54/Al-Qamar-1: Iqtarabati alssaAAatu wainshaqqa alqamaru
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder.
54/Al-Qamar-2: Wain yaraw ayatan yuAAridoo wayaqooloo sihrun mustamirrun
And if they see a Sign (miracle), they turn away and say: (This is) prolonged (persistent) magic.
54/Al-Qamar-3: Wakaththaboo waittabaAAoo ahwaahum wakullu amrin mustaqirrun
And they belied (it) and followed their low desires; and every affair has been settled (decided).
54/Al-Qamar-4: Walaqad jaahum mina alanbai ma feehi muzdajarun
And certainly some news have come to them wherein is prevention (deterrence).
54/Al-Qamar-5: Hikmatun balighatun fama tughnee alnnuthuru
(These news are) a consummate wisdom, but warnings do not benefit (them).
54/Al-Qamar-6: Fatawalla AAanhum yawma yadAAu alddaAAi ila shayin nukurin
So withdraw from them. On that Day, the Caller will call (them) to a dreadful thing (an unknown, unheard thing; “nuqur”).
54/Al-Qamar-7: KhushshaAAan absaruhum yakhrujoona mina alajdathi kaannahum jaradun muntashirun
With humbled (terrified) eyes, they come forth from graves as if they were scattered locusts.
54/Al-Qamar-8: MuhtiAAeena ila alddaAAi yaqoolu alkafiroona hatha yawmun AAasirun
Hastening to the Caller (Summoner). The disbelievers say: This is a hard day.
54/Al-Qamar-9: Kaththabat qablahum qawmu noohin fakaththaboo AAabdana waqaloo majnoonun waizdujira
Before them the people of Noah denied (belied), so they rejected (belied) Our servant and said: A madman (a possessed one)! He was prevented (from conveying the Message) by being ill-treated.
54/Al-Qamar-10: FadaAAa rabbahu annee maghloobun faintasir
Therefore he called upon his Lord: I have been overcome, so help me [take vengeance (on them)].
54/Al-Qamar-11: Fafatahna abwaba alssamai bimain munhamirin
So We opened the gates of the heaven (sky) with water pouring down.
54/Al-Qamar-12: Wafajjarna alarda AAuyoonan failtaqa almao AAala amrin qad qudira
And We caused the earth to burst with gushing springs, so the waters met for a matter predestined (according to a measure already ordained).
54/Al-Qamar-13: Wahamalnahu AAala thati alwahin wadusurin
And We carried him on that which (the ship, the Ark) was made of planks and nails.
54/Al-Qamar-14: Tajree biaAAyunina jazaan liman kana kufira
Floating under Our Eyes:a reward for him who was rejected (denied).
54/Al-Qamar-15: Walaqad taraknaha ayatan fahal min muddakirin
And certainly We left it as a Sign, but is there anyone who will take heed (receive admonition)?
54/Al-Qamar-16: Fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuri
Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings?
54/Al-Qamar-17: Walaqad yassarna alqurana lilththikri fahal min muddakirin
And certainly We have made the Qur’ân for the remembrance (dhikr), but is there anyone who will take heed (receive admonition)?
54/Al-Qamar-18: Kaththabat AAadun fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuri
‘Âd (people) belied (the Warnings); then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings?
54/Al-Qamar-19: Inna arsalna AAalayhim reehan sarsaran fee yawmi nahsin mustamirrin
Surely We sent on them a furious, very cold wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity.
54/Al-Qamar-20: TanziAAu alnnasa kaannahum aAAjazu nakhlin munqaAAirin
Tearing men away as if they were uprooted trunks of date-palms.
54/Al-Qamar-21: Fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuri
How (terrible) was then My Torment and My Warnings?
54/Al-Qamar-22: Walaqad yassarna alqurana lilththikri fahal min muddakirin
And certainly We have made the Qur’ân easy for the remembrance (dhikr), but is there anyone who will take heed (receive admonition)?
54/Al-Qamar-23: Kaththabat thamoodu bialnnuthuri
Thamûd (people also) belied (rejected) the Warnings.
54/Al-Qamar-24: Faqaloo abasharan minna wahidan nattabiAAuhu inna ithan lafee dalalin wasuAAurin
So they said: What! A single mortal (human being) from among us! Shall we follow (depend on) him? Most surely we shall in that case be indeed in Misguidance and madness (distress).
54/Al-Qamar-25: Aolqiya alththikru AAalayhi min baynina bal huwa kaththabun ashirun
Has the Reminder (Dhikr) been made to reach him from among us? Nay! He is an insolent (rash) liar!
54/Al-Qamar-26: SayaAAlamoona ghadan mani alkaththabu alashiru
Tomorrow shall they know who is the liar, the insolent (rash) one.
54/Al-Qamar-27: Inna mursiloo alnnaqati fitnatan lahum fairtaqibhum waistabir
Surely We are sending the she-camel as a test for them. So watch them (O Sâlih) and be patient!
54/Al-Qamar-28: Wanabbihum anna almaa qismatun baynahum kullu shirbin muhtadarun
And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them; all those who will drink will be present when their turn comes.
