAArada aktharuhum fahum la yasmaAAoona
As a herald of good news and a warner, but most of them have turned away, so they do not hear.

41/Fussilat-5: Waqaloo quloobuna fee akinnatin mimma tadAAoona ilayhi wafee athanina waqrun wamin baynina wabaynika hijabun faiAAmal innana AAamiloona
And they say: Our hearts are under coverings from that to which you call us, and there is a heaviness in our ears, and a veil hangs between us and you, so work, we too are working.

41/Fussilat-6: Qul innama ana basharun mithlukum yooha ilayya annama ilahukum ilahun wahidun faistaqeemoo ilayhi waistaghfiroohu wawaylun lilmushrikeena
Say: I am only a mortal (a human being) like you; it is revealed to me that your God is only One God; therefore take the Straight Path to Him (Take the right direction towards Him) and ask forgiveness of Him; and woe to the associators (polytheists, idolaters, those who associate others with Him);

41/Fussilat-7: Allatheena la yutoona alzzakata wahum bialakhirati hum kafiroona
(To) those who do not give the poor-rate (the Zakât)and they are disbelievers in the hereafter (in making their spirits reach Allah while they are alive and in the Day of Resurrection).

41/Fussilat-8: Inna allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati lahum ajrun ghayru mamnoonin
(As for) those who believe (who are âmenû, who wish to reach Allah before dying) and do improving deeds (the soul´s purification), for them there is surely a reward never stopping.

41/Fussilat-9: Qul ainnakum latakfuroona biallathee khalaqa alarda fee yawmayni watajAAaloona lahu andadan thalika rabbu alAAalameena
Say: What! Do you indeed disbelieve in Him Who created the earth in two Days (Periods) and do you set up equals with Him? That is the Lord of the Worlds.

41/Fussilat-10: WajaAAala feeha rawasiya min fawqiha wabaraka feeha waqaddara feeha aqwataha fee arbaAAati ayyamin sawaan lilssaileena
And He made in it firm mountains from above it, and He blessed therein and measured therein its foods, in four Days (Periods, Stages); equally for the seekers.

41/Fussilat-11: Thumma istawa ila alssamai wahiya dukhanun faqala laha walilardi itiya tawAAan aw karhan qalata atayna taiAAeena
Then He rose over (He directed Himself to) the heaven and it was a vapor (smoke) and said to it and to the earth: Come both of you willingly or unwillingly. They both said: We come willingly.

41/Fussilat-12: Faqadahunna sabAAa samawatin fee yawmayni waawha fee kulli samain amraha wazayyanna alssamaa alddunya bimasabeeha wahifthan thalika taqdeeru alAAazeezi alAAaleemi
So He ordained them seven heavens in two Days (Periods, Stages) and revealed in every heaven its affair; We adorned the lowest heaven with lamps (brilliant stars) guarding (it); that is the Decree of the All-Mighty, the All-Knower.

41/Fussilat-13: Fain aAAradoo fuqul anthartukum saAAiqatan mithla saAAiqati AAadin wathamooda
Now, if they turn aside, then say: I have warned you of a thunderbolt (of punishment) like the thunderbolt of ´Âd and Thamûd.

41/Fussilat-14: Ith jaathumu alrrusulu min bayni aydeehim wamin khalfihim alla taAAbudoo illa Allaha qaloo law shaa rabbuna laanzala malaikatan fainna bima orsiltum bihi kafiroona
When their Messengers came to them from before them and from behind them, saying: Serve (become servants to) nothing but Allah, they said: If our Lord had willed, He would certainly have sent down angels, so we are surely disbelievers in that with which you are sent.

41/Fussilat-15: Faamma AAadun faistakbaroo fee alardi bighayri alhaqqi waqaloo man ashaddu minna quwwatan awalam yaraw anna Allaha allathee khalaqahum huwa ashaddu minhum quwwatan wakanoo biayatina yajhadoona
Then as to ´Âd, they were arrogant (proud) without right in the land, and they said: Who is migthier in strength than we? Did they not see that Allah Who created them was mightier than they in strength? and they denied our Verses (Signs) knowingly.

41/Fussilat-16: Faarsalna AAalayhim reehan sarsaran fee ayyamin nahisatin linutheeqahum AAathaba alkhizyi fee alhayati alddunya walaAAathabu alakhirati akhza wahum la yunsaroona
So We sent on them a furious cold wind in unlucky days (in days of evil omen), that We may make them taste the torment of abasement in the life of this world; and certainly the torment of the Hereafter is much more abasing, and they shall not be helped.

