30/Ar-Rum-1: Aliflammeem
Alif-Lâm-Mîm. [These disjointed letters are one of the miracles of the Qur’ân, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings].
30/Ar-Rum-2: Ghulibati alrroomu
The Romans have been defeated.
30/Ar-Rum-3: Fee adna alardi wahum min baAAdi ghalabihim sayaghliboona
In the lowest (nearest) land, and they, after being vanquished, shall overcome (be victorious).
30/Ar-Rum-4: Fee bidAAi sineena lillahi alamru min qablu wamin baAAdu wayawmaithin yafrahu almuminoona
Within a few (three to nine) years. Allah’s is the Command before and after; and on that day the believers will rejoice.
30/Ar-Rum-5: Binasri Allahi yansuru man yashao wahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu
With the Help of Allah; He helps whom He wills; and He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful (the One Who manifests Himself with His Name of the Most Merciful).
30/Ar-Rum-6: WaAAda Allahi la yukhlifu Allahu waAAdahu walakinna akthara alnnasi la yaAAlamoona
(This is) a Promise of Allah! Allah does not fail in His Promise; but most of mankind do not know.
30/Ar-Rum-7: YaAAlamoona thahiran mina alhayati alddunya wahum AAani alakhirati hum ghafiloona
They know the outward of the life of the world, but of the Hereafter they are absolutely heedless.
30/Ar-Rum-8: Awalam yatafakkaroo fee anfusihim ma khalaqa Allahu alssamawati waalarda wama baynahuma illa bialhaqqi waajalin musamman wainna katheeran mina alnnasi biliqai rabbihim lakafiroona
Do they not reflect within themselves (their own souls): Allah did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them two but with the truth and (for) an appointed (destined) term? And truly most of the people are deniers of (disbelievers in) the Meeting with their Lord [they indeed disbelieve in making their spirits reach Allah while they are alive].
30/Ar-Rum-9: Awalam yaseeroo fee alardi fayanthuroo kayfa kana AAaqibatu allatheena min qablihim kanoo ashadda minhum quwwatan waatharoo alarda waAAamarooha akthara mimma AAamarooha wajaathum rusuluhum bialbayyinati fama kana Allahu liyathlimahum walakin kanoo anfusahum yathlimoona
Do they not travel in the earth and see how was the end of those before them? They were stronger than these in prowess, and they dug the earth and built upon it more than these have built (have rendered prosperous) and their Messengers came to them with the clear arguments; surely Allah did not wrong them, but they used to wrong themselves (their own souls).
30/Ar-Rum-10: Thumma kana AAaqibata allatheena asaoo alssooa an kaththaboo biayati Allahi wakanoo biha yastahzioona
Then evil was the end of those who did evil, because they denied (belied) the Verses (Signs…) of Allah and used to mock them.
30/Ar-Rum-11: Allahu yabdao alkhalqa thumma yuAAeeduhu thumma ilayhi turjaAAoona
Allah (Alone) originates the creation, then brings it back, then to Him you shall be returned.
30/Ar-Rum-12: Wayawma taqoomu alssaAAatu yublisu almujrimoona
And on the Day when the Hour will be established (will rise), the criminals (the guilty) shall be in despair.
30/Ar-Rum-13: Walam yakun lahum min shurakaihim shufaAAao wakanoo bishurakaihim kafireena
There will be no intercessors for them of those whom they have associated (with Allah) and they shall be deniers of their associate-gods.
30/Ar-Rum-14: Wayawma taqoomu alssaAAatu yawmaithin yatafarraqoona
And on the Day when the Hour will be established, at that time (of permission), they shall become separated one from the other (into sects).
30/Ar-Rum-15: Faamma allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati fahum fee rawdatin yuhbaroona
Then as to those who believed (who became âmenû, who wished to reach Allah while they are living) and did improving deeds (do the soul’s purification), they shall be delightful and happy in a Garden (by being bestowed blessings).
