Sura List » Al-Baqara

2/Al-Baqara-1: Aliflammeem
Alif, Lâm, Mim. (These disjointed letters are one of the miracles of the Qur’ân and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings)

2/Al-Baqara-2: Thalika alkitabu la rayba feehi hudan lilmuttaqeena
This is the Book in which there is no doubt, in it is Guidance for those who are Al-Muttaqin [(who wish to reach Allah before dying), the pious persons who abstain which He has forbidden and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)].

2/Al-Baqara-3: Allatheena yuminoona bialghaybi wayuqeemoona alssalata wamimma razaqnahum yunfiqoona
Who believe in the Ghaib (in the Unseen), establish the Salât-Prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them.

2/Al-Baqara-4: Waallatheena yuminoona bima onzila ilayka wama onzila min qablika wabialakhirati hum yooqinoona
And who believe in that which has been sent down to you and in that which were sent down before You (all the Heavenly Books) and they believe with certainty in the Hereafter (in the fact that they will make their spirits reach Allah before death).

2/Al-Baqara-5: Olaika AAala hudan min rabbihim waolaika humu almuflihoona
They are on (true) Guidance from their Lord and they are the successful (and they will reach the Salvation, the Bliss in the Hereafter and the happiness in this world).

2/Al-Baqara-6: Inna allatheena kafaroo sawaon AAalayhim aanthartahum am lam tunthirhum la yuminoona
Verily, those who disbelieve, it is the same to them whether you warn them or do not warn them, they will not believe.

2/Al-Baqara-7: Khatama Allahu AAala quloobihim waAAala samAAihim waAAala absarihim ghishawatun walahum AAathabun AAatheemun
Allah has set a seal on their hearts and on their sight there is a covering. For them there is a great torment.

2/Al-Baqara-8: Wamina alnnasi man yaqoolu amanna biAllahi wabialyawmi alakhiri wama hum bimumineena
And of mankind, there are some (hypocrites) who say: We believe in Allah and the Last Day (in the day the spirit will reach Allah while the man is living) and they are not at all believers.

2/Al-Baqara-9: YukhadiAAoona Allaha waallatheena amanoo wama yakhdaAAoona illa anfusahum wama yashAAuroona
They (think to) deceive Allah and those who believe and they deceive only themselves and they do not perceive (it).

2/Al-Baqara-10: Fee quloobihim maradun fazadahumu Allahu maradan walahum AAathabun aleemun bima kanoo yakthiboona
In their hearts is a disease and Allah has increased their disease. There is a painful torment for them because they lied (reaching Allah before death).

2/Al-Baqara-11: Waitha qeela lahum la tufsidoo fee alardi qaloo innama nahnu muslihoona
And when it is said to them (to those whose hearts are impeded and whose disease Allah has increased because they prevent others from Guidance): Do not make mischief in the earth (do not prevent others from the Way of Allah) they say: We are only those who improve [those who teach the Religion and who purify the souls (‘hearts)].

2/Al-Baqara-12: Ala innahum humu almufsidoona walakin la yashAAuroona
now surely they themselves are the mischief makers, but they do not perceive (it), do they?

2/Al-Baqara-13: Waitha qeela lahum aminoo kama amana alnnasu qaloo anuminu kama amana alssufahao ala innahum humu alssufahao walakin la yaAAlamoona
And when it is said to them: Be “âmenû” (believe, wish to reach Allah before dying) as the people have believed, they say: Shall we believe as the fools have believed? Verily, they are the fools, but they do not know, do they? (

2/Al-Baqara-14: Waitha laqoo allatheena amanoo qaloo amanna waitha khalaw ila shayateenihim qaloo inna maAAakum innama nahnu mustahzioona
And when they meet those who believe (who are “âmenû”) they say: We believe, but when they are alone with their satans, they say: Truly, we are with you, we were but mocking.

2/Al-Baqara-15: Allahu yastahzio bihim wayamudduhum fee tughyanihim yaAAmahoona
Allah (Himself) does mock at them, and He leaves them alone in their inordinacy, blindly wandering on.

