5/Al-Maidah-1: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo awfoo bialAAuqoodi ohillat lakum baheematu alanAAami illa ma yutla AAalaykum ghayra muhillee alssaydi waantum hurumun inna Allaha yahkumu ma yureedu
O you who believe (O you who wish to reach Allah and submit to Him)! Fulfil the contracts (you have concluded). Lawful to you (for food) all the cattle quadrupeds except that which is (here) announced to you although it is not considered as lawful to hunt while you are putting on the pilgrim’s garb; surely Allah orders what He wills.
5/Al-Maidah-2: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la tuhilloo shaAAaira Allahi wala alshshahra alharama wala alhadya wala alqalaida wala ammeena albayta alharama yabtaghoona fadlan min rabbihim waridwanan waitha halaltum faistadoo wala yajrimannakum shanaanu qawmin an saddookum AAani almasjidi alharami an taAAtadoo wataAAawanoo AAala albirri waalttaqwa wala taAAawanoo AAala alithmi waalAAudwani waittaqoo Allaha inna Allaha shadeedu alAAiqabi
O you who believe (who become âmenû, who wish to reach Allah and submit to Him)! Do not behave disrespectful to (do not violate) the decrees of Canon Law (established by Allah) nor to the Sacred Month, nor the animals brought (sent to Ka’ba as gifts) for sacrifice nor the sacrificial camels with garlands, nor to the security of those coming to the Sacred House seeking the Bounty from their Lord and His good pleasure; but when you leave the Ihrâm (the state of consecration), you may hunt; and let not hatred of a people-because they hindered you from the Sacred Mosque-incite you to exceed the limits; and help one another in goodness and piety (takwâ), and do not help one another in sin and enmity (aggression) and have piety towards Allah (be careful of your duty to Allah); surely Allah is Severe in requiting (evil).
5/Al-Maidah-3: Hurrimat AAalaykumu almaytatu waalddamu walahmu alkhinzeeri wama ohilla lighayri Allahi bihi waalmunkhaniqatu waalmawqoothatu waalmutaraddiyatu waalnnateehatu wama akala alssabuAAu illa ma thakkaytum wama thubiha AAala alnnusubi waan tastaqsimoo bialazlami thalikum fisqun alyawma yaisa allatheena kafaroo min deenikum fala takhshawhum waikhshawni alyawma akmaltu lakum deenakum waatmamtu AAalaykum niAAmatee waradeetu lakumu alislama deenan famani idturra fee makhmasatin ghayra mutajanifin liithmin fainna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun
Forbidden to you (for food) is that which dies of itself (carrion), and blood, and flesh of swine, and that on which any other name than that of Allah has been invoked, and that which has been killed by strangling, or by a violent blow, or by a headlong fall, or by the goring of horns-and that which has been (partly) eaten by a wild animal-unless you are able to slaughter it (before its death) –and that which is sacrificed (slaughtered) on stones set up (for idols) and that you divide by the arrows (that you settle matters with gambling-arrows); (all) that is a Fısk [not to be in the Way of Allah or to have gone out of it (transgression)]. This day, those who disbelieved have given up all hope of your religion (as they could not turn you back of it), so do not fear them, and fear Me. This day, I have perfected for you your religion and completed My Blessing on you and agreed for you to Islam as a religion; but whoever is compelled (to eat) by severe hunger, not inclining wilfully to sin, then surely Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
5/Al-Maidah-4: Yasaloonaka matha ohilla lahum qul ohilla lakumu alttayyibatu wama AAallamtum mina aljawarihi mukallibeena tuAAallimoonahunna mimma AAallamakumu Allahu fakuloo mimma amsakna AAalaykum waothkuroo isma Allahi AAalayhi waittaqoo Allaha inna Allaha sareeAAu alhisabi
They ask you what is lawful for them (as food). Say: (All) good (and clean) things are made lawful for you, and what you have taught the beasts and birds of prey, training them to hunt by teaching them of what Allah has taught you-so eat of that which they catch for you and mention Allah’s Name over it, and have piety towards Allah; surely Allah is Swift in reckoning.
5/Al-Maidah-5: Alyawma ohilla lakumu alttayyibatu wataAAamu allatheena ootoo alkitaba hillun lakum wataAAamukum hillun lahum waalmuhsanatu mina almuminati waalmuhsanatu mina allatheena ootoo alkitaba min qablikum itha ataytumoohunna ojoorahunna muhsineena ghayra musafiheena wala muttakhithee akhdanin waman yakfur bialeemani faqad habita AAamaluhu wahuwa fee alakhirati mina alkhasireena
This day (all) the good and clean things are made lawful for you; and the food of those who have been given the Book is lawful for you and your food is lawful for them; and the chaste from among the believing free women and the chaste from among those who have been given the Book before you (are lawful for you) when you have given them their marriage portion, taking (them) in marriage, not fornicating nor taking them as secret concubines; and whoever disbelieves (denies) in the Faith, his work indeed is vain (of no account), and in the Hereafter he shall be one of the losers (he shall go into Hell).
5/Al-Maidah-6: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo itha qumtum ila alssalati faighsiloo wujoohakum waaydiyakum ila almarafiqi waimsahoo biruoosikum waarjulakum ila alkaAAbayni wain kuntum junuban faittahharoo wain kuntum marda aw AAala safarin aw jaa ahadun minkum mina alghaiti aw lamastumu alnnisaa falam tajidoo maan fatayammamoo saAAeedan tayyiban faimsahoo biwujoohikum waaydeekum minhu ma yureedu Allahu liyajAAala AAalaykum min harajin walakin yureedu liyutahhirakum waliyutimma niAAmatahu AAalaykum laAAallakum tashkuroona
O you who believe (who are âmenû, who wish to reach Allah and submit to Him while they are living)! When you rise up to the Prayer, wash your faces and your hands as far as the elbows, and wipe your heads (with the wet palm of your hand) and your feet up to the ankles; and if you are under an obligation to perform a total ablution (if you are canonically unclean from sexual act…) then wash (bathe) your whole body and if you are ill or on a journey, or one of you comes from the privy or you have touched the women (you have had sexual relations with the women), and you cannot find water, then go to clean earth and wipe (rub) your faces and your hands with some of it. Allah does not want to put on you any difficulty, but He wants to purify you and to complete His Blessing upon you, so that you may be grateful.
5/Al-Maidah-7: Waothkuroo niAAmata Allahi AAalaykum wameethaqahu allathee wathaqakum bihi ith qultum samiAAna waataAAna waittaqoo Allaha inna Allaha AAaleemun bithati alssudoori
And remember the Blessing of Allah upon you and His Covenant with which He bound you firmly, when you said: We have heard and obey, and have piety towards Allah (be careful of your duty to Allah), surely Allah is All-Knower of what is in the breasts.
5/Al-Maidah-8: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo koonoo qawwameena lillahi shuhadaa bialqisti wala yajrimannakum shanaanu qawmin AAala alla taAAdiloo iAAdiloo huwa aqrabu lilttaqwa waittaqoo Allaha inna Allaha khabeerun bima taAAmaloona
O you who believe (who wish to reach Allah and submit to Him)! Be upright (maintain the truth) for Allah, bearers of witness with justice, and let not hatred of a people incite you not to act equitably; act equitably, that is nearer to Piety (Takwâ) and have piety towards Allah (Observe your duty to Allah); surely Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do.
5/Al-Maidah-9: WaAAada Allahu allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati lahum maghfiratun waajrun AAatheemun
Allah has promised those who believe (who wish to reach Allah and submit to Him) and do improving deeds (that purify and refine the souls’ hearts) (that) they shall have forgiveness and a Mighty Reward (Ecrun ‘azîm).