30/Ar-Rum-16: Waamma allatheena kafaroo wakaththaboo biayatina waliqai alakhirati faolaika fee alAAathabi muhdaroona
And as to those who disbelieved and belied (rejected) Our Verses (Signs...) and the meeting of the hereafter (denied making their spirits reach Allah while they are living and the Day of Resurrection), these shall be made to be present (ready) in the Torment.
30/Ar-Rum-17: Fasubhana Allahi heena tumsoona waheena tusbihoona
So glorify Allah when you enter upon the time of the evening and when you enter upon the time of the morning.
30/Ar-Rum-18: Walahu alhamdu fee alssamawati waalardi waAAashiyyan waheena tuthhiroona
And to Him belongs all praise in the heavens and the earth, and at nightfall and when you are at midday.
30/Ar-Rum-19: Yukhriju alhayya mina almayyiti wayukhriju almayyita mina alhayyi wayuhyee alarda baAAda mawtiha wakathalika tukhrajoona
He brings forth the living from the dead and brings forth the dead from the living and gives life to (revives) the earth after its death, and thus shall you be brought forth (from the earth).
30/Ar-Rum-20: Wamin ayatihi an khalaqakum min turabin thumma itha antum basharun tantashiroona
And one of His Signs is that He created you, from dust, then behold! you are mortals (humans), scattered.
30/Ar-Rum-21: Wamin ayatihi an khalaqa lakum min anfusikum azwajan litaskunoo ilayha wajaAAala baynakum mawaddatan warahmatan inna fee thalika laayatin liqawmin yatafakkaroona
And one of His Signs is that He created mates for you from Yourselves that you may find rest (repose) in them, and He put between you love and mercy; most surely there are Signs in this for a people who reflect.
30/Ar-Rum-22: Wamin ayatihi khalqu alssamawati waalardi waikhtilafu alsinatikum waalwanikum inna fee thalika laayatin lilAAalimeena
And one of His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and the diversity of your tongues and colors; most surely there are Signs in this for the learned.
30/Ar-Rum-23: Wamin ayatihi manamukum biallayli waalnnahari waibtighaokum min fadlihi inna fee thalika laayatin liqawmin yasmaAAoona
And one of His Signs is your sleeping and your seeking of His Grace [Bounty, (the light of) Virtue] by night and (by) day; most surely there are Signs for a people who would hear.
30/Ar-Rum-24: Wamin ayatihi yureekumu albarqa khawfan watamaAAan wayunazzilu mina alssamai maan fayuhyee bihi alarda baAAda mawtiha inna fee thalika laayatin liqawmin yaAAqiloona
And one of His Signs is that He shows you the lightning for fear and for hope, and sends down water (rain) from the sky, then gives life therewith to the earth after its death; most surely there are Signs in this for a people who use their mind (who understand).
30/Ar-Rum-25: Wamin ayatihi an taqooma alssamao waalardu biamrihi thumma itha daAAakum daAAwatan mina alardi itha antum takhrujoona
And one of His Signs is that the heaven and the earth stand in equilibrium by His Command, then when He calls you with a (single) call, behold, you will come out from the earth (from your graves).
30/Ar-Rum-26: Walahu man fee alssamawati waalardi kullun lahu qanitoona
And His is whosoever is in the heavens and the earth; all are obedient (qânitîn) to Him.
30/Ar-Rum-27: Wahuwa allathee yabdao alkhalqa thumma yuAAeeduhu wahuwa ahwanu AAalayhi walahu almathalu alaAAla fee alssamawati waalardi wahuwa alAAazeezu alhakeemu
And He it is Who originates the creation, then causes it to return again (brings it back) and it is easy to Him; and His is the Sublime Similitude (the Attribute of Exaltedness) in the heavens and the earth, and He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise (the Owner of Wisdom and Judgement).
