88/Al-Ghashiya-1: Hal ataka hadeethu alghashiyati
Has the news of the Overwhelmer (The terrible Calamity that will envelop and surround all) come to you?

88/Al-Ghashiya-2: Wujoohun yawmaithin khashiAAatun
On that Day (some) faces will be humiliated.

88/Al-Ghashiya-3: AAamilatun nasibatun
Laboring, weary.

88/Al-Ghashiya-4: Tasla naran hamiyatan
They will be flung into a hot blazing Fire (They will prop themselves against a burning Fire),

88/Al-Ghashiya-5: Tusqa min AAaynin aniyatin
(They will be) made to drink from a boiling spring.

88/Al-Ghashiya-6: Laysa lahum taAAamun illa min dareeAAin
No food will there be for them but a bitter stinking thornfruit (Dari’).

88/Al-Ghashiya-7: La yusminu wala yughnee min jooAAin
Which will neither nourish nor release from hunger (nor avail against hunger).

88/Al-Ghashiya-8: Wujoohun yawmaithin naAAimatun
(Other) faces that Day (of Permission) will be beautiful and bright (joyful, blissful).

88/Al-Ghashiya-9: LisaAAyiha radiyatun
Well-pleased because of their striving (endeavors, labors in the world).

88/Al-Ghashiya-10: Fee jannatin AAaliyatin
(They will be) in a lofty Garden (Paradise).

88/Al-Ghashiya-11: La tasmaAAu feeha laghiyatan
Wherein you shall not hear vain (idle) talk.

88/Al-Ghashiya-12: Feeha AAaynun jariyatun
Therein is a running spring.

88/Al-Ghashiya-13: Feeha sururun marfooAAatun
Therein are raised soft couches (thrones raised high).

88/Al-Ghashiya-14: Waakwabun mawdooAAatun
And drinking-cups ready placed (goblets set at hand).

88/Al-Ghashiya-15: Wanamariqu masfoofatun
And cushions set in rows (cushions arrayed).

88/Al-Ghashiya-16: Wazarabiyyu mabthoothatun
And rich carpets (all) spread out.

88/Al-Ghashiya-17: Afala yanthuroona ila alibili kayfa khuliqat
Do they not then consider (look at) the camels, how they are created?

88/Al-Ghashiya-18: Waila alssamai kayfa rufiAAat
And the heaven, how it is raised?

88/Al-Ghashiya-19: Waila aljibali kayfa nusibat
And the mountains, how they are erected (rooted and fixed firm)?

88/Al-Ghashiya-20: Waila alardi kayfa sutihat
And the earth, how it is surfaced?

88/Al-Ghashiya-21: Fathakkir innama anta muthakkirun
Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder (you are one to remind).

88/Al-Ghashiya-22: Lasta AAalayhim bimusaytirin
You are not a compeller (dictator) over them.

88/Al-Ghashiya-23: Illa man tawalla wakafara
But whoever turns away and disbelieves,

88/Al-Ghashiya-24: FayuAAaththibuhu Allahu alAAathaba alakbara
Allah will torment (punish) him with the greatest torment.

88/Al-Ghashiya-25: Inna ilayna iyabahum
Surely to Us is their return.

88/Al-Ghashiya-26: Thumma inna AAalayna hisabahum
Then surely upon Us the taking of their account (their reckoning).