41/Fussilat-17: Waamma thamoodu fahadaynahum faistahabboo alAAama AAala alhuda faakhathathum saAAiqatu alAAathabi alhooni bima kanoo yaksiboona
And as to Thamûd, We have then caused them to attain to Guidance, but they preferred blindness to Guidance, so a thunderbolt of an abasing torment seized them because of what they used to earn.

41/Fussilat-18: Wanajjayna allatheena amanoo wakanoo yattaqoona
And We delivered those who believed (those who wished to reach Allah while they were alive) and (thus) they had become the owners of piety.

41/Fussilat-19: Wayawma yuhsharu aAAdao Allahi ila alnnari fahum yoozaAAoona
And on the Day that the enemies of Allah shall be gathered together to the Fire, then they (the preceding and the following) shall be brought together.

41/Fussilat-20: Hatta itha ma jaooha shahida AAalayhim samAAuhum waabsaruhum wajulooduhum bima kanoo yaAAmaloona
Until, when they come to it (to the Fire), their hearing (ears) and their sight (eyes) and their skins shall bear witness against them as to what they used to do.

41/Fussilat-21: Waqaloo lijuloodihim lima shahidtum AAalayna qaloo antaqana Allahu allathee antaqa kulla shayin wahuwa khalaqakum awwala marratin wailayhi turjaAAoona
And they shall say (they said, in the original text, the Glorious Qur´ân. All the events taking place in the Day of Resurrection are always expressed in the past tense) to their skins: Why have you borne witness against us? They shall say: Allah Who makes everything speak has made us speak, and He created you at first, and to Him you shall be brought back.

41/Fussilat-22: Wama kuntum tastatiroona an yashhada AAalaykum samAAukum wala absarukum wala juloodukum walakin thanantum anna Allaha la yaAAlamu katheeran mimma taAAmaloona
And you did not veil yourselves lest your hearing (ears) and your sight (eyes) and your skins should bear witness against you, but you thought that Allah did not know most of what you were doing.

41/Fussilat-23: Wathalikum thannukumu allathee thanantum birabbikum ardakum faasbahtum mina alkhasireena
And that thought of yours which you thought about your Lord has tumbled you down into perdition, so are you become of the lost ones (so you have become of those who have fallen into Loss).

41/Fussilat-24: Fain yasbiroo faalnnaru mathwan lahum wain yastaAAtiboo fama hum mina almuAAtabeena
Then if they can endure, still the Fire is the abode for them, and if they seek to be pardoned, yet they are not of those who will be pardoned.

41/Fussilat-25: Waqayyadna lahum quranaa fazayyanoo lahum ma bayna aydeehim wama khalfahum wahaqqa AAalayhimu alqawlu fee omamin qad khalat min qablihim mina aljinni waalinsi innahum kanoo khasireena
And We have assigned for them intimate companions who have made fair-seeming to them, what is before them and what is behind them, and the Word (of torment) proved true (was justified) against them among the nations (communities) of the jinn and the men that have passed away before them-that they shall surely be Losers [-that they are surely those who have fallen into Loss (Husrân)].

41/Fussilat-26: Waqala allatheena kafaroo la tasmaAAoo lihatha alqurani wailghaw feehi laAAallakum taghliboona
And those who disbelieve say: Do not listen to this Qur´ân and make noise therein (during its recitation), perhaps you may overcome.

41/Fussilat-27: Falanutheeqanna allatheena kafaroo AAathaban shadeedan walanajziyannahum aswaa allathee kanoo yaAAmaloona
Therefore We will most certainly make those who disbelieve taste a severe torment, and We will most certainly reward them for the worst of what they used to do.

41/Fussilat-28: Thalika jazao aAAdai Allahi alnnaru lahum feeha daru alkhuldi jazaan bima kanoo biayatina yajhadoona
That is the reward of the enemies of Allah: The Fire. Therein will be for them the eternal home, a fit requital for that they used to deny our Verses (Signs, Âyât) knowingly.

41/Fussilat-29: Waqala allatheena kafaroo rabbana arina allathayni adallana mina aljinni waalinsi najAAalhuma tahta aqdamina liyakoona mina alasfaleena
And those who disbelieve will say: Our Lord! Show us those who led us astray from among the jinn and the men that we trample them under our feet so that they may be of the lowest.