30/Ar-Rum-28: Daraba lakum mathalan min anfusikum hal lakum mi mma malakat aymanukum min shurakaa fee ma razaqnakum faantum feehi sawaon takhafoonahum kakheefatikum anfusakum kathalika nufassilu alayati liqawmin yaAAqiloona
He sets forth for you a parable (similitude) from your ownselves (your own souls): Have you among those whom your right hands possess (among your slaves) partners in what We have given you for sustenance (like this, those idols can be partners to Allah), so that with respect to it you are equal; you fear them as you fear each other? Thus do We explain the Signs in detail to a people who have sense (use their minds).
30/Ar-Rum-29: Bali ittabaAAa allatheena thalamoo ahwaahum bighayri AAilmin faman yahdee man adalla Allahu wama lahum min nasireena
Nay! those who do wrong follow their low desires (their own lusts) without any knowledge, so who can guide him whom Allah leaves in Misguidance? And for such there will be no helpers.
30/Ar-Rum-30: Faaqim wajhaka lilddeeni haneefan fitrata Allahi allatee fatara alnnasa AAalayha la tabdeela likhalqi Allahi thalika alddeenu alqayyimu walakinna akthara alnnasi la yaAAlamoona
Then set your face (your physical body) for the Region as a Hanîf (as a pure monotheist, by nature upright), the nature (disposition) made by Allah in which He has made the men; there is no altering in Allah’s creation; that is the lasting Religion (that will last from the Pre-Eternity till the post-Eternity), but most people do not know.
30/Ar-Rum-31: Muneebeena ilayhi waittaqoohu waaqeemoo alssalata wala takoonoo mina almushrikeena
(in order to live this religion), turn(ing) to Him (wish to reach Allah while you are living) and keep up the Prayer(s) and (thus) be not of the associators (of the polytheists, Al-Musriqîn).
30/Ar-Rum-32: Mina allatheena farraqoo deenahum wakanoo shiyaAAan kullu hizbin bima ladayhim farihoona
Of those who divided (split up) their Religion and became sects (groups), every faction rejoicing in what is with it.
30/Ar-Rum-33: Waitha massa alnnasa durrun daAAaw rabbahum muneebeena ilayhi thumma itha athaqahum minhu rahmatan itha fareequn minhum birabbihim yushrikoona
And when harm touches them, they call upon their Lord, turning to Him (in repentance), then when He makes them taste of Mercy from Him (when He causes them to reach Guidance with His Name of the Most Merciful), some of them begin to associate (others) with their Lord (they fall into Misguidance while they were in Guidance).
30/Ar-Rum-34: Liyakfuroo bima ataynahum fatamattaAAoo fasawfa taAAlamoona
So as to be ungrateful for (disbelieve in) what We have given them; but enjoy yourselves (for a while); for you will soon come to know.
30/Ar-Rum-35: Am anzalna AAalayhim sultanan fahuwa yatakallamu bima kanoo bihi yushrikoona
Or, have We sent down upon them an authority (a proof, a Book) so that it speaks of that which they associate with Him?
30/Ar-Rum-36: Waitha athaqna alnnasa rahmatan farihoo biha wain tusibhum sayyiatun bima qaddamat aydeehim itha hum yaqnatoona
And when We make people taste of Mercy, they rejoice in it (they get spoiled) and if an evil befalls them for what their hands have sent forth, behold! they are in despair!
30/Ar-Rum-37: Awalam yaraw anna Allaha yabsutu alrrizqa liman yashao wayaqdiru inna fee thalika laayatin liqawmin yuminoona
Do they not see that Allah enlarges the provision (sustenance) for whom He wills and straitens (it for whom He wills)? Most surely there are Signs in this for a people who believe.
30/Ar-Rum-38: Faati tha alqurba haqqahu waalmiskeena waibna alssabeeli thalika khayrun lillatheena yureedoona wajha Allahi waolaika humu almuflihoona
Then give to the near of kin his due and to the needy (to those who are unable to gain their livelihood) and to the wayfarer; this is best for those who yearn for Allah’s Face (who wish to reach Allah) and these it is who are successful (who have attained to the Salvation, to the Bliss of Paradise and the happiness of this worldly life ).
