Sura List » Al-Mumtahana

60/Al-Mumtahana-1: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la tattakhithoo AAaduwwee waAAaduwwakum awliyaa tulqoona ilayhim bialmawaddati waqad kafaroo bima jaakum mina alhaqqi yukhrijoona alrrasoola waiyyakum an tuminoo biAllahi rabbikum in kuntum kharajtum jihadan fee sabeelee waibtighaa mardatee tusirroona ilayhim bialmawaddati waana aAAlamu bima akhfaytum wama aAAlantum waman yafAAalhu minkum faqad dalla sawaa alssabeeli
O you who believe (who wish to reach Allah before dying)! Do not take my enemy and your enemy for friends: would you offer them love while they have disbelieved in (denied) what has come to you from the Truth, driving out the Messenger and yourselves because you believe in Allah, your Lord? If you go forth struggling hard in My Way and seeking My Pleasure, would you manifest love to them (and give them your secret)? And I know what you conceal and what you manifest; and whoever of you does this, he indeed has gone astray from the right Way.

60/Al-Mumtahana-2: In yathqafookum yakoonoo lakam aAAdaan wayabsutoo ilaykum aydiyahum waalsinatahum bialssooi wawaddoo law takfuroona
If they find and seize you (if they gain the upper hand over you), they will be your enemies, and will stretch forth towards you their hands and their tongues with evil, and they ardently desire that you may disbelieve.

60/Al-Mumtahana-3: Lan tanfaAAakum arhamukum wala awladukum yawma alqiyamati yafsilu baynakum waAllahu bima taAAmaloona baseerun
Your relationship would not profit you, nor your children on the Day of Resurrection; He will separate between you (and them) [He will decide between you); and Allah is the All-Seer of what you do.

60/Al-Mumtahana-4: Qad kanat lakum oswatun hasanatun fee ibraheema waallatheena maAAahu ith qaloo liqawmihim inna buraao minkum wamimma taAAbudoona min dooni Allahi kafarna bikum wabada baynana wabaynakumu alAAadawatu waalbaghdao abadan hatta tuminoo biAllahi wahdahu illa qawla ibraheema liabeehi laastaghfiranna laka wama amliku laka mina Allahi min shayin rabbana AAalayka tawakkalna wailayka anabna wailayka almaseeru
Indeed there has been an excellent example for you in Abraham and those with him, when they said to their people: We are clear (quit) of you and of what you serve besides Allah: we have rejected you, and enmity and hatred have appeared (begun) between us and you forever until you believe in Allah Alone, except the saying of Abraham to his father: Verily, I will ask forgiveness (from Allah) for you, but I have no power to do anything for you before Allah. Our Lord! In You (Alone) we put our trust, and to You (Alone) we turn (in repentance) and to You is the eventual coming (the journeying’s end).

60/Al-Mumtahana-5: Rabbana la tajAAalna fitnatan lillatheena kafaroo waighfir lana rabbana innaka anta alAAazeezu alhakeemu
Our Lord! Do not make us a trial for those who disbelieve, forgive us, our Lord! Surely You, only You, are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise!

60/Al-Mumtahana-6: Laqad kana lakum feehim oswatun hasanatun liman kana yarjoo Allaha waalyawma alakhira waman yatawalla fainna Allaha huwa alghanniyyu alhameedu
Certainly, there has been in them an excellent example for him who longs for Allah (for reaching the Esence, the Person of Allah) and the Last Day; and whoever turns back (away), then surely Allah is the Self-Sufficient (Rich, Free of all needs) Worthy of all praise (the Most Praised).