5/Al-Maidah-10: Waallatheena kafaroo wakaththaboo biayatina olaika ashabu aljaheemi
And those who disbelieve and deny our Verses (Signs…), these are the companions of the Flame (Hell-fire).
5/Al-Maidah-11: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo othkuroo niAAmata Allahi AAalaykum ith hamma qawmun an yabsutoo ilaykum aydiyahum fakaffa aydiyahum AAankum waittaqoo Allaha waAAala Allahi falyatawakkali almuminoona
O you who believe (who wish to reach Allah before dying and submit to Him)! Remember Allah’s Blessing to you when a people had determined to stretch forth their hands towards you, but (Allah) held back their hands from you. And have piety (be careful of your duty to Allah) towards Allah and in Allah let the believers put their trust.
5/Al-Maidah-12: Walaqad akhatha Allahu meethaqa banee israeela wabaAAathna minhumu ithnay AAashara naqeeban waqala Allahu innee maAAakum lain aqamtumu alssalata waataytumu alzzakata waamantum birusulee waAAazzartumoohum waaqradtumu Allaha qardan hasanan laokaffiranna AAankum sayyiatikum walaodkhilannakum jannatin tajree min tahtiha alanharu faman kafara baAAda thalika minkum faqad dalla sawaa alssabeeli
Indeed Allah took the covenant from the Children of Israel, and We raised up from among them twelve chieftains; and Allah said: I am with you if you keep up the prayer(s) and give the poor-rate (Zakât) and believe in My Messengers and honour and assist them and lend to Allah a goodly loan, I will most certainly cover your evil deeds and I will most certainly cause you to enter into Gardens under which the rivers flow. But whoever disbelieves from among you after this has gone astray from the levelled Way (leading to Allah).
5/Al-Maidah-13: Fabima naqdihim meethaqahum laAAannahum wajaAAalna quloobahum qasiyatan yuharrifoona alkalima AAan mawadiAAihi wanasoo haththan mimma thukkiroo bihi wala tazalu tattaliAAu AAala khainatin minhum illa qaleelan minhum faoAAfu AAanhum waisfah inna Allaha yuhibbu almuhsineena
So because of their breaking their covenant We cursed them and made their hearts hard (and completely dark); they altered the words from their places and forgot (abandoned) a good part of what they were reminded of; and you will not cease to discover treachery in them excepting a few of them; so pardon them and overlook (turn away); surely Allah loves the good-doers (Muhsinîn).
5/Al-Maidah-14: Wamina allatheena qaloo inna nasara akhathna meethaqahum fanasoo haththan mimma thukkiroo bihi faaghrayna baynahumu alAAadawata waalbaghdaa ila yawmi alqiyamati wasawfa yunabbiohumu Allahu bima kanoo yasnaAAoona
And from those who say: surely, we are Christians, We took their covenant, but they forgot (abandoned) a part of what they were reminded of, therefore We excited among them enmity and hatred till the Day of Resurrection and Allah will inform them of what they used to do.
5/Al-Maidah-15: Ya ahla alkitabi qad jaakum rasooluna yubayyinu lakum katheeran mimma kuntum tukhfoona mina alkitabi wayaAAfoo AAan katheerin qad jaakum mina Allahi noorun wakitabun mubeenun
O People of the Book (Scripture)! Indeed our Messenger has come to you making clear to you much of what you concealed of the Book and passing over much; indeed there has come to you from Allah a Light and a clear Book.
5/Al-Maidah-16: Yahdee bihi Allahu mani ittabaAAa ridwanahu subula alssalami wayukhrijuhum mina alththulumati ila alnnoori biithnihi wayahdeehim ila siratin mustaqeemin
Allah guides with him (with His Messenger) all who seek His Pleasure to the Ways of Surrender and brings them out of utter darkness into the light with His Permission and guides them to a Straight Path (leading to Allah).
5/Al-Maidah-17: Laqad kafara allatheena qaloo inna Allaha huwa almaseehu ibnu maryama qul faman yamliku mina Allahi shayan in arada an yuhlika almaseeha ibna maryama waommahu waman fee alardi jameeAAan walillahi mulku alssamawati waalardi wama baynahuma yakhluqu ma yashao waAllahu AAala kulli shayin qadeerun
They indeed have disbelieved who say: Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary. Who then has the least power against Allah if He were to destroy the Messiah, son of Mary, his mother and all those who are on the earth together? And Allah’s is the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and what is between them; He creates what He wills. And Allah is All-Powerful over all things.
5/Al-Maidah-18: Waqalati alyahoodu waalnnasara nahnu abnao Allahi waahibbaohu qul falima yuAAaththibukum bithunoobikum bal antum basharun mimman khalaqa yaghfiru liman yashao wayuAAaththibu man yashao walillahi mulku alssamawati waalardi wama baynahuma wailayhi almaseeru
And the Jews and the Christians say: We are the sons (children) of Allah and His beloved ones. Say: Why does He then punish you for your faults (sins)? Nay, you are mortals from among those whom He has created; He forgives whom He wills and punishes whom He wills; and Allah’s is the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, and to Him is the journeying (eventual coming).
5/Al-Maidah-19: Ya ahla alkitabi qad jaakum rasooluna yubayyinu lakum AAala fatratin mina alrrusuli an taqooloo ma jaana min basheerin wala natheerin faqad jaakum basheerun wanatheerun waAllahu AAala kulli shayin qadeerun
O People of the Book! Indeed Our Messenger has come to you explaining (the truths) to you after a cessation of the (mission of the) Messengers (Prophets), lest you say: There did not come to us a giver of good news and a Warner, so indeed there has come to you a giver of good news and a Warner; and Allah is Able to do all things (Allah has Power over all things).
5/Al-Maidah-20: Waith qala moosa liqawmihi ya qawmi othkuroo niAAmata Allahi AAalaykum ith jaAAala feekum anbiyaa wajaAAalakum mulookan waatakum ma lam yuti ahadan mina alAAalameena
And (remember) when Moses said to his people: O my people! Remember the Blessing of Allah upon you when He raised Prophets among you and made you kings and gave you what He had not given to any other among the worlds (nations…).
5/Al-Maidah-21: Ya qawmi odkhuloo alarda almuqaddasata allatee kataba Allahu lakum wala tartaddoo AAala adbarikum fatanqaliboo khasireena
O my people! Go into the holy land which Allah has prescribed (ordained) for you and do not turn on your backs (in flight); for surely you would then turn into the (state of) the losers.
5/Al-Maidah-22: Qaloo ya moosa inna feeha qawman jabbareena wainna lan nadkhulaha hatta yakhrujoo minha fain yakhrujoo minha fainna dakhiloona
They said: O Moses! Surely there is a race of exceeding strength (and oppression) in it; never shall we enter it until they go out from it, so if they go out from it, then surely we will enter.
5/Al-Maidah-23: Qala rajulani mina allatheena yakhafoona anAAama Allahu AAalayhima odkhuloo AAalayhimu albaba faitha dakhaltumoohu fainnakum ghaliboona waAAala Allahi fatawakkaloo in kuntum mumineena
Two men of those who feared, upon both of them Allah had bestowed a Blessing, said: Enter upon them by the gate, for when you have entered it you shall be victorious, and put your trust in Allah if you are believers indeed.
5/Al-Maidah-24: Qaloo ya moosa inna lan nadkhulaha abadan ma damoo feeha faithhab anta warabbuka faqatila inna hahuna qaAAidoona
They said: O Moses! We shall never enter it so long as they are in it; go therefore you and your Lord, then fight you both, surely we will here sit down.
5/Al-Maidah-25: Qala rabbi innee la amliku illa nafsee waakhee faofruq baynana wabayna alqawmi alfasiqeena
He said: My Lord! I have no control (upon any) but my own self and my brother; therefore make a separation between us and the nation of transgressors (Fâsiqûn=those who are not in the Way of Allah or have gone out of it).