54/Al-Qamar-29: Fanadaw sahibahum fataAAata faAAaqara
Later, they called their comrade (they wanted him to kill the she-camel), so he took (his sword) and hamstrung (her).
54/Al-Qamar-30: Fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthuri
How (terrible) was then My Thread and My Warnings!
54/Al-Qamar-31: Inna arsalna AAalayhim sayhatan wahidatan fakanoo kahasheemi almuhtathiri
Surely We sent upon them a single Cry (a terrible soundwave) and they became like the stubble of a fold-builder.
54/Al-Qamar-32: Walaqad yassarna alqurana lilththikri fahal min muddakirin
And certainly We have made the Qur’ân easy for the remembrance (dhikr), but is there anyone who will take heed (receive admonition)?
54/Al-Qamar-33: Kaththabat qawmu lootin bialnnuthuri
The people of Noah belied (rejected) the Warnings.
54/Al-Qamar-34: Inna arsalna AAalayhim hasiban illa ala lootin najjaynahum bisaharin
Surely We sent upon them a stone-charged whirlwind (which destroyed them all), except the family of Lot, whom We saved in the last hour of the night (a little before daybreak).
54/Al-Qamar-35: NiAAmatan min AAindina kathalika najzee man shakara
As a Blessing from Us; thus do We reward him who gives thanks.
54/Al-Qamar-36: Walaqad antharahum batshatana fatamaraw bialnnuthuri
And he (Lot) indeed had warned them of our Seizure (Our severe torment), but they did doubt (dispute) the Warnings!
54/Al-Qamar-37: Walaqad rawadoohu AAan dayfihi fatamasna aAAyunahum fathooqoo AAathabee wanuthuri
They even asked insistently of him his guests for an evil act (purpose) (by asking to commit sodomy with them). So We blinded their eyes; (saying) so taste My torment and My Warnings!
54/Al-Qamar-38: Walaqad sabbahahum bukratan AAathabun mustaqirrun
And certainly a lasting torment seized them in the morning.
54/Al-Qamar-39: Fathooqoo AAathabee wanuthuri
So taste My torment and My Warnings!
54/Al-Qamar-40: Walaqad yassarna alqurana lilththikri fahal min muddakirin
And certainly We have made the Qur’ân easy for the remembrance (dhikr), but is there anyone who will take heed (receive admonition)?
54/Al-Qamar-41: Walaqad jaa ala firAAawna alnnuthuru
And certainly the Warnings came to the family of Pharaoh.
54/Al-Qamar-42: Kaththaboo biayatina kulliha faakhathnahum akhtha AAazeezin muqtadirin
They belied (denied) all Our Signs, so We Seized them with a Seizure of One All-Mighty, All-Powerful.
54/Al-Qamar-43: Akuffarukum khayrun min olaikum am lakum baraatun fee alzzuburi
(O the inhabitants of Makkah)! Are your disbelievers better than these, or is there an exemption for you in the Heavenly Books (Zubur)?
54/Al-Qamar-44: Am yaqooloona nahnu jameeAAun muntasirun
Or do they say: We are a host allied together to help each other?
54/Al-Qamar-45: Sayuhzamu aljamAAu wayuwalloona alddubura
Soon shall the hosts be routed, and they shall turn (their) backs.
54/Al-Qamar-46: Bali alssaAAatu mawAAiduhum waalssaAAatu adha waamarru
Nay, the Hour is their promised time, and the Hour shall be more grievous and more bitter.
54/Al-Qamar-47: Inna almujrimeena fee dalalin wasuAAurin
Surely the criminals (guilty) are in Misguidance and madness.
54/Al-Qamar-48: Yawma yushaboona fee alnnari AAala wujoohihim thooqoo massa saqara
On that Day they shall be dragged upon their faces into the Fire; taste the touch of the Flame.
54/Al-Qamar-49: Inna kulla shayin khalaqnahu biqadarin
Surely We have created everything with Qadar (a Measure, a Preordainment, as being predestined).
54/Al-Qamar-50: Wama amruna illa wahidatun kalamhin bialbasari
And Our Commandment is but one, as the twinkling of an eye.
54/Al-Qamar-51: Walaqad ahlakna ashyaAAakum fahal min muddakirin
And certainly We have already destroyed the likes of you, but is there anyone who will take heed (mind, receive admonition)?
54/Al-Qamar-52: Wakullu shayin faAAaloohu fee alzzuburi
And everything they have done is in the Heavenly Books (Zubur).
54/Al-Qamar-53: Wakullu sagheerin wakabeerin mustatarun
And everything, small and big, is written down (line by line).
54/Al-Qamar-54: Inna almuttaqeena fee jannatin wanaharin
) Surely the owners of piety (the pious, Al-Muttaqîn) are in Gardens and Rivers,
54/Al-Qamar-55: Fee maqAAadi sidqin AAinda maleekin muqtadirin
In a seat of truth with (near, in the Presence of) a Most Powerful King.
