Sura List » Al-Fajr

89/Al-Fajr-1: Waalfajri
(I swear) by the daybreak (the dawn),

89/Al-Fajr-2: Walayalin AAashrin
And (by) ten nights,

89/Al-Fajr-3: WaalshshafAAi waalwatri
And (by) the Even and the Odd,

89/Al-Fajr-4: Waallayli itha yasri
And (by) the night when it passes away;

89/Al-Fajr-5: Hal fee thalika qasamun lithee hijrin
Truly is there (not) in that an oath for those who possess understanding?

89/Al-Fajr-6: Alam tara kayfa faAAala rabbuka biAAadin
Have you not considered (seen) how your Lord dealt with (the tribe of) ‘Âd?

89/Al-Fajr-7: Irama thati alAAimadi
(The people) of the many-columned city of Iram?

89/Al-Fajr-8: Allatee lam yukhlaq mithluha fee albiladi
The like of which were not created in the (other) cities;

89/Al-Fajr-9: Wathamooda allatheena jaboo alssakhra bialwadi
And with (the tribe of) Thamûd, who hewed out the rocks in the valley,

89/Al-Fajr-10: WafirAAawna thee alawtadi
And (with) Pharaoh having stakes.

89/Al-Fajr-11: Allatheena taghaw fee albiladi
Who committed inordinacy in the cities (lands).

89/Al-Fajr-12: Faaktharoo feeha alfasada
So they made great mischief (multiplied corruption) therein.

89/Al-Fajr-13: Fasabba AAalayhim rabbuka sawta AAathabin
So your Lord poured out (let loose) on them the whip of torment.

89/Al-Fajr-14: Inna rabbaka labialmirsadi
Most surely your Lord is Ever Watchful (over them).

89/Al-Fajr-15: Faamma alinsanu itha ma ibtalahu rabbuhu faakramahu wanaAAAAamahu fayaqoolu rabbee akramani
And as for man, when his Lord tries (tests) him, then treats him with honor (generosity) and bestows blessings on him, them he says (in exultation): My Lord has honored me (has treated me generously).

89/Al-Fajr-16: Waamma itha ma ibtalahu faqadara AAalayhi rizqahu fayaqoolu rabbee ahanani
But when he tries (tests) him (differently), then straitens to him his means of subsistence, then he says: My Lord has betrayed (degraded) me.

89/Al-Fajr-17: Kalla bal la tukrimoona alyateema
Nay (it is not so)! But you do not honor (give generously to) the orphan,

89/Al-Fajr-18: Wala tahaddoona AAala taAAami almiskeeni
Nor do you urge one another to feed the needy,

89/Al-Fajr-19: Watakuloona altturatha aklan lamman
And you eat away the inheritance, devouring (everything) indiscriminately (with greed).

89/Al-Fajr-20: Watuhibboona almala hubban jamman
And you love wealth with an exceeding love.

89/Al-Fajr-21: Kalla itha dukkati alardu dakkan dakkan
Nay! When the earth is made to crumble to pieces (When the earth is ground to powder).

89/Al-Fajr-22: Wajaa rabbuka waalmalaku saffan saffan
And your Lord comes and (also) the angles in ranks (rows).

89/Al-Fajr-23: Wajeea yawmaithin bijahannama yawmaithin yatathakkaru alinsanu waanna lahu alththikra
And Hell is brought near on that Day (of Permission). On that Day (of Permission) man will remember (be mindful) and what will remembrance (being mindful) avail him?

89/Al-Fajr-24: Yaqoolu ya laytanee qaddamtu lihayatee
He will say: Alas! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) in my lifetime (while I was living)!

89/Al-Fajr-25: Fayawmaithin la yuAAaththibu AAathabahu ahadun
So on that Day (of Permission) none can torment (punish) like His Torment.

89/Al-Fajr-26: Wala yoothiqu wathaqahu ahadun
And no one can bind like His binding.

89/Al-Fajr-27: Ya ayyatuha alnnafsu almutmainnatu
O (you) the soul satisfied!

89/Al-Fajr-28: IrjiAAee ila rabbiki radiyatan mardiyyatan
Return to your Lord [O (you) the spirit!], well-pleased (with Him), well-pleasing (Him),

89/Al-Fajr-29: Faodkhulee fee AAibadee
[O (you) the physical body!] then (when you have purified your soul’s heart and made your spirit reach Allah, you become a servant to Me) enter among My servants,

89/Al-Fajr-30: Waodkhulee jannatee
And enter My Garden (Paradise)!