2/Al-Baqara-16: Olaika allatheena ishtarawoo alddalalata bialhuda fama rabihat tijaratuhum wama kanoo muhtadeena
These are they who have purchased Misguidance for Guidance, so their commerce did not bring any gain and they had not attained to Guidance.

2/Al-Baqara-17: Mathaluhum kamathali allathee istawqada naran falamma adaat ma hawlahu thahaba Allahu binoorihim watarakahum fee thulumatin la yubsiroona
Their likeness (condition) is as the likeness of one who kindled a fire; then, when it lighted all around him, Allah took away their light and left them in darkness. (so) they could not see.

2/Al-Baqara-18: Summun bukmun AAumyun fahum la yarjiAAoona
(They are) deaf, dumb (and) blind, so they do not return (to their Lord).

2/Al-Baqara-19: Aw kasayyibin mina alssamai feehi thulumatun waraAAdun wabarqun yajAAaloona asabiAAahum fee athanihim mina alssawaAAiqi hathara almawti waAllahu muheetun bialkafireena
Or like (the one exposed to) a rainstorm from the sky, wherein is darkness and thunder and lightning; they put their fingers into their ears for fear of Allah and Allah encompasses the disbelievers.

2/Al-Baqara-20: Yakadu albarqu yakhtafu absarahum kullama adaa lahum mashaw feehi waitha athlama AAalayhim qamoo walaw shaa Allahu lathahaba bisamAAihim waabsarihim inna Allaha AAala kulli shayin qadeerun
The lightning almost takes away (dazzles) their sight; whenever it flashes for them, they walk in it, and when it becomes dark to them they stand still; and if Allah had willed He would certainly have taken away their hearing and their sight; surely Allah has power over all things.

2/Al-Baqara-21: Ya ayyuha alnnasu oAAbudoo rabbakumu allathee khalaqakum waallatheena min qablikum laAAallakum tattaqoona
O men (mankind)! Serve (be servants to) your Lord Who created you and those before you, so that you may become the pious [(Al-Muttakûn, the possessors of the piety (Takvâ)].

2/Al-Baqara-22: Allathee jaAAala lakumu alarda firashan waalssamaa binaan waanzala mina alssamai maan faakhraja bihi mina alththamarati rizqan lakum fala tajAAaloo lillahi andadan waantum taAAlamoona
Who made the earth a bed (a resting place) for you, and the heaven (the sky) a canopy (edifice), and it is He who sends down water (rain) from the sky, then brings forth with it subsistence for you of the fruits; and do not set up rivals to Allah knowingly [while you know (that He Alone has the right to be served, worshipped)].

2/Al-Baqara-23: Wain kuntum fee raybin mimma nazzalna AAala AAabdina fatoo bisooratin min mithlihi waodAAoo shuhadaakum min dooni Allahi in kuntum sadiqeena
And if you are in doubt as to that which We have sent down to Our servant, then produce a Sûrah (chapter) of the like thereof and call your witnesses (who are) apart from Allah, if you are truthful.

2/Al-Baqara-24: Fain lam tafAAaloo walan tafAAaloo faittaqoo alnnara allatee waqooduha alnnasu waalhijaratu oAAiddat lilkafireena
But if you cannot do it-and you can never do it, then guard yourselves against the Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers (unbelievers).

2/Al-Baqara-25: Wabashshiri allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati anna lahum jannatin tajree min tahtiha alanharu kullama ruziqoo minha min thamaratin rizqan qaloo hatha allathee ruziqna min qablu waotoo bihi mutashabihan walahum feeha azwajun mutahharatun wahum feeha khalidoona
And give glad tidings to those who are “âmenû” ( who wish to reach Allah in spirit before dying) and do improving deeds (that purify and refine the souls’ hearts), that for them will be Gardens under which rivers flow. Every time they will be provided with a fruit therefrom, they will say: This is what we were provided with before and they will be given things in resemblance (i.e. in the same form but different in taste) and there will be therein for them purified wives (mates) and they will abide therein forever.