5/Al-Maidah-26: Qala fainnaha muharramatun AAalayhim arbaAAeena sanatan yateehoona fee alardi fala tasa AAala alqawmi alfasiqeena
He said: So it shall surely be forbidden to them for forty years, they shall wander about in the land, therefore do not grieve for the nation of Fâsiqûn (transgressors).
5/Al-Maidah-27: Waotlu AAalayhim nabaa ibnay adama bialhaqqi ith qarraba qurbanan fatuqubbila min ahadihima walam yutaqabbal mina alakhari qala laaqtulannaka qala innama yataqabbalu Allahu mina almuttaqeena
And relate to them the story of the two sons of Adam with truth when they both offered an offering (a sacrifice), but it was accepted from one of them and was not accepted from the other. He (the latter) said (to the former): I will most certainly kill you. He (the former) said: Allah only accepts (the offering) from those who have piety (takwâ).
5/Al-Maidah-28: Lain basatta ilayya yadaka litaqtulanee ma ana bibasitin yadiya ilayka liaqtulaka innee akhafu Allaha rabba alAAalameena
If you do stretch forth your hand against me to kill me, I am not one to stretch forth my hand against you to kill you; surely I fear Allah, Lord of the worlds.
5/Al-Maidah-29: Innee oreedu an tabooa biithmee waithmika fatakoona min ashabi alnnari wathalika jazao alththalimeena
Surely I wish that you should bear the sin committed against me and your own sin, and so you would be of the inmates of the Fire, and this is the recompense (punishment) of the wrongdoers.
5/Al-Maidah-30: FatawwaAAat lahu nafsuhu qatla akheehi faqatalahu faasbaha mina alkhasireena
So the soul of the other encouraged him (and made fair-seeming and easy to him) the murder of his brother; he murdered him and became one of the losers.
5/Al-Maidah-31: FabaAAatha Allahu ghuraban yabhathu fee alardi liyuriyahu kayfa yuwaree sawata akheehi qala ya waylata aAAajaztu an akoona mithla hatha alghurabi faowariya sawata akhee faasbaha mina alnnadimeena
Then Allah sent a crow scratching up the ground so that he might show him how he should cover the dead body of his brother. He said: Woe to me! Am I not even able to be as this crow and to hide the dead body of my brother? So he became of those who regretted.
5/Al-Maidah-32: Min ajli thalika katabna AAala banee israeela annahu man qatala nafsan bighayri nafsin aw fasadin fee alardi fakaannama qatala alnnasa jameeAAan waman ahyaha fakaannama ahya alnnasa jameeAAan walaqad jaa thum rusuluna bialbayyinati thumma inna katheeran minhum baAAda thalika fee alardi lamusrifoona
For this reason did we prescribe to the Children of Israel that whoever kills a human being for other than manslaughter or for mischief (corruption) in the earth, it is as though he had killed all men; and whoever saves the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind; and certainly Our Messenger came to them with the clear arguments, but even after that many of them certainly act extravagantly in the earth.
5/Al-Maidah-33: Innama jazao allatheena yuhariboona Allaha warasoolahu wayasAAawna fee alardi fasadan an yuqattaloo aw yusallaboo aw tuqattaAAa aydeehim waarjuluhum min khilafin aw yunfaw mina alardi thalika lahum khizyun fee alddunya walahum fee alakhirati AAathabun AAatheemun
The recompense (punishment) of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive to make mischief in the earth is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be exiled of the land (where they are found). That is their disgrace in this world and for them there is in the Hereafter a great torment.
5/Al-Maidah-34: Illa allatheena taboo min qabli an taqdiroo AAalayhim faiAAlamoo anna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun
Except those who repent before you overpower them; so know that Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
5/Al-Maidah-35: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo ittaqoo Allaha waibtaghoo ilayhi alwaseelata wajahidoo fee sabeelihi laAAallakum tuflihoona
O you who believe (who wish to reach Allah and to submit to Him)! Have piety towards Allah and seek (ask for) the Means (the murshid who will lead men to the immaterial maturity) that will make you reach Him and strive hard in His Way that you may be successful (you may attain to Salvation, i.e. to the Bliss in the Hereafter and the happiness in this worldly life).
5/Al-Maidah-36: Inna allatheena kafaroo law anna lahum ma fee alardi jameeAAan wamithlahu maAAahu liyaftadoo bihi min AAathabi yawmi alqiyamati ma tuqubbila minhum walahum AAathabun aleemun
Surely (as for) those who disbelieve, even if they had what is in the earth, all of it, and the like of it with it, that they might ransom themselves with it from the torment of the Day of Resurrection, it shall not be accepted from them, and for them there shall be a painful torment.
5/Al-Maidah-37: Yureedoona an yakhrujoo mina alnnari wama hum bikharijeena minha walahum AAathabun muqeemun
They will long to go forth from the fire, and they will not go forth from it, and for them there will be a lasting torment.
5/Al-Maidah-38: Waalssariqu waalssariqatu faiqtaAAoo aydiyahuma jazaan bima kasaba nakalan mina Allahi waAllahu AAazeezun hakeemun
And (as for) the male thief and the female thief, cut off their hands as a recompense (punishment) for what they have earned, an exemplary punishment from Allah. And Allah is All-Powerful, All-Wise (the Owner of Judgement and Wisdom).
5/Al-Maidah-39: Faman taba min baAAdi thulmihi waaslaha fainna Allaha yatoobu AAalayhi inna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun
But whoever repents after his wrongdoing and amends (improves his soul’s heart), then surely Allah will accept his repentance. Verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
5/Al-Maidah-40: Alam taAAlam anna Allaha lahu mulku alssamawati waalardi yuAAaththibu man yashao wayaghfiru liman yashao waAllahu AAala kulli shayin qadeerun
Do you not know that to Allah Alone belongs the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth? He torments (punishes) whom He wills and He forgives whom He wills. And Allah has Power over all things.
5/Al-Maidah-41: Ya ayyuha alrrasoolu la yahzunka allatheena yusariAAoona fee alkufri mina allatheena qaloo amanna biafwahihim walam tumin quloobuhum wamina allatheena hadoo sammaAAoona lilkathibi sammaAAoona liqawmin akhareena lam yatooka yuharrifoona alkalima min baAAdi mawadiAAihi yaqooloona in ooteetum hatha fakhuthoohu wain lam tutawhu faihtharoo waman yuridi Allahu fitnatahu falan tamlika lahu mina Allahi shayan olaika allatheena lam yuridi Allahu an yutahhira quloobahum lahum fee alddunya khizyun walahum fee alakhirati AAathabun AAatheemun
O Messenger! let not those who vie with one another in the race to disbelief grieve you, of such who say: We believe with their mouths and their hearts do not believe, and of the Jews: (they are) listeners for the sake of a lie, listeners for another people who have not come to you; they alter the words from their places, saying: If you are given this, take it, and if you are not given this, then beware! And as for him whom Allah wills that he should remain into Al-Fitnah (temptation, discord…) you cannot hinder for him anything from Allah. Those are they for whom Allah does not want that He should purify their (souls’) hearts. For them there is a disgrace in this world, and in the Hereafter a great torment.
5/Al-Maidah-42: SammaAAoona lilkathibi akkaloona lilssuhti fain jaooka faohkum baynahum aw aAArid AAanhum wain tuAArid AAanhum falan yadurrooka shayan wain hakamta faohkum baynahum bialqisti inna Allaha yuhibbu almuqsiteena
(They are) listeners of a lie, devourers of what is forbidden; therefore if they come to you (by not consenting to the decree of the Torah) judge between them or turn aside from them, and if you turn aside from them, they shall not harm you in any way; and if you judge, judge between them with equity; surely Allah loves those who judge equitably.