30/Ar-Rum-39: Wama ataytum min riban liyarbuwa fee amwali alnnasi fala yarboo AAinda Allahi wama ataytum min zakatin tureedoona wajha Allahi faolaika humu almudAAifoona
And whatever you lay out as usury (ribâ) in order that it may increase on people’s property (dhikr you have made without wishing to reach Allah while you are living), it shall not increase in the Presence (Sight) of Allah (with Allah) [it does not constitute the lights in your souls’ hearts and does not increase them] and whatever you give in zakât (its Arabic root means: purification and augmentation) seeking Allah’s Face (Zât, Essence) (seeking to reach Allah (dhikr what you have made): it is these that shall get manifold (it is these persons who will increase the lights in their souls’ hearts).
30/Ar-Rum-40: Allahu allathee khalaqakum thumma razaqakum thumma yumeetukum thumma yuhyeekum hal min shurakaikum man yafAAalu min thalikum min shayin subhanahu wataAAala AAamma yushrikoona
Allah is He Who created you, then gave you sustenance (He gave you sustenance in the world’s life and filled your souls’ hearts with lights), then He causes you to die, then brings you to life (again). Is there any of your associates who does anything of it? Glory be to Him, and Exalted be He above what they associate (with Him).
30/Ar-Rum-41: Thahara alfasadu fee albarri waalbahri bima kasabat aydee alnnasi liyutheeqahum baAAda allathee AAamiloo laAAallahum yarjiAAoona
Corruption (Disorder) has appeared in the land and the sea because of what the hands of the men have earned, that He may make them taste a part of that which they have done, so that they may return (to Allah, to the constant Laws that are in operation).
30/Ar-Rum-42: Qul seeroo fee alardi faonthuroo kayfa kana AAaqibatu allatheena min qablu kana aktharuhum mushrikeena
Say: Travel in the land (earth) and see what was the end of those before; most of them were associators (idolaters, polytheists).
30/Ar-Rum-43: Faaqim wajhaka lilddeeni alqayyimi min qabli an yatiya yawmun la maradda lahu mina Allahi yawmaithin yassaddaAAoona
So set your face (your physical body) for the lasting Religion (that will continue from the Pre-Eternity till the Post-Eternity), before there comes from Allah a Day which cannot be averted; on that Day (of Permission) they shall become separated (in groups).
30/Ar-Rum-44: Man kafara faAAalayhi kufruhu waman AAamila salihan falianfusihim yamhadoona
Whoever disbelieves, his disbelief is against him, and whoever does improving deeds (does the soul’s purification), they make so preparations for their own souls.
30/Ar-Rum-45: Liyajziya allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati min fadlihi innahu la yuhibbu alkafireena
That He may reward those who believe (who are âmenû, who wish to reach Allah before dying) and do improving deeds (purify their souls’ hearts) out of His Grace [(the light of) Virtue]; surely He does not love the disbelievers.
30/Ar-Rum-46: Wamin ayatihi an yursila alrriyaha mubashshiratin waliyutheeqakum min rahmatihi walitajriya alfulku biamrihi walitabtaghoo min fadlihi walaAAallakum tashkuroona
And one of His Signs is that He sends forth the winds bearing good tidings, and that He may make you taste of His Mercy, and that the ships may sail at His Command, and that you may seek of His Grace, and that you may be grateful.
30/Ar-Rum-47: Walaqad arsalna min qablika rusulan ila qawmihim fajaoohum bialbayyinati faintaqamna mina allatheena ajramoo wakana haqqan AAalayna nasru almumineena
And certainly We sent before you Messengers to their own folk, so they came to them with the clear arguments. Then We took vengeance on those who were criminal (guilty) and helping the believers is ever incumbent on Us.
30/Ar-Rum-48: Allahu allathee yursilu alrriyaha fatutheeru sahaban fayabsutuhu fee alssamai kayfa yashao wayajAAaluhu kisafan fatara alwadqa yakhruju min khilalihi faitha asaba bihi man yashao min AAibadihi itha hum yastabshiroona
Allah is He Who sends forth the winds, so they raise a cloud, then He spreads it forth in the sky as He wills and He breaks it up so that you see the rain coming forth from inside it; then when He causes it to fall upon whom He wills of His servants, behold, they are joyful.