2/Al-Baqara-26: Inna Allaha la yastahyee an yadriba mathalan ma baAAoodatan fama fawqaha faamma allatheena amanoo fayaAAlamoona annahu alhaqqu min rabbihim waamma allatheena kafaroo fayaqooloona matha arada Allahu bihatha mathalan yudillu bihi katheeran wayahdee bihi katheeran wama yudillu bihi illa alfasiqeena
Surely Allah is not ashamed to set forth a parable even of a mosquito (a gnat) or any thing above that; then as for those who are âmenû (who believe, who wish to reach Allah while they are living), they know that it is the truth from their Lord, and as for those who disbelieve, they say: What is it that Allah means by this parable? By it He misleads (He leaves) many in Misguidance, and many He guides thereby. And he misleads thereby only those who are “Al-Fâsiqûn” (the ones who are not in the Way of Allah or who have gone out of it).

2/Al-Baqara-27: Allatheena yanqudoona AAahda Allahi min baAAdi meethaqihi wayaqtaAAoona ma amara Allahu bihi an yoosala wayufsidoona fee alardi olaika humu alkhasiroona
Who break Allah’s Covenant after the Pact that they had made with Allah (on the day of “qâlû belâ” they said (in the pre-eternity): Yes, You are our Lord! and cut asunder (sever) what Allah has ordered them to make reach Him (Allah). [they prevent others from making their spirits reach Allah and because of this) they do mischief on earth, it is they who are the losers (those whose positive degrees they have gained are fewer than their negative degrees).

2/Al-Baqara-28: Kayfa takfuroona biAllahi wakuntum amwatan faahyakum thumma yumeetukum thumma yuhyeekum thumma ilayhi turjaAAoona
How can you disbelieve in Allah? (How do you deny Allah) and (on the Day of Resurrection, after the Trumpet is blown firstly) you were dead, (as the Time works backwards on the Day of Resurrection) He gave you life. Then (when the Trumpet is blown secondly) He will cause you to die (anew) and then (when the Trumpet is blown thirdly) He will bring you again to life and you will return to Him (in the Divine Presence). (29) He it is Who created for you all that there is in (on) the Earth; then He rose over towards the heaven and fashioned it into seven heavens. He has full knowledge of all things (He is the All-Knower of everything).

2/Al-Baqara-29: Huwa allathee khalaqa lakum ma fee alardi jameeAAan thumma istawa ila alssamai fasawwahunna sabAAa samawatin wahuwa bikulli shayin AAaleemun
He it is Who created for you all that there is in (on) the Earth; then He rose over towards the heaven and fashioned it into seven heavens. He has full knowledge of all things (He is the All-Knower of everything).

2/Al-Baqara-30: Waith qala rabbuka lilmalaikati innee jaAAilun fee alardi khaleefatan qaloo atajAAalu feeha man yufsidu feeha wayasfiku alddimaa wanahnu nusabbihu bihamdika wanuqaddisu laka qala innee aAAlamu ma la taAAlamoona
And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: Verily, I am going to place in the earth a vicegerent (khalif), they said: Will you place therein those who will make mischief therein and shed blood and we glorify you with praises and sanctify You? He said: Surely I know what you do not know.

2/Al-Baqara-31: WaAAallama adama alasmaa kullaha thumma AAaradahum AAala almalaikati faqala anbioonee biasmai haolai in kuntum sadiqeena
And He taught Adam all the names, then He showed them to the Angels and said: Tell Me the names of these, if you are truthful.

2/Al-Baqara-32: Qaloo subhanaka la AAilma lana illa ma AAallamtana innaka anta alAAaleemu alhakeemu
They said: Glory be to you, we have no knowledge except that which you have taught us. Verily, it is You, the All-Knower, the All-Wise.

2/Al-Baqara-33: Qala ya adamu anbihum biasmaihim falamma anbaahum biasmaihim qala alam aqul lakum innee aAAlamu ghayba alssamawati waalardi waaAAlamu ma tubdoona wama kuntum taktumoona
He said: O Adam! Inform them of their names and when he had informed them of their names, He (Allah) said: Did I not say to you that I surely know the Unseen (the Ghaib) in the heavens and the earth and I know what you manifest and what you hide (conceal).