5/Al-Maidah-43: Wakayfa yuhakkimoonaka waAAindahumu alttawratu feeha hukmu Allahi thumma yatawallawna min baAAdi thalika wama olaika bialmumineena
And how do they make you a judge (an arbiter) while there is the Torah with them, into which is Allah’s Judgement? Yet they turn back (from your judgement) after that, and these are not believers.
5/Al-Maidah-44: Inna anzalna alttawrata feeha hudan wanoorun yahkumu biha alnnabiyyoona allatheena aslamoo lillatheena hadoo waalrrabbaniyyoona waalahbaru bima istuhfithoo min kitabi Allahi wakanoo AAalayhi shuhadaa fala takhshawoo alnnasa waikhshawni wala tashtaroo biayatee thamanan qaleelan waman lam yahkum bima anzala Allahu faolaika humu alkafiroona
Verily, We did send down the Torah in which was (is) Guidance and Light; with it the prophets who submitted themselves (to Allah) judged for those who were Jews, and those who have consecrated themselves to their Lord, Rabbâniyyûn=the masters of Divine Knowledge…) and the priests (ahbâr=doctors) (judged) with what they were charged to guard from Allah’s Book, and they were witnesses to it; therefore do not fear the men and fear Me, and do not sell My Verses (Signs…) for a miserable price. And whoever does not judge by what Allah has sent down, such are the disbelievers.
5/Al-Maidah-45: Wakatabna AAalayhim feeha anna alnnafsa bialnnafsi waalAAayna bialAAayni waalanfa bialanfi waalothuna bialothuni waalssinna bialssinni waaljurooha qisasun faman tasaddaqa bihi fahuwa kaffaratun lahu waman lam yahkum bima anzala Allahu faolaika humu alththalimoona
And We prescribed to them in it that the life is for the life, and the eye for the eye, and the nose for the nose, and the ear for the ear, and the tooth for the tooth and (that there is) reprisal in wounds; but he who foregoes it (remits the retaliation by way of charity), it shall be an expiation for him (for his sins); and whoever does not judge by what Allah has sent down, such are the wrongdoers (unjust).
5/Al-Maidah-46: Waqaffayna AAala atharihim biAAeesa ibni maryama musaddiqan lima bayna yadayhi mina alttawrati waataynahu alinjeela feehi hudan wanoorun wamusaddiqan lima bayna yadayhi mina alttawrati wahudan wamawAAithatan lilmuttaqeena
And We sent after them in their footsteps Jesus, son of Mary, confirming what was before him of the Torah and We gave him the Gospel in which was (is) Guidance and Light, and confirming what was before it of the Torah and a guidance and an admonishment for those who have piety (who are the owners of piety, takwâ).
5/Al-Maidah-47: Walyahkum ahlu alinjeeli bima anzala Allahu feehi waman lam yahkum bima anzala Allahu faolaika humu alfasiqoona
And let the People of the Gospel judge by what Allah has sent down in it. And whoever does not judge by what Allah has sent down (then) such (people) are the Fâsiqûn (transgressors=Who are not in the Way of Allah or have gone out of it).
5/Al-Maidah-48: Waanzalna ilayka alkitaba bialhaqqi musaddiqan lima bayna yadayhi mina alkitabi wamuhayminan AAalayhi faohkum baynahum bima anzala Allahu wala tattabiAA ahwaahum AAamma jaaka mina alhaqqi likullin jaAAalna minkum shirAAatan waminhajan walaw shaa Allahu lajaAAalakum ommatan wahidatan walakin liyabluwakum fee ma atakum faistabiqoo alkhayrati ila Allahi marjiAAukum jameeAAan fayunabbiokum bima kuntum feehi takhtalifoona
And We have sent down to you the Book with the truth, confirming (verifying) what is before it of the Book and a watcher (guardian) over it, therefore judge between them by what Allah has sent down, and do not follow their low (vain) desires diverging away from that which has come to you from the Truth (Hakk). For every one of you (you all) did We appoint a (Divine) Law (Shariah) and a traced-out way. If Allah had willed, He would have made you one nation (community) but that (He) may try you by what He has given you. So vie with one another in good deeds. To Allah is your return, of all (of you), and He will then inform you of that in which you differed.
5/Al-Maidah-49: Waani ohkum baynahum bima anzala Allahu wala tattabiAA ahwaahum waihtharhum an yaftinooka AAan baAAdi ma anzala Allahu ilayka fain tawallaw faiAAlam annama yureedu Allahu an yuseebahum bibaAAdi thunoobihim wainna katheeran mina alnnasi lafasiqoona
And that you should judge between them by what Allah has sent down, and do not follow their low (vain) desires and be cautious of them, lest they seduce you (cause you to fall into the Fitnah, temptation, enticement, disagreement…) from part of what Allah has sent down to you but if they turn back (from the Truth), then know that Allah desires to afflict them on account of some of their faults (sins); and most surely many of the men are the Fâsiqûn (transgressors).
5/Al-Maidah-50: Afahukma aljahiliyyati yabghoona waman ahsanu mina Allahu hukman liqawmin yooqinoona
It is a judgement of (the times of) Ignorance that they are seeking? And who is better than Allah to judge for a people who have certainty [who are the owners of certainty (yaqîn) in their Faith)].
5/Al-Maidah-51: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la tattakhithoo alyahooda waalnnasara awliyaa baAAduhum awliyao baAAdin waman yatawallahum minkum fainnahu minhum inna Allaha la yahdee alqawma alththalimeena
O you who believe (who wish to reach Allah before death)! Do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.
5/Al-Maidah-52: Fatara allatheena fee quloobihim maradun yusariAAoona feehim yaqooloona nakhsha an tuseebana dairatun faAAasa Allahu an yatiya bialfathi aw amrin min AAindihi fayusbihoo AAala ma asarroo fee anfusihim nadimeena
And you see those in whose hearts there is a disease, hastening towards them, saying: We fear lest a change of fortune may befall us; but it may be that Allah will bring the victory (conquest) or a commandment (decision) from His Presence, so that they shall be regretting for what they have been keeping as a secret in their souls.
5/Al-Maidah-53: Wayaqoolu allatheena amanoo ahaolai allatheena aqsamoo biAllahi jahda aymanihim innahum lamaAAakum habitat aAAmaluhum faasbahoo khasireena
And those who believe (who wish to reach Allah before death and to submit to Allah) say: Are these they who swore by Allah with the most forcible (binding) of their oaths that they were most surely with you? Their deeds have gone for nothing (have been in vain) and they have become the losers.
5/Al-Maidah-54: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo man yartadda minkum AAan deenihi fasawfa yatee Allahu biqawmin yuhibbuhum wayuhibboonahu athillatin AAala almumineena aAAizzatin AAala alkafireena yujahidoona fee sabeeli Allahi wala yakhafoona lawmata laimin thalika fadlu Allahi yuteehi man yashao waAllahu wasiAAun AAaleemun
O you who believe (who wish to reach Allah) whoever from among you turns back from his Religion, then Allah will bring a people whom He loves and who love Him, humble (lowly) towards the believers, stern (mighty) against the disbelievers, they strive hard in Allah’s Way and never fear the blame of the blamers; this is Allah’s Grace [(the light of) Virtue]. He gives it to whom He wills, and Allah is All-Embracing (Ample-giving), All-Knower.
5/Al-Maidah-55: Innama waliyyukumu Allahu warasooluhu waallatheena amanoo allatheena yuqeemoona alssalata wayutoona alzzakata wahum rakiAAoona
Only Allah is your protecting Friend (Walî) and His Messenger and those who believe, those who keep up the Prayer and pay the poor-rate (Zakât) and they bow down (in prayer).