41/Fussilat-30: Inna allatheena qaloo rabbuna Allahu thumma istaqamoo tatanazzalu AAalayhimu almalaikatu alla takhafoo wala tahzanoo waabshiroo bialjannati allatee kuntum tooAAadoona
(As for) those who say: Our Lord is Allah, then take the Straight Path (those who turn to Allah and maintain the Religion), the angels descend upon them, saying: Do not fear, nor grieve! And rejoice in the good news of the Garden which you were promised.

41/Fussilat-31: Nahnu awliyaokum fee alhayati alddunya wafee alakhirati walakum feeha ma tashtahee anfusukum walakum feeha ma taddaAAoona
We are your protecting friends in the life of this world and in the Hereafter, and you shall have therein what your souls desire and you shall have therein what you ask for:

41/Fussilat-32: Nuzulan min ghafoorin raheemin
A hospitable gift from the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

41/Fussilat-33: Waman ahsanu qawlan mimman daAAa ila Allahi waAAamila salihan waqala innanee mina almuslimeena
And who is better in speech than he who calls to Allah and do improving deed(s) (the soul´s purification) and says: I am surely of those who submit (to Allah).

41/Fussilat-34: Wala tastawee alhasanatu wala alssayyiatu idfaAA biallatee hiya ahsanu faitha allathee baynaka wabaynahu AAadawatun kaannahu waliyyun hameemun
And the good deed and the evil deed are not equal. Repel (evil) with what is best, when lo! he between whom and you was enmity would be as if he were a warm friend.

41/Fussilat-35: Wama yulaqqaha illa allatheena sabaroo wama yulaqqaha illa thoo haththin AAatheemin
And none are made to attain it but those who are patient, and none are made to attain (receive) it but those who are the owners of great happiness [(of great portion) of happiness].

41/Fussilat-36: Waimma yanzaghannaka mina alshshaytani nazghun faistaAAith biAllahi innahu huwa alssameeAAu alAAaleemu
And if an incitement (whisper) comes to you from Satan, seek refuge in Allah; surely,He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.

41/Fussilat-37: Wamin ayatihi allaylu waalnnaharu waalshshamsu waalqamaru la tasjudoo lilshshamsi wala lilqamari waosjudoo lillahi alathee khalaqahunna in kuntum iyyahu taAAbudoona
And from among His Signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the sun and the moon. Do not prostrate yourselves before the sun and the moon, but prostrate yourselves before Allah Who created you, if you would truly serve (become servants to) Him.

41/Fussilat-38: Faini istakbaroo faallatheena AAinda rabbika yusabbihoona lahu biallayli waalnnahari wahum la yasamoona
But if they are too proud (to do so) yet those with your Lord (yet those who are in your Lord´s Presence) glorify Him the night and the day, and they are never wearied.

41/Fussilat-39: Wamin ayatihi annaka tara alarda khashiAAatan faitha anzalna AAalayha almaa ihtazzat warabat inna allathee ahyaha lamuhyee almawta innahu AAala kulli shayin qadeerun
And from among His Signs is this, that you see the earth humiliated (dry and barren), but when We send down on it the water (rain), it stirs (to life) and swells; most surely He Who gives it life is the Giver of life to the dead; surely He has Power over all things.

41/Fussilat-40: Inna allatheena yulhidoona fee ayatina la yakhfawna AAalayna afaman yulqa fee alnnari khayrun am man yatee aminan yawma alqiyamati iAAmaloo ma shitum innahu bima taAAmaloona baseerun
Those who pervert the truth in Our Signs (Âyât, Verses...) are not in any way hidden from Us. What! is he then who is cast into the Fire better, or he who comes safe (secure) on the Day of Resurrection? Do what you will, surely He is the All-Seer of what you do.

41/Fussilat-41: Inna allatheena kafaroo bialththikri lamma jaahum wainnahu lakitabun AAazeezun
Surely these are those who disbelieved in the Reminder (the Qur´ân) when it came to them, and most surely it is a Mighty Book:

41/Fussilat-42: La yateehi albatilu min bayni yadayhi wala min khalfihi tanzeelun min hakeemin hameedin
Falsehood cannot come to it from before it or behind it: (it is) sent down by the All-Wise, the All-Praised One.

41/Fussilat-43: Ma yuqalu laka illa ma qad qeela lilrrusuli min qablika inna rabbaka lathoo maghfiratin wathoo AAiqabin aleemin
Nothing is said to you except what was said to the Messengers before you; surely your Lord is the Possessor of Forgiveness, and (also) the Possessor of Painful Penalty.