2/Al-Baqara-34: Waith qulna lilmalaikati osjudoo liadama fasajadoo illa ibleesa aba waistakbara wakana mina alkafireena
And (remember) when We said to the angels: Prostrate yourselves before Adam and they prostrated themselves, except Iblîs (Satan), he refused and he was proud and he was one of the unbelievers.

2/Al-Baqara-35: Waqulna ya adamu oskun anta wazawjuka aljannata wakula minha raghadan haythu shituma wala taqraba hathihi alshshajarata fatakoona mina alththalimeena
And We said: O Adam! Dwell you and your wife in the Paradise and eat both of you freely with pleasure and delight, of things therein wherever you wish and do not approach this tree, for then you will be of the wrong-doers (the unjust, the transgressors).

2/Al-Baqara-36: Faazallahuma alshshaytanu AAanha faakhrajahuma mimma kana feehi waqulna ihbitoo baAAdukum libaAAdin AAaduwwun walakum fee alardi mustaqarrun wamataAAun ila heenin
Then Satan made them slip therefrom and got them out from that (blessing) in which they were; and We said: Get you down, some of you being the enemies of others and there is for you in the earth a dwelling- place and a provision for a time.

2/Al-Baqara-37: Fatalaqqa adamu min rabbihi kalimatin fataba AAalayhi innahu huwa alttawwabu alrraheemu
Then Adam received from his Lord (some) words. (and presented his repentance to his Lord) and He accepted his repentance. Verily, He is the Forgiver, the Most Merciful (the One who sends the light of mercy).

2/Al-Baqara-38: Qulna ihbitoo minha jameeAAan faimma yatiyannakum minnee hudan faman tabiAAa hudaya fala khawfun AAalayhim wala hum yahzanoona
We said: Get down all of you from here (the Paradise), then whenever there comes to you Guidance from Me, and whoever depends on (follows) My Guidance, there shall be no fear on them, nor shall they grieve.

2/Al-Baqara-39: Waallatheena kafaroo wakaththaboo biayatina olaika ashabu alnnari hum feeha khalidoona
And (as to) those who disbelieve and belie (reject) our Signs (Âyât), they are the inmates of the Fire, where they will remain forever.

2/Al-Baqara-40: Ya banee israeela othkuroo niAAmatiya allatee anAAamtu AAalaykum waawfoo biAAahdee oofi biAAahdikum waiyyaya fairhabooni
O Children of Israel! Remember My Blessing which I bestowed upon you and fulfil My Covenant (with you) so that I fulfil your covenant (with Me), and fear Me Alone.

2/Al-Baqara-41: Waaminoo bima anzaltu musaddiqan lima maAAakum wala takoonoo awwala kafirin bihi wala tashtaroo biayatee thamanan qaleelan waiyyaya faittaqooni
And believe in what I have sent down (this Qur’ân), confirming that which is with you (the Torah), and be not the first to deny it, neither take a mean price in exchange for My Verses, and fear me and Me Alone.

2/Al-Baqara-42: Wala talbisoo alhaqqa bialbatili wataktumoo alhaqqa waantum taAAlamoona
And do not mix up the truth with the falsehood, nor knowingly conceal the truth.

2/Al-Baqara-43: Waaqeemoo alssalata waatoo alzzakata wairkaAAoo maAAa alrrakiAAeena
Establish salât-Prayer, and give Zakât, and bow down with those who bow down.

2/Al-Baqara-44: Atamuroona alnnasa bialbirri watansawna anfusakum waantum tatloona alkitaba afala taAAqiloona
What! Do you enjoin Al-Birr [the purification of the soul’s heart and the submission (to Allah)] and you forget yourselves while you read the Book? Have you then no sense?

2/Al-Baqara-45: WaistaAAeenoo bialssabri waalssalati wainnaha lakabeeratun illa AAala alkhashiAAeena
And seek assistance (from Allah) through patience and Prayer (the requirement prayer) and truly it [to ask Allah about his murshid who will make him reach Allah through the requirement prayer] is extremely heavy and hard except for the owners of “hushu’” (humility, 2% of light of mercy accumulated in the soul’s heart by means of the repetition of the Name of Allah)].