5/Al-Maidah-56: Waman yatawalla Allaha warasoolahu waallatheena amanoo fainna hizba Allahi humu alghaliboona
And whoever takes (turns towards) Allah and His Messenger and those who believe (for a friend), then surely the Party of Allah are they that shall be triumphant (the victorious).
5/Al-Maidah-57: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la tattakhithoo allatheena ittakhathoo deenakum huzuwan walaAAiban mina allatheena ootoo alkitaba min qablikum waalkuffara awliyaa waittaqoo Allaha in kuntum mumineena
O you who believe (who wish to reach Allah) do not take for (protecting) friends those who take your religion for a mockery and a joke, from among those who were given the Book before you and the disbelievers, and have piety towards Allah if you are (true) believers.
5/Al-Maidah-58: Waitha nadaytum ila alssalati ittakhathooha huzuwan walaAAiban thalika biannahum qawmun la yaAAqiloona
And when you call to prayer, they make it a mockery and a joke; this is because they are a people who do not exercise their minds.
5/Al-Maidah-59: Qul ya ahla alkitabi hal tanqimoona minna illa an amanna biAllahi wama onzila ilayna wama onzila min qablu waanna aktharakum fasiqoona
Say: O people of the Book! Do you criticize (grudge) us for no other reason than that we believe in Allah and in what has been sent to us and what was sent down before, and that most of you are Fâsiqûn (transgressors, who are not in the Way of Allah or have gone out of it)?
5/Al-Maidah-60: Qul hal onabbiokum bisharrin min thalika mathoobatan AAinda Allahi man laAAanahu Allahu waghadiba AAalayhi wajaAAala minhumu alqiradata waalkhanazeera waAAabada alttaghooti olaika sharrun makanan waadallu AAan sawai alssabeeli
Say: Shall I inform you of (him who is) worse than this in retribution in the Presence of Allah? (Worse are they) whom Allah has cursed and brought His Wrath upon, and of whom He made apes and swine and those who served the Tâgût (Satans, satans from the men and jinn); these are worse in place and far more astray from the levelled Way (leading to Allah).
5/Al-Maidah-61: Waitha jaookum qaloo amanna waqad dakhaloo bialkufri wahum qad kharajoo bihi waAllahu aAAlamu bima kanoo yaktumoona
And when they come to you, they say: We believe; indeed they come in with disbelief and indeed they go forth with it; and Allah knows best what they concealed.
5/Al-Maidah-62: Watara katheeran minhum yusariAAoona fee alithmi waalAAudwani waaklihimu alssuhta labisa ma kanoo yaAAmaloona
And you see many of them racing with each other in sin and enmity, and their devouring of what is unlawfully acquired; certainly evil is that which they do.
5/Al-Maidah-63: Lawla yanhahumu alrrabbaniyyoona waalahbaru AAan qawlihimu alithma waaklihimu alssuhta labisa ma kanoo yasnaAAoona
Should the learned men (devoted to Allah) and the doctors of law (ahbâr) not prohibit them from their speaking of what is sinful and their eating of what is unlawfully acquired? Certainly evil is that which they have done.
5/Al-Maidah-64: Waqalati alyahoodu yadu Allahi maghloolatun ghullat aydeehim waluAAinoo bima qaloo bal yadahu mabsootatani yunfiqu kayfa yashao walayazeedanna katheeran minhum ma onzila ilayka min rabbika tughyanan wakufran waalqayna baynahumu alAAadawata waalbaghdaa ila yawmi alqiyamati kullama awqadoo naran lilharbi atfaaha Allahu wayasAAawna fee alardi fasadan waAllahu la yuhibbu almufsideena
And the Jews say: The Hand of Allah is tied up (He is niggard). Their hands have been tied up and they have been cursed for what they said. Nay, both His Hands are widely outstretched. He spends (of His Bounty) as He wills; and what has been sent down to you from your Lord will certainly make many of them increase in inordinacy and disbelief; and We have put enmity and hatred among them till the Day of Resurrection; whenever they kindle a fire for war, Allah puts it out, and they strive to make mischief (corruption) on the earth; and Allah does not love the mischief-makers (Mufsidûn= who work corruption).
5/Al-Maidah-65: Walaw anna ahla alkitabi amanoo waittaqaw lakaffarna AAanhum sayyiatihim walaadkhalnahum jannati alnnaAAeemi
And if only the People of the Book had believed (had wished to reach Allah before dying) and (so) had become the pious (the owners of piety), We would certainly have covered their evil deeds and We would certainly have made them enter Gardens of Bliss.
5/Al-Maidah-66: Walaw annahum aqamoo alttawrata waalinjeela wama onzila ilayhim min rabbihim laakaloo min fawqihim wamin tahti arjulihim minhum ommatun muqtasidatun wakatheerun minhum saa ma yaAAmaloona
And if they had kept up the Torah and the Gospel and that which has (now) been sent down to them from their Lord (the Qur'ân) they would certainly have eaten (many a Blessing) from above them and from beneath their feet; there is a party of them keeping to the moderate course [(who have attained to the rank of sainthood, friendship of Allah, but not to the continuous “zikîr” (repetition of the Name of Allah)] and (as for) most of them, evil is that which they do.
5/Al-Maidah-67: Ya ayyuha alrrasoolu balligh ma onzila ilayka min rabbika wain lam tafAAal fama ballaghta risalatahu waAllahu yaAAsimuka mina alnnasi inna Allaha la yahdee alqawma alkafireena
O Messenger! Proclaim what has been sent down to you from your Lord; and if you do not it, then you have not conveyed His Message. And Allah will protect you from the people; surely Allah does not guide the disbelieving people.
5/Al-Maidah-68: Qul ya ahla alkitabi lastum AAala shayin hatta tuqeemoo alttawrata waalinjeela wama onzila ilaykum min rabbikum walayazeedanna katheeran minhum ma onzila ilayka min rabbika tughyanan wakufran fala tasa AAala alqawmi alkafireena
Say: O People of the Book! You are not upon anything (any religion) till you keep up the Torah and the Gospel and what has (now) been sent to you from your Lord (the Qur'ân); and surely that which has been sent down to you from your Lord shall make many of them increase in inordinacy and disbelief; do not grieve therefore for the disbelieving people.
5/Al-Maidah-69: Inna allatheena amanoo waallatheena hadoo waalssabioona waalnnasara man amana biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri waAAamila salihan fala khawfun AAalayhim wala hum yahzanoona
Surely those who believe (who wish to reach Allah) and those who are Jews and Sabaeans (Sabians) and Christians, whoever (of them) believes in Allah and the Last Day and do improving deeds (that purify the souls’ hearts), then there is no fear on them, nor do they grieve.
5/Al-Maidah-70: Laqad akhathna meethaqa banee israeela waarsalna ilayhim rusulan kullama jaahum rasoolun bima la tahwa anfusuhum fareeqan kaththaboo wafareeqan yaqtuloona
Verily We took the Covenant of the Children of Israel and sent Messengers to them. Whenever a Messenger came to them with that which their souls did not desire, some (of them) did they call liars and some they killed.
5/Al-Maidah-71: Wahasiboo alla takoona fitnatun faAAamoo wasammoo thumma taba Allahu AAalayhim thumma AAamoo wasammoo katheerun minhum waAllahu baseerun bima yaAAmaloona
They thought that (what they did) would not be a Fitnah (trial, temptation, discord…), so they became blind and deaf ( they were unable to see and hear the truth) after that Allah turned (in mercy) towards them (accepted their repentance), but many of them became blind and deaf. And Allah is All-Seer of what they do.