41/Fussilat-44: Walaw jaAAalnahu quranan aAAjamiyyan laqaloo lawla fussilat ayatuhu aaAAjamiyyun waAAarabiyyun qul huwa lillatheena amanoo hudan washifaon waallatheena la yuminoona fee athanihim waqrun wahuwa AAalayhim AAaman olaika yunadawna min makanin baAAeedin
And if We had made it a Qur´ân in a foreign language, they would certainly have said: if only its verses were expounded! What! (A Book) not in Arabic and (the Messenger) an Arab? Say; it is to those who believe (who are âmenû, who wish to reach Allah while they are alive) a Guidance and a Healing; and (as for) those who do not believe, there is a heaviness in their ears and it (the Qur´ân) is a blindness for them (not a Guidance and Healing); they are those who are called from a place far away.

41/Fussilat-45: Walaqad atayna moosa alkitaba faikhtulifa feehi walawla kalimatun sabaqat min rabbika laqudiya baynahum wainnahum lafee shakkin minhu mureebin
And certainly We gave the Book to Moses, but it has been differed about; and if a Word had not already gone forth from your Lord, the judgment would certainly have been given between them; and most surely they are in a disquieting doubt about it.

41/Fussilat-46: Man AAamila salihan falinafsihi waman asaa faAAalayha wama rabbuka bithallamin lilAAabeedi
Whoever does an improving deed (the soul´s purification), it is for his own soul, and whoever does evil, it is against it; and your Lord is never unjust to the servants.

41/Fussilat-47: Ilayhi yuraddu AAilmu alssaAAati wama takhruju min thamaratin min akmamiha wama tahmilu min ontha wala tadaAAu illa biAAilmihi wayawma yunadeehim ayna shurakaee qaloo athannaka ma minna min shaheedin
To Him is referred (belongs) the Knowledge of the Hour, and no fruit comes out of its sheath, nor does a female conceive, nor does she give birth, but with His Knowledge; and on the Day when He shall call out to them: where are (those whom you called) My associates? They shall say: We declare to You, none of us is a witness (to that).

41/Fussilat-48: Wadalla AAanhum ma kanoo yadAAoona min qablu wathannoo ma lahum min maheesin
And those whom they used to call upon before shall go away from them, and they shall know for certain that there is no escape for them.

41/Fussilat-49: La yasamu alinsanu min duAAai alkhayri wain massahu alshsharru fayaoosun qanootun
Man is never tired of praying for good, and if an evil touches him, then he gives up all hope and is lost in despair.

41/Fussilat-50: Walain athaqnahu rahmatan minna min baAAdi darraa massathu layaqoolanna hatha lee wama athunnu alssaAAata qaimatan walain rujiAAtu ila rabbee inna lee AAindahu lalhusna falanunabbianna allatheena kafaroo bima AAamiloo walanutheeqannahum min AAathabin ghaleethin
And if We make him taste mercy from Us after harm (distress, adversity) has touched him, he would most certainly say: This is of me(This is due to my merit), and I do not think the Hour will come to pass, and if I am brought back to my Lord, I shall have with Him sure good; but We will most certainly inform those who disbelieved of what they did, and We will most certainly make them taste of terrible torment.

41/Fussilat-51: Waitha anAAamna AAala alinsani aAArada wanaa bijanibihi waitha massahu alshsharru fathoo duAAain AAareedin
And when We bestow blessings on man, he turns aside and moves away (from thankfulness) and when evil touches him, he makes lenghty supplications.

41/Fussilat-52: Qul araaytum in kana min AAindi Allahi thumma kafartum bihi man adallu mimman huwa fee shiqaqin baAAeedin
Say: Have you seen: if it (this Qur´ân) is from Allah and you disbelieve in it, who is in greater Misguidance than he who is in a distant oppositon?

41/Fussilat-53: Sanureehim ayatina fee alafaqi wafee anfusihim hatta yatabayyana lahum annahu alhaqqu awalam yakfi birabbika annahu AAala kulli shayin shaheedun
We will soon show them Our Signs in the horizons (in the outer worlds, with the heads´eyes of their spirits) and in their own souls (with the hearts’eyes of their souls), until it will become quite clear to them that this (Allah or the Qur´ân) is the Truth (the truth), is it not sufficient that your Lord is a Witness over all things.

41/Fussilat-54: Ala innahum fee miryatin min liqai rabbihim ala innahu bikulli shayin muheetun
Now surely they are in doubt as to the meeting of their Lord (they are dubious about making their spirits reach Allah while they are alive), are they not? Now surely He encompasses all things.
