Sura List » An-Najm

53/An-Najm-1: Waalnnajmi itha hawa
By the star when it goes down (disappears).

53/An-Najm-2: Ma dalla sahibukum wama ghawa
Your companion has not fallen in Misguidance nor has he gone astray.

53/An-Najm-3: Wama yantiqu AAani alhawa
Nor does he speak out of his own desire [of his own accord; according the low desires of his soul (’s heart)].

53/An-Najm-4: In huwa illa wahyun yooha
It (what he says) is nothing but Revelation that is revealed (to him).

53/An-Najm-5: AAallamahu shadeedu alquwa
One mighty in power (Gabriel) has taught him.

53/An-Najm-6: Thoo mirratin faistawa
He [(Gabriel) is] the Possessor of Strength and Grandeur. So he rose (he directed himself) (and he grew clear to view; so he attained completion).

53/An-Najm-7: Wahuwa bialofuqi alaAAla
And (he appeared) on the uppermost horizon.

53/An-Najm-8: Thumma dana fatadalla
Then he (Gabriel) approached and so he came down.

53/An-Najm-9: Fakana qaba qawsayni aw adna
So he was at a distance of two bows’ length, or closer (still).

53/An-Najm-10: Faawha ila AAabdihi ma awha
So He revealed to His servant what He revealed.

53/An-Najm-11: Ma kathaba alfuadu ma raa
The (seeing of the soul’s) heart did not belie what he saw (with the eyes of his spirit).

53/An-Najm-12: Afatumaroonahu AAala ma yara
What! Do you then dispute with him as to what he saw?

53/An-Najm-13: Walaqad raahu nazlatan okhra
And certainly he saw him (Gabriel) in another descent,

53/An-Najm-14: AAinda sidrati almuntaha
Near the Lote-tree of the utmost boundary (Sidrat-ul-Muntaha over the seventh heaven beyond which none other then the human spirits can pass).

53/An-Najm-15: AAindaha jannatu almawa
Near it (the Lote-tree of the utmost boundary) is the Garden of Refuge (Abode) [Cennet-ul Me’vâ].

53/An-Najm-16: Ith yaghsha alssidrata ma yaghsha
When that which covers (envelops) covered (enveloped) the Lote-tree;

53/An-Najm-17: Ma zagha albasaru wama tagha
The sight (of Muhammad, Pbuh) did not turn aside nor did it exceed the limit.

53/An-Najm-18: Laqad raa min ayati rabbihi alkubra
Certainly he did see of the Greatest Signs of his Lord.

53/An-Najm-19: Afaraaytumu allata waalAAuzza
Have you then considered Al-Lât and Al-‘Uzzâ (two idols of the pagan Arabs),

53/An-Najm-20: Wamanata alththalithata alokhra
And Manât (another idol of the pagan Arabs), the other third?

53/An-Najm-21: Alakumu alththakaru walahu alontha
Is it for you the males and for Him the females?

53/An-Najm-22: Tilka ithan qismatun deeza
This indeed is an unfair division!

53/An-Najm-23: In hiya illa asmaon sammaytumooha antum waabaokum ma anzala Allahu biha min sultanin in yattabiAAoona illa alththanna wama tahwa alanfusu walaqad jaahum min rabbihimu alhuda
They are but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has sent down for them no authority (proof). They follow nothing but conjecture(s) and the low desires which (their) souls incline to; and certainly the Guidance has come to them from their Lord.

53/An-Najm-24: Am lilinsani ma tamanna
Or is there for man whatever he wishes?

53/An-Najm-25: Falillahi alakhiratu waaloola
But to Allah belongs the Last (the Hereafter) and the First (this world).

53/An-Najm-26: Wakam min malakin fee alssamawati la tughnee shafaAAatuhum shayan illa min baAAdi an yathana Allahu liman yashao wayarda
And how many an angel is there in the heavens whose intercession does not avail at all except after Allah has given permission to whom He wills and is Pleased with (to the Owner of the Assent of Disposal, to the Imam of the Age).

53/An-Najm-27: Inna allatheena la yuminoona bialakhirati layusammoona almalaikata tasmiyata alontha
Most surely those who do not believe in the hereafter (in making their spirits reach Allah before dying and in the Day of Resurrection) name the angels with female names

53/An-Najm-28: Wama lahum bihi min AAilmin in yattabiAAoona illa alththanna wainna alththanna la yughnee mina alhaqqi shayan
And they have no knowledge of it; they do not follow anything but conjecture, and surely conjecture is no substitute for the truth (and surely conjecture does not avail against the truth at all).

53/An-Najm-29: FaaAArid AAan man tawalla AAan thikrina walam yurid illa alhayata alddunya
Therefore withdraw from him who turns away from Our reminder (dhikr) and does not desire anything but the life of this world.