5/Al-Maidah-72: Laqad kafara allatheena qaloo inna Allaha huwa almaseehu ibnu maryama waqala almaseehu ya banee israeela oAAbudoo Allaha rabbee warabbakum innahu man yushrik biAllahi faqad harrama Allahu AAalayhi aljannata wamawahu alnnaru wama lilththalimeena min ansarin
Certainly they have disbelieved who say: Surely Allah, He is the Messiah, son of Mary and the Messiah said: Serve (be servants to) Allah, my Lord and your Lord. Surely whoever associates (others) with Allah, then Allah has forbidden to him the Garden (Paradise) and his abode is the Fire; and there are no helpers for the wrong-doers (unjust, oppressors, polytheists).
5/Al-Maidah-73: Laqad kafara allatheena qaloo inna Allaha thalithu thalathatin wama min ilahin illa ilahun wahidun wain lam yantahoo AAamma yaqooloona layamassanna allatheena kafaroo minhum AAathabun aleemun
Certainly they have disbelieved who say: Surely Allah is the third of the three (in a Trinity); and there is no god but the one God, and if they do not desist from what they say, a painful torment will fall on (touch) those of them who disbelieve.
5/Al-Maidah-74: Afala yatooboona ila Allahi wayastaghfiroonahu waAllahu ghafoorun raheemun
Will they not then turn with repentance to Allah and ask His Forgiveness? For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
5/Al-Maidah-75: Ma almaseehu ibnu maryama illa rasoolun qad khalat min qablihi alrrusulu waommuhu siddeeqatun kana yakulani alttaAAama onthur kayfa nubayyinu lahumu alayati thumma onthur anna yufakoona
The Messiah, son of Mary, is but a Messenger; Messengers before him have indeed passed away; and his mother was a truthful woman; they both used to eat food. See how We make the Verses (Signs…) clear to them, then behold, how they are turned away (from Allah).
5/Al-Maidah-76: Qul ataAAbudoona min dooni Allahi ma la yamliku lakum darran wala nafAAan waAllahu huwa alssameeAAu alAAaleemu
Say: Do you serve (become servants) besides Allah something which has no power to harm or benefit you? But it is Allah who is the All-Hearer, All-Knower.
5/Al-Maidah-77: Qul ya ahla alkitabi la taghloo fee deenikum ghayra alhaqqi wala tattabiAAoo ahwaa qawmin qad dalloo min qablu waadalloo katheeran wadalloo AAan sawai alssabeeli
Say: O People of the Book! Be not unduly immoderate in your religion, and do not follow the low (vain) desires of a people who had fallen into Misguidance before and had caused many to fall into Misguidance and strayed from the levelled road (leading to Allah).
5/Al-Maidah-78: LuAAina allatheena kafaroo min banee israeela AAala lisani dawooda waAAeesa ibni maryama thalika bima AAasaw wakanoo yaAAtadoona
Those who disbelieved from among the Children of Israel were cursed by the tongue of David and Jesus, son of Mary; this was because they disobeyed (rebelled) and used to exceed the limits.
5/Al-Maidah-79: Kanoo la yatanahawna AAan munkarin faAAaloohu labisa ma kanoo yafAAaloona
They used not to forbid each other the hateful things (Munkar, what Allah has forbidden) (which) they did; certainly evil was that which they did.
5/Al-Maidah-80: Tara katheeran minhum yatawallawna allatheena kafaroo labisa ma qaddamat lahum anfusuhum an sakhita Allahu AAalayhim wafee alAAathabi hum khalidoona
You see many of them making friends with (turning into) those who disbelieve; certainly evil is that which their souls have sent before for them, that Allah became displeased with them (Allah’s Wrath fell upon them) and in the torment shall they abide.
5/Al-Maidah-81: Walaw kanoo yuminoona biAllahi waalnnabiyyi wama onzila ilayhi ma ittakhathoohum awliyaa walakinna katheeran minhum fasiqoona
And if they had believed in Allah and the Prophet and in what has been sent down to him, never would they have taken them as protecting friends (Auliyâ’) but most of them are Fasiqûn (transgressors, those who are in the Way of Allah or have gone out of it).
5/Al-Maidah-82: Latajidanna ashadda alnnasi AAadawatan lillatheena amanoo alyahooda waallatheena ashrakoo walatajidanna aqrabahum mawaddatan lillatheena amanoo allatheena qaloo inna nasara thalika bianna minhum qisseeseena waruhbanan waannahum la yastakbiroona
Certainly you will find the most vehement of men in enmity to the believers (to be) the Jews and those who are associators (idolaters, polytheists…), and you will certainly find the nearest in friendship (affection) to those who believe (to be) those who say: We are Christians; this is because there are priests and monks among them and because they do not behave proudly.
5/Al-Maidah-83: Waitha samiAAoo ma onzila ila alrrasooli tara aAAyunahum tafeedu mina alddamAAi mimma AAarafoo mina alhaqqi yaqooloona rabbana amanna faoktubna maAAa alshshahideena
And when they hear what has been sent down to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of the truth they have recognised; they say: Our Lord! We believe! So write us down with the witnesses (of the Truth).
5/Al-Maidah-84: Wama lana la numinu biAllahi wama jaana mina alhaqqi wanatmaAAu an yudkhilana rabbuna maAAa alqawmi alssaliheena
And why should we not believe in Allah and in that which has come to us of the Truth (in the Qur'ân and the Messenger)? while we earnestly desire (hope) that our Lord should cause us to enter (Paradise) along with the improved people (Sâlihîn).
5/Al-Maidah-85: Faathabahumu Allahu bima qaloo jannatin tajree min tahtiha alanharu khalideena feeha wathalika jazao almuhsineena
So because of what they said, Allah rewarded them Gardens under which the rivers flow, they will abide therein forever. Such is the Reward of the good-doers (Muhsinûn).
5/Al-Maidah-86: Waallatheena kafaroo wakaththaboo biayatina olaika ashabu aljaheemi
And (as for) those who disbelieve and deny Our Verses (Signs), these are the companions of the Flame (Hellfire).
5/Al-Maidah-87: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la tuharrimoo tayyibati ma ahalla Allahu lakum wala taAAtadoo inna Allaha la yuhibbu almuAAtadeena
O you who believe! Do not forbid the good and clean things which Allah has made lawful for you and do not exceed the limits (do not transgress). Verily, Allah does not love the transgressors (those who exceed the limits).
5/Al-Maidah-88: Wakuloo mimma razaqakumu Allahu halalan tayyiban waittaqoo Allaha allathee antum bihi muminoona
And eat of the good and clean (lawful things) that Allah has given you and have piety towards Allah, in Whom you are believers.
5/Al-Maidah-89: La yuakhithukumu Allahu biallaghwi fee aymanikum walakin yuakhithukum bima AAaqqadtumu alaymana fakaffaratuhu itAAamu AAasharati masakeena min awsati ma tutAAimoona ahleekum aw kiswatuhum aw tahreeru raqabatin faman lam yajid fasiyamu thalathati ayyamin thalika kaffaratu aymanikum itha halaftum waihfathoo aymanakum kathalika yubayyinu Allahu lakum ayatihi laAAallakum tashkuroona
Allah does not call you to account for what is vain (unintentional) in your oaths, but He calls you to account for the making of deliberate oaths; so its expiation is the feeding of ten poor men (needy) out of the middling (food) you feed your families with, or their clothing, or the freeing of a neck (slave); but whosoever cannot find (means) then fasting for three days; this is the expiation of your oaths when you swear; and guard (keep) your oaths; Thus does Allah make clear to you His Verses (Signs…), that you may be grateful.
5/Al-Maidah-90: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo innama alkhamru waalmaysiru waalansabu waalazlamu rijsun min AAamali alshshaytani faijtaniboohu laAAallakum tuflihoona
O you who believe (who are âmenû)! Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks) and gambling and (sacrificing to) stones set up and (dividing by) arrows are only an uncleanness, Satan’s handiwork. So avoid it in order that you may be successful (you may attain to the Salvation, i.e. to the Bliss in the Hereafter and the happiness in this worldly life).