2/Al-Baqara-46: Allatheena yathunnoona annahum mulaqoo rabbihim waannahum ilayhi rajiAAoona
(These owners of hushu’ are those) who are certain that they are going to meet their Lord (while they are alive) and that they shall return to Him (with their death).

2/Al-Baqara-47: Ya banee israeela othkuroo niAAmatiya allatee anAAamtu AAalaykum waannee faddaltukum AAala alAAalameena
O Children of Israel! Remember My Blessing that I bestowed upon you and how I preferred you above all the worlds.

2/Al-Baqara-48: Waittaqoo yawman la tajzee nafsun AAan nafsin shayan wala yuqbalu minha shafaAAatun wala yukhathu minha AAadlun wala hum yunsaroona
And guard yourselves against a Day when a soul shall not avail another, nor will intercession be accepted from him nor will compensation be taken from him nor will they be helped.

2/Al-Baqara-49: Waith najjaynakum min ali firAAawna yasoomoonakum sooa alAAathabi yuthabbihoona abnaakum wayastahyoona nisaakum wafee thalikum balaon min rabbikum AAatheemun
And (remember) when We delivered you from Pharaoh’s people, who were afflicting you with a horrible torment, killing your sons and sparing your women and in this there was a great trial from your Lord.

2/Al-Baqara-50: Waith faraqna bikumu albahra faanjaynakum waaghraqna ala firAAawna waantum tanthuroona
And (remember) when We parted the sea for you, so We saved you and drowned Pharaoh’s people while you were looking (at them, when the sea-water covered them).

2/Al-Baqara-51: Waith waAAadna moosa arbaAAeena laylatan thumma ittakhathtumu alAAijla min baAAdihi waantum thalimoona
And (remember) when We appointed for Moses forty nights, then you took the calf (for a god) after him and you were wrongdoers (unjust).

2/Al-Baqara-52: Thumma AAafawna AAankum min baAAdi thalika laAAallakum tashkuroona
Then We forgave you after that (after your taking the calf for a god) so that you might give thanks.

2/Al-Baqara-53: Waith atayna moosa alkitaba waalfurqana laAAallakum tahtadoona
And when We gave Moses the Book and the Distinction (Furqân) that you might attain to Guidance.

2/Al-Baqara-54: Waith qala moosa liqawmihi ya qawmi innakum thalamtum anfusakum biittikhathikumu alAAijla fatooboo ila bariikum faoqtuloo anfusakum thalikum khayrun lakum AAinda bariikum fataba AAalaykum innahu huwa alttawwabu alrraheemu
And when Moses said to his people: O my people, you have wronged yourselves by taking the calf (for a god), therefore turn to your Creator in repentance, and kill yourselves. That is best for you with your Creator, Thus He accepted your repentance. Surely, He is the oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

2/Al-Baqara-55: Waith qultum ya moosa lan numina laka hatta nara Allaha jahratan faakhathatkumu alssaAAiqatu waantum tanthuroona
And when you said to Moses (Mûsâ): we shall never believe in you until we see Allah manifestly. But you were seized with a thunder-bolt while you were looking on.

2/Al-Baqara-56: Thumma baAAathnakum min baAAdi mawtikum laAAallakum tashkuroona
Then We raised you up after your death so that you might be grateful.

2/Al-Baqara-57: Wathallalna AAalaykumu alghamama waanzalna AAalaykumu almanna waalssalwa kuloo min tayyibati ma razaqnakum wama thalamoona walakin kanoo anfusahum yathlimoona
And We made the clouds to give shade over you and sent down upon you Al-Manna (a kind of sweet gum) and the quails, (saying): Eat of the good lawful things We have provided for you. And they did not wrong Us but they wronged themselves (their own souls).