53/An-Najm-30: Thalika mablaghuhum mina alAAilmi inna rabbaka huwa aAAlamu biman dalla AAan sabeelihi wahuwa aAAlamu bimani ihtada
That which they can reach of knowledge is only this (That is their reach of knowledge); surely your Lord knows best him who goes astray from His Way and He knows best him who has attained Guidance (who has reached Allah).

53/An-Najm-31: Walillahi ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi liyajziya allatheena asaoo bima AAamiloo wayajziya allatheena ahsanoo bialhusna
And Allah’s is what is in the heavens and what is in the earth, that He may requite those who do evil with that which they have done, and reward those who do good, with what is best.

53/An-Najm-32: Allatheena yajtaniboona kabaira alithmi waalfawahisha illa allamama inna rabbaka wasiAAu almaghfirati huwa aAAlamu bikum ith anshaakum mina alardi waith antum ajinnatun fee butooni ommahatikum fala tuzakkoo anfusakum huwa aAAlamu bimani ittaqa
Those who keep aloof (avoid) from the great sins and the indecencies except the small faults; surely your Lord is of Vast Forgiveness. He knows you best when He brings you forth from the earth and when you were embryos in the wombs of your mothers; so do not put your souls in the clear (therefore do not ascribe purity to your souls; do not assert that you have purified your souls). He knows him best who is the owner of piety.

53/An-Najm-33: Afaraayta allathee tawalla
Did you see him who turned away (from Allah)?

53/An-Najm-34: WaaAAta qaleelan waakda
And (he) gave a little, then stopped (giving)?

53/An-Najm-35: aAAindahu AAilmu alghaybi fahuwa yara
Is with him the knowledge of the Unseen so that he sees?

53/An-Najm-36: Am lam yunabba bima fee suhufi moosa
Or, has he not been informed of what is in the Pages of Moses?

53/An-Najm-37: Waibraheema allathee waffa
And (of) Abraham who fulfilled (the Commandments of Allah):

53/An-Najm-38: Alla taziru waziratun wizra okhra
That no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another;

53/An-Najm-39: Waan laysa lilinsani illa ma saAAa
And that man shall have nothing but what he strives for;

53/An-Najm-40: Waanna saAAyahu sawfa yura
And that his striving (his effort, his works) shall soon be seen;

53/An-Najm-41: Thumma yujzahu aljazaa alawfa
Then he will be recompensed with the fullest recompense;

53/An-Najm-42: Waanna ila rabbika almuntaha
And that to your Lord is the End (the Return in the end).

53/An-Najm-43: Waannahu huwa adhaka waabka
And that it is He Who makes (men) laugh, and makes (them) weep.

53/An-Najm-44: Waannahu huwa amata waahya
And that it is He Who causes death and gives life.

53/An-Najm-45: Waannahu khalaqa alzzawjayni alththakara waalontha
And that He created the (two) pairs, the male and the female,

53/An-Najm-46: Min nutfatin itha tumna
From a drop of sperm when it (the semen) is ejaculated.

53/An-Najm-47: Waanna AAalayhi alnnashata alokhra
And that on Him is the other bringing-forth (the second revival).

53/An-Najm-48: Waannahu huwa aghna waaqna
And that He it is Who enriches and causes to acquire (wealth).

53/An-Najm-49: Waannahu huwa rabbu alshshiAAra
And that He is the Lord of the Sirius (The Dog-Star, worshipped by the pagan Arabs).

53/An-Najm-50: Waannahu ahlaka AAadan aloola
And that it is He Who destroyed the former ‘Âd (people),

53/An-Najm-51: Wathamooda fama abqa
And Thamûd (people): He did not render anyone permanent (He left no one behind).

53/An-Najm-52: Waqawma noohin min qablu innahum kanoo hum athlama waatgha
And (He destroyed) the people of Noah before; surely they were more unjust and inordinate;

53/An-Najm-53: Waalmutafikata ahwa
The overthrown cities (where Lot’s people lived) did He overthrow,

53/An-Najm-54: Faghashshaha ma ghashsha
So there covered them that which did cover.

53/An-Najm-55: Fabiayyi alai rabbika tatamara
Then which of the blessings of your Lord will you doubt (dispute)?

53/An-Najm-56: Hatha natheerun mina alnnuthuri aloola
This is a warner of the warners of old.

53/An-Najm-57: Azifati alazifatu
The Near Event draws near.

53/An-Najm-58: Laysa laha min dooni Allahi kashifatun
There is none besides Allah to disclose (remove) it.

53/An-Najm-59: Afamin hatha alhadeethi taAAjaboona
Do you then wonder at this announcement (discourse)? [Do you find this event strange?].

53/An-Najm-60: Watadhakoona wala tabkoona
And you laugh (at it) and you do not weep.

53/An-Najm-61: Waantum samidoona
And you are indulging in amusements and pastime.

53/An-Najm-62: Faosjudoo lillahi waoAAbudoo
So (rather) prostrate yourselves before Allah and serve (become servants to Him)!