5/Al-Maidah-91: Innama yureedu alshshaytanu an yooqiAAa baynakumu alAAadawata waalbaghdaa fee alkhamri waalmaysiri wayasuddakum AAan thikri Allahi waAAani alssalati fahal antum muntahoona
Satan seeks only to cast among you enmity and hatred by means of intoxicants (strong drink) and gambling, and to keep you off from the remembrance of Allah and from the Prayer. Will you then desist?
5/Al-Maidah-92: WaateeAAoo Allaha waateeAAoo alrrasoola waihtharoo fain tawallaytum faiAAlamoo annama AAala rasoolina albalaghu almubeenu
And obey Allah and obey the Messenger and be cautious (of opposing them), but if you turn back, then know that it is Our Messenger’s duty to convey (the Message) in the clearest way.
5/Al-Maidah-93: Laysa AAala allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati junahun feema taAAimoo itha ma ittaqaw waamanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati thumma ittaqaw waamanoo thumma ittaqaw waahsanoo waAllahu yuhibbu almuhsineena
On those who believe (who are âmenû, who wish to reach Allah while they are living) and do improving deeds (that purify the souls’ hearts) there is no sin (blame) for what they ate, when they did not have piety (the I. Piety, takwâ) and be âmenû (believe) and do improving deeds. And thereafter have piety (Attain to the third piety, takwâ. Be âmenû (believe) and then have piety (the 4. piety, takwâ) and be the best (the most beautiful) [do good deeds with Perfection, Ihsân. And Allah loves the good-doers, (those who became the best, who have attained to the 4. piety, takwâ)].
5/Al-Maidah-94: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo layabluwannakumu Allahu bishayin mina alssaydi tanaluhu aydeekum warimahukum liyaAAlama Allahu man yakhafuhu bialghaybi famani iAAtada baAAda thalika falahu AAathabun aleemun
O you who believe (who are âmenû)! Allah will certainly try you in respect of some game which your hands and your lances can reach, that Allah might know (test) who fears Him without seeing Him (in the Unseen), but whoever exceed the limit after this, then for him there is a painful torment.
5/Al-Maidah-95: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la taqtuloo alssayda waantum hurumun waman qatalahu minkum mutaAAammidan fajazaon mithlu ma qatala mina alnnaAAami yahkumu bihi thawa AAadlin minkum hadyan baligha alkaAAbati aw kaffaratun taAAamu masakeena aw AAadlu thalika siyaman liyathooqa wabala amrihi AAafa Allahu AAamma salafa waman AAada fayantaqimu Allahu minhu waAllahu AAazeezun thoo intiqamin
O you who believe! Do not kill wild game while you are in the state of consecration (Ihrâm), and whoever among you shall kill it intentionally, the compensation (of it) is the like of what he killed, from the cattle, as two just persons among you shall judge, as an offering to be brought to the Ka’ba or the expiation (of it) is the feeding of the poor or the equivalent of it in fasting, that he may taste the unwholesome result of his deed. Allah has pardoned what is gone by (these kinds of committed offences) and whoever returns (to it), Allah will inflict retribution on him; and Allah is All-Mighty, All-Able of Retribution.
5/Al-Maidah-96: Ohilla lakum saydu albahri wataAAamuhu mataAAan lakum walilssayyarati wahurrima AAalaykum saydu albarri ma dumtum huruman waittaqoo Allaha allathee ilayhi tuhsharoona
Lawful to you is the game of the sea and its food, a provision (benefit) for you and for the travellers, and the game of the land is forbidden to you so long as you are in the state of consecration for pilgrimage (Ihrâm) and have piety towards Allah, to Whom you shall be gathered.
5/Al-Maidah-97: JaAAala Allahu alkaAAbata albayta alharama qiyaman lilnnasi waalshshahra alharama waalhadya waalqalaida thalika litaAAlamoo anna Allaha yaAAlamu ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi waanna Allaha bikulli shayin AAaleemun
Allah has made the Ka’ba, the Sacred House, a maintenance for the people, and the sacred month and the offerings and the sacrificial animals with garlands; this is that you may know that Allah knows whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, and that Allah is the All-Knower of all things.
5/Al-Maidah-98: IAAlamoo anna Allaha shadeedu alAAiqabi waanna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun
Know that Allah is Severe in requiting (evil) and that Allah is Oft-Forgiving (the One who changes evil deeds into rewards), Most Merciful (the One who sends the light of mercy and has mercy on the believers).
5/Al-Maidah-99: Ma AAala alrrasooli illa albalaghu waAllahu yaAAlamu ma tubdoona wama taktumoona
Nothing is (incumbent) on the Messenger but to convey (the Message). And Allah knows what you proclaim and what you hide.
5/Al-Maidah-100: Qul la yastawee alkhabeethu waalttayyibu walaw aAAjabaka kathratu alkhabeethi faittaqoo Allaha ya olee alalbabi laAAallakum tuflihoona
Say: The bad (and unlawful) and the good (and clean, lawful) are not equal, though the abundance of the bad (and unlawful) may please you; so have piety towards Allah, o ûli’l elbâb! (the owners of the secret treasuries of Allah as they have attained to the continuous remembrance of Him), that you may succeed (you may attain to the Salvation, i.e. to the Bliss in the Hereafter and the happiness in this world).
5/Al-Maidah-101: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la tasaloo AAan ashyaa in tubda lakum tasukum wain tasaloo AAanha heena yunazzalu alquranu tubda lakum AAafa Allahu AAanha waAllahu ghafoorun haleemun
O you who believe (who are âmenû, who wish to reach Allah and to submit to Him while they are living)! Do not put questions about things which, if made plain to you, may trouble you, and if you question about them while the Qur'ân is being sent down, they shall be made plain to you. Allah has forgiven that (because of things you ask about without knowing this rule), and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Forbearing (Mild).
5/Al-Maidah-102: Qad saalaha qawmun min qablikum thumma asbahoo biha kafireena
A people before you indeed asked such questions, and then became disbelievers on account of them.
5/Al-Maidah-103: Ma jaAAala Allahu min baheeratin wala saibatin wala waseelatin wala hamin walakinna allatheena kafaroo yaftaroona AAala Allahi alkathiba waaktharuhum la yaAAqiloona
Allah has not instituted things like Bahîrah, or Sâ’ibah, or Wasîlah or Hâm [all these animals were liberated in honor of idols as practised by pagan Arabs in the pre-Islamic period), but those who disbelieve fabricate (invent) a lie against Allah, and most of them do not exercise their minds.
5/Al-Maidah-104: Waitha qeela lahum taAAalaw ila ma anzala Allahu waila alrrasooli qaloo hasbuna ma wajadna AAalayhi abaana awalaw kana abaohum la yaAAlamoona shayan wala yahtadoona
And when it is said to them: Come to what Allah has sent down (the Qur'ân) and to the Messenger (to the obedience to him), they say: That (religion) on which we found our fathers is sufficient for us. What! even though their fathers knew nothing (concerning these truths) and did not attain to Guidance?
5/Al-Maidah-105: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo AAalaykum anfusakum la yadurrukum man dalla itha ihtadaytum ila Allahi marjiAAukum jameeAAan fayunabbiokum bima kuntum taAAmaloona
O you who believe (who are âmenû)! Your souls are upon you (i.e. the responsibility of your souls are a duty upon you); he who is in Misguidance cannot harm you if you are on the Guidance; to Allah is the return of you all; and then He will inform you of what you used to do.