60/Al-Mumtahana-7: AAasa Allahu an yajAAala baynakum wabayna allatheena AAadaytum minhum mawaddatan waAllahu qadeerun waAllahu ghafoorun raheemun
It may be that Allah will bring about friendship between you and those whom you hold to be your enemies among them; and Allah is All-Powerful; and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

60/Al-Mumtahana-8: La yanhakumu Allahu AAani allatheena lam yuqatilookum fee alddeeni walam yukhrijookum min diyarikum an tabarroohum watuqsitoo ilayhim inna Allaha yuhibbu almuqsiteena
Allah does not prevent you from dealing justly and kindly with those who did not fight against you in the matter of religion nor drove you out of your homes; surely Allah loves the doers of justice (those who deal with equity).

60/Al-Mumtahana-9: Innama yanhakumu Allahu AAani allatheena qatalookum fee alddeeni waakhrajookum min diyarikum wathaharoo AAala ikhrajikum an tawallawhum waman yatawallahum faolaika humu alththalimoona
Allah only forbids (prevents) you respecting those who made war upon you on account of(your) religion, and drove you forth from your homes and backed up (others) in your expulsion, that you may turn to (make friends with) them, and whoever turns to (make friends with) them, these are the wrong-doers.

60/Al-Mumtahana-10: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo itha jaakumu almuminatu muhajiratin faimtahinoohunna Allahu aAAlamu bieemanihinna fain AAalimtumoohunna muminatin fala tarjiAAoohunna ila alkuffari la hunna hillun lahum wala hum yahilloona lahunna waatoohum ma anfaqoo wala junaha AAalaykum an tankihoohunna itha ataytumoohunna ojoorahunna wala tumsikoo biAAisami alkawafiri waisaloo ma anfaqtum walyasaloo ma anfaqoo thalikum hukmu Allahi yahkumu baynakum waAllahu AAaleemun hakeemun
O you who believe (who are âmenû)! When believing women come to you as emigrants, examine them; (ask them as to their reasons of emigrating). Allah best knows their faith; then if you know (ascertain) that they are (true) believers, do not send them back to the disbelievers; neither are these (women) lawful for them, nor are those (men) lawful for them, and give them (to the disbelieving men) what they have spent (for the believing women as “Mahr”) And there will be no blame (sin) on you to marry them if you have paid their “Mahr” (Bridal money given by the husband to his wife at the time of wedding) to them; and do not hold to the ties of marriage of disbelieving women, and ask for what you have spent and let them ask for what they have spent. That is the judgment of Allah; He judges between you; and Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

60/Al-Mumtahana-11: Wain fatakum shayon min azwajikum ila alkuffari faAAaqabtum faatoo allatheena thahabat azwajuhum mithla ma anfaqoo waittaqoo Allaha allathee antum bihi muminoona
And if anything (Mahr) has passed away from you to the disbelievers because of your wives, then your turn comes, give (of the booty you have had) to those whose wives have gone away the like of what they have spent, and have piety towards Allah in Whom you believe.

60/Al-Mumtahana-12: Ya ayyuha alnnabiyyu itha jaaka almuminatu yubayiAAnaka AAala an la yushrikna biAllahi shayan wala yasriqna wala yazneena wala yaqtulna awladahunna wala yateena bibuhtanin yaftareenahu bayna aydeehinna waarjulihinna wala yaAAseenaka fee maAAroofin fabayiAAhunna waistaghfir lahunna Allaha inna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun
O Prophet! When believing women come to you to give you a pledge (the Bai’ah; to depend on you) that they will not associate anything with Allah and will not steal, and will not commit adultery (fornication), and will not kill their children, and will not bring a calumny which they have forged between their hands and their feet, and will not disobey you in what is good (is prescribed by the Law), accept their pledge (their dependence) and ask forgiveness for them from Allah; surely Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

60/Al-Mumtahana-13: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la tatawallaw qawman ghadiba Allahu AAalayhim qad yaisoo mina alakhirati kama yaisa alkuffaru min ashabi alquboori
O you who believe (who wish to reach Allah before dying)! Do not turn to (do not make friends with) a people who incurred the Wrath of Allah; indeed they have despaired of the Hereafter as the disbelievers have despaired of those in graves (that they will not be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection).