2/Al-Baqara-58: Waith qulna odkhuloo hathihi alqaryata fakuloo minha haythu shitum raghadan waodkhuloo albaba sujjadan waqooloo hittatun naghfir lakum khatayakum wasanazeedu almuhsineena
And (remember) when We said: Go into this town and eat bountifully from it (from its blessings) wherever you wish, and enter the gate in prostration and say: “hıtta” (=we wish that our sins may be forgiven) and We shall forgive you your sins (We shall change your sins into rewards) and shall increase (the blessings) for the good-doers (=Muhsinûn=those who have submitted their physical bodies to Allah by making them servants to Him).

2/Al-Baqara-59: Fabaddala allatheena thalamoo qawlan ghayra allathee qeela lahum faanzalna AAala allatheena thalamoo rijzan mina alssamai bima kanoo yafsuqoona
But the wrongdoers changed the word from that which had been told to them for another (word), so We sent upon the wrong-doers a pestilence from the heaven, because they strayed (they fell into the “Fısq”, that is to say, they went out of the Way of Allah).

2/Al-Baqara-60: Waithi istasqa moosa liqawmihi faqulna idrib biAAasaka alhajara fainfajarat minhu ithnata AAashrata AAaynan qad AAalima kullu onasin mashrabahum kuloo waishraboo min rizqi Allahi wala taAAthaw fee alardi mufsideena
And when Moses asked for water for his people, We said to him: Strike the rock with your staff! Then gushed forth from it twelve springs; each tribe knew its drinking-place: Eat and drink of that which Allah has provided and do not act corruptly in the earth making mischief.

2/Al-Baqara-61: Waith qultum ya moosa lan nasbira AAala taAAamin wahidin faodAAu lana rabbaka yukhrij lana mimma tunbitu alardu min baqliha waqiththaiha wafoomiha waAAadasiha wabasaliha qala atastabdiloona allathee huwa adna biallathee huwa khayrun ihbitoo misran fainna lakum ma saaltum waduribat AAalayhimu alththillatu waalmaskanatu wabaoo bighadabin mina Allahi thalika biannahum kanoo yakfuroona biayati Allahi wayaqtuloona alnnabiyyeena bighayri alhaqqi thalika bima AAasaw wakanoo yaAAtadoona
And (remember) when you said: O Moses! We cannot endure one kind of food. So invoke your Lord for us to bring forth for us of what the earth grows, of its herbs and its cucumbers and its garlic, its lentils and its onions. He said: Will you exchange that which is better (higher) for that which is worse (lower)? Go down to the settled country (Mısır, Egypt) and you shall find what you want (ask for). And abasement and humiliation were brought down (stamped) upon them, and they incurred the Wrath of Allah, because they disbelieved in the Signs (Verses) of Allah and killed the Prophets wrongfully; this was so because they disobeyed and exceeded the limits.

2/Al-Baqara-62: Inna allatheena amanoo waallatheena hadoo waalnnasara waalssabieena man amana biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri waAAamila salihan falahum ajruhum AAinda rabbihim wala khawfun AAalayhim wala hum yahzanoona
Surely those who believe (who are “âmenû”), and those who are Jews and the Christians and the Sabians, whoever (of those ones) believes in Allah and the Last Day and does improving deeds (purifies his soul’s heart), they shall have their Reward with their Lord, and there is no fear for them, nor shall they grieve.

2/Al-Baqara-63: Waith akhathna meethaqakum warafaAAna fawqakumu alttoora khuthoo ma ataynakum biquwwatin waothkuroo ma feehi laAAallakum tattaqoona
And (remember) when We took your covenant and We raised above you the Mount (saying): Hold fast to that which We have given you, and remember that which is in it so that you may become the pious (Al-Muttaqûn, those who want to reach Allah while they are living).

2/Al-Baqara-64: Thumma tawallaytum min baAAdi thalika falawla fadlu Allahi AAalaykum warahmatuhu lakuntum mina alkhasireena
Then after that (after I took your covenant) you turned back (away). Had it not been for the (lights of) virtue (fazl) and mercy (rahmet) upon you, indeed you would have been among the losers.

2/Al-Baqara-65: Walaqad AAalimtumu allatheena iAAtadaw minkum fee alssabti faqulna lahum koonoo qiradatan khasieena
And indeed you knew those among you who transgressed in the matter of the Sabbath (the prohibition of the fishing on Saturday), so We said to them: Be detested apes! (Be you monkeys, despised and rejected).