5/Al-Maidah-106: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo shahadatu baynikum itha hadara ahadakumu almawtu heena alwasiyyati ithnani thawa AAadlin minkum aw akharani min ghayrikum in antum darabtum fee alardi faasabatkum museebatu almawti tahbisoonahuma min baAAdi alssalati fayuqsimani biAllahi ini irtabtum la nashtaree bihi thamanan walaw kana tha qurba wala naktumu shahadata Allahi inna ithan lamina alathimeena
O you who believe (who are âmenû)! When (the state of) death draws nigh to one of you, at the time of bequest, let two just men from among you bear witness between you, or if (the calamity of) death befalls you while you are travelling in the land, call to witness the two men who are not of you. You should detain them after the prayer; then if you doubt (them) they shall both swear by Allah (saying): We will not take for it a price, even though it were (on behalf of) a near kinsman, and we will not hide the testimony of Allah, for then certainly we should be of the sinful (sinners).
5/Al-Maidah-107: Fain AAuthira AAala annahuma istahaqqa ithman faakharani yaqoomani maqamahuma mina allatheena istahaqqa AAalayhimu alawlayani fayuqsimani biAllahi lashahadatuna ahaqqu min shahadatihima wama iAAtadayna inna ithan lamina alththalimeena
Then if it becomes known that they both have been guilty of sin, two others shall stand up in their place from among those who have against them, the two nearest in kin, so they two should swear by Allah: Certainly our testimony is truer than the testimony of those two, and We have not exceeded the limit, for then most surely we should be of the wrongdoers (unjust).
5/Al-Maidah-108: Thalika adna an yatoo bialshshahadati AAala wajhiha aw yakhafoo an turadda aymanun baAAda aymanihim waittaqoo Allaha waismaAAoo waAllahu la yahdee alqawma alfasiqeena
This (kind of oath) is more proper than the fact that they come face to face with the witness (that the inheritors do not trust in the witness) or fear that (other) oaths will be refused after their oaths. [This is more proper in order that they should give testimony truly or fear that (other) oaths be given after their oaths] and have piety (takwâ) towards Allah and hear (listen). And Allah does not guide the transgressing people (Al-Fasiqûn=those who are not in the Way of Allah or have gone out of it).
5/Al-Maidah-109: Yawma yajmaAAu Allahu alrrusula fayaqoolu matha ojibtum qaloo la AAilma lana innaka anta AAallamu alghuyoobi
On the Day when Allah will gather the Messengers together and say to them: what answer were you given? They shall say: We have no knowledge, surely, only You are the All-Knower of all that is hidden (unseen).
5/Al-Maidah-110: Ith qala Allahu ya AAeesa ibna maryama othkur niAAmatee AAalayka waAAala walidatika ith ayyadtuka biroohi alqudusi tukallimu alnnasa fee almahdi wakahlan waith AAallamtuka alkitaba waalhikmata waalttawrata waalinjeela waith takhluqu mina altteeni kahayati alttayri biithnee fatanfukhu feeha fatakoonu tayran biithnee watubrio alakmaha waalabrasa biithnee waith tukhriju almawta biithnee waith kafaftu banee israeela AAanka ith jitahum bialbayyinati faqala allatheena kafaroo minhum in hatha illa sihrun mubeenun
When Allah said: O Jesus, son of Mary! Remember My Blessing on you and on your mother, when I strengthened (supported) you with the Holy Spirit, you spoke to the people in the cradle as in maturity (and when of old age), and when I taught you the Book and the Wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel; and when you did shape out of the clay a figure like that of a bird by My Permission, then you breathed into it and it became a bird by My Permission, and you healed the blind and the leprous by My Permission; and when you brought forth the death by My Permission and when I withheld the Children of Israel from you when you came to them with the clear arguments, but those who disbelieved (who were in the disbelief) among them said: This is nothing but clear magic.
5/Al-Maidah-111: Waith awhaytu ila alhawariyyeena an aminoo bee wabirasoolee qaloo amanna waishhad biannana muslimoona
And when I revealed to the disciples: Believe in Me and My Messenger, they said: We believe and bear witness that we have surrendered (to the Truth, Hakk).
5/Al-Maidah-112: Ith qala alhawariyyoona ya AAeesa ibna maryama hal yastateeAAu rabbuka an yunazzila AAalayna maidatan mina alssamai qala ittaqoo Allaha in kuntum mumineena
When the disciples said: O Jesus, son of Mary! Is your Lord able to send down for us a table spread with food from the heaven? Jesus said: Have piety (keep your consciousness of responsibility) towards Allah, if you are indeed believers).
5/Al-Maidah-113: Qaloo nureedu an nakula minha watatmainna quloobuna wanaAAlama an qad sadaqtana wanakoona AAalayha mina alshshahideena
They said: We desire that we should eat of it and that our hearts should be satisfied and that we may know that you have indeed spoken the truth to us and that we may be of the witnesses to it.
5/Al-Maidah-114: Qala AAeesa ibnu maryama allahumma rabbana anzil AAalayna maidatan mina alssamai takoonu lana AAeedan liawwalina waakhirina waayatan minka waorzuqna waanta khayru alrraziqeena
Jesus, son of Mary, said: O Allah! Our Lord! Send down for us a table spread with food from the heaven, that it may be a feast (an ever recurring happiness), to the first of us and to the last of us and a Sign (a miracle) from You, and provide us with sustenance, for You are the Best of sustainers.
5/Al-Maidah-115: Qala Allahu innee munazziluha AAalaykum faman yakfur baAAdu minkum fainnee oAAaththibuhu AAathaban la oAAaththibuhu ahadan mina alAAalameena
Allah said: Surely I will send it down to you, but whoever shall disbelieve afterwards from among you, surely I will torment him with a torment with which I will not torment anyone among the worlds.
5/Al-Maidah-116: Waith qala Allahu ya AAeesa ibna maryama aanta qulta lilnnasi ittakhithoonee waommiya ilahayni min dooni Allahi qala subhanaka ma yakoonu lee an aqoola ma laysa lee bihaqqin in kuntu qultuhu faqad AAalimtahu taAAlamu ma fee nafsee wala aAAlamu ma fee nafsika innaka anta AAallamu alghuyoobi
And (remember) when Allah said: O Jesus, son of Mary! Did you say to the men: Take me and my mother for two gods besides Allah, he said: Glory be to You, it did not befit me that I should say what I had no right to (say); if I had said it, You would indeed have known it. You does know what is in my soul (’s heart) and I do not know what is in Your Essence: Surely, You only You, are the All-Knower of all that is hidden (unseen, unknown).
5/Al-Maidah-117: Ma qultu lahum illa ma amartanee bihi ani oAAbudoo Allaha rabbee warabbakum wakuntu AAalayhim shaheedan ma dumtu feehim falamma tawaffaytanee kunta anta alrraqeeba AAalayhim waanta AAala kulli shayin shaheedun
I spoke to them only that which You commanded me (saying): Serve (be servants to) Allah, My Lord and your Lord. I was a witness of them while I dwelt among them, and when you did cause me to die (when You took me up), You were the Watcher over them. And You are Witness over all things.
5/Al-Maidah-118: In tuAAaththibhum fainnahum AAibaduka wain taghfir lahum fainnaka anta alAAazeezu alhakeemu
If you torment (punish) them, they are Your servants and if You forgive them, verily You, only You, are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise (the Owner of the Judgement and Wisdom).
5/Al-Maidah-119: Qala Allahu hatha yawmu yanfaAAu alssadiqeena sidquhum lahum jannatun tajree min tahtiha alanharu khalideena feeha abadan radiya Allahu AAanhum waradoo AAanhu thalika alfawzu alAAatheemu
Allah said: This is a Day when their truthfulness profits the truthful. For them there are Gardens under which the rivers flow, to abide in them forever; Allah is Well Pleased with them and they are well pleased with Allah. This is the mighty triumph (success).
5/Al-Maidah-120: Lillahi mulku alssamawati waalardi wama feehinna wahuwa AAala kulli shayin qadeerun
Allah’s is the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever in them; and He has Power over all things.