30/Ar-Rum-49: Wain kanoo min qabli an yunazzala AAalayhim min qablihi lamubliseena
Though they were before this, before it was sent down upon them, confounded in sure despair.
30/Ar-Rum-50: Faonthur ila athari rahmati Allahi kayfa yuhyee alarda baAAda mawtiha inna thalika lamuhyee almawta wahuwa AAala kulli shayin qadeerun
Look then at the prints (traces) of Allah’s Mercy, how He gives life to (revives) the earth after its death, most surely He will raise the dead to life; and He has Power over all things.
30/Ar-Rum-51: Walain arsalna reehan faraawhu musfarran lathalloo min baAAdihi yakfuroona
And if We send a wind and they see it (their tilth) turn yellow, they would after that certainly continue to disbelieve.
30/Ar-Rum-52: Fainnaka la tusmiAAu almawta wala tusmiAAu alssumma aldduAAaa itha wallaw mudbireena
So, surely, you cannot make the dead to hear and you cannot make the deaf to hear the call (the invitation) when they turn back and flee.
30/Ar-Rum-53: Wama anta bihadi alAAumyi AAan dalalatihim in tusmiAAu illa man yuminu biayatina fahum muslimoona
And you cannot make the blind reach Guidance (delivering them) from their Misguidance, you can make to hear only those who believe in Our Verses (Signs); so, they surrender (they are Muslims).
30/Ar-Rum-54: Allahu allathee khalaqakum min daAAfin thumma jaAAala min baAAdi daAAfin quwwatan thumma jaAAala min baAAdi quwwatin daAAfan washaybatan yakhluqu ma yashao wahuwa alAAaleemu alqadeeru
Allah is He Who created you from (a state of) weakness, then He gave you strength after weakness, then ordained weakness and hoary hair after strength; He creates what He wills, and He is the All-Knowing, the All-Powerfull.
30/Ar-Rum-55: Wayawma taqoomu alssaAAatu yuqsimu almujrimoona ma labithoo ghayra saAAatin kathalika kanoo yufakoona
And on the Day when the Hour will be established (when the Hour rises) the criminals (the guilty) shall swear (that) they did not stay but an hour; thus are they reversed (from the death to the life).
30/Ar-Rum-56: Waqala allatheena ootoo alAAilma waaleemana laqad labithtum fee kitabi Allahi ila yawmi albaAAthi fahatha yawmu albaAAthi walakinnakum kuntum la taAAlamoona
And those who are given (the) knowledge and (the) Faith will say: you stayed (in the graves) till the Day of Resurrection (found) in the Book of Allah (by Allah’s Decree), so this is the Day of Resurrection, but you did not know.
30/Ar-Rum-57: Fayawmaithin la yanfaAAu allatheena thalamoo maAAthiratuhum wala hum yustaAAtaboona
But on that Day (of Permission) their excuses shall not profit those who did wrong (injustice) and they will not be asked to get (Allah) to agree.
30/Ar-Rum-58: Walaqad darabna lilnnasi fee hatha alqurani min kulli mathalin walain jitahum biayatin layaqoolanna allatheena kafaroo in antum illa mubtiloona
And certainly We have set forth for mankind every kind of similitudes (questions) in this Qur’ân; and if you should bring them a Sign (a miracle), those who disbelieve would certainly say: you are only those who occupy themselves with falsehood (vanity).
30/Ar-Rum-59: Kathalika yatbaAAu Allahu AAala quloobi allatheena la yaAAlamoona
Thus does Allah set a lasting seal on the (souls’) hearts of those who do not know.
30/Ar-Rum-60: Faisbir inna waAAda Allahi haqqun wala yastakhiffannaka allatheena la yooqinoona
Therefore remain patient; surely the Promise of Allah is the very truth, and let not those who have no certainty (yaqîn) drag you into flightiness.