2/Al-Baqara-66: FajaAAalnaha nakalan lima bayna yadayha wama khalfaha wamawAAithatan lilmuttaqeena
So We made (this punishment) an example to their own and to succeding generations and an admonition to those who are the pious [the owners of takvâ (piety)].

2/Al-Baqara-67: Waith qala moosa liqawmihi inna Allaha yamurukum an tathbahoo baqaratan qaloo atattakhithuna huzuwan qala aAAoothu biAllahi an akoona mina aljahileena
And (remember) when Moses (Mûsâ) said to his people: Verily, Allah commands you that you should sacrifice a cow. They said: Are you making fun of us? He said: I take Allah’s Refuge from being one of the Ignorant (the foolish).

2/Al-Baqara-68: Qaloo odAAu lana rabbaka yubayyin lana ma hiya qala innahu yaqoolu innaha baqaratun la faridun wala bikrun AAawanun bayna thalika faifAAaloo ma tumaroona
They said: Call on your Lord for us that He may make plain to us what it is! He (Moses) said: He says: Verily, it is a cow neither too old nor too young, of middle age between that (and this); do therefore what you are commanded.

2/Al-Baqara-69: Qaloo odAAu lana rabbaka yubayyin lana ma lawnuha qala innahu yaqoolu innaha baqaratun safrao faqiAAun lawnuha tasurru alnnathireena
They said: Call on your Lord for our sake to make it plain to us what her color is, He (Moses) said: He (Allah) says: It is a yellow cow, bright in its color, giving delight to the beholders.

2/Al-Baqara-70: Qaloo odAAu lana rabbaka yubayyin lana ma hiya inna albaqara tashabaha AAalayna wainna in shaa Allahu lamuhtadoona
They said: Call upon your Lord for us to make plain to us what it is. Verily, to us all cows are alike. And surely, if Allah wills, we shall be rightly guided (to the cow that is to be sacrificed).

2/Al-Baqara-71: Qala innahu yaqoolu innaha baqaratun la thaloolun tutheeru alarda wala tasqee alhartha musallamatun la shiyata feeha qaloo alana jita bialhaqqi fathabahooha wama kadoo yafAAaloona
He (Moses) said: He says: It is a cow neither trained to till the soil nor water the fields, sound, having no other color except bright yellow. They said: Now you have brought the truth; so they sacrificed her though they were near to not doing it.

2/Al-Baqara-72: Waith qataltum nafsan faiddaratum feeha waAllahu mukhrijun ma kuntum taktumoona
And (remember) when you killed a man and began to accuse one another (by concealing his murderer). But Allah brought forth what you concealed.

2/Al-Baqara-73: Faqulna idriboohu bibaAAdiha kathalika yuhyee Allahu almawta wayureekum ayatihi laAAallakum taAAqiloona
So We said: Strike him (the dead man) with a piece of it (the cow) (when he was struck with it, the dead man is brought to life). Thus Allah brings the dead to life and shows you His Signs (proofs of His Omnipotence) so that you may understand.

2/Al-Baqara-74: Thumma qasat quloobukum min baAAdi thalika fahiya kaalhijarati aw ashaddu qaswatan wainna mina alhijarati lama yatafajjaru minhu alanharu wainna minha lama yashshaqqaqu fayakhruju minhu almao wainna minha lama yahbitu min khashyati Allahi wama Allahu bighafilin AAamma taAAmaloona
Then, after that, your hearts were hardened (and gloomy) and became as stones or even worse in hardness. And indeed there are stones out of which rivers gush forth, and indeed, there are of them (stones) which split asunder so that water flows from them, and indeed there are of them (stones) which fall down for fear of Allah. And Allah is not Unaware of what you do.

2/Al-Baqara-75: AfatatmaAAoona an yuminoo lakum waqad kana fareequn minhum yasmaAAoona kalama Allahi thumma yuharrifoonahu min baAAdi ma AAaqaloohu wahum yaAAlamoona
Do you (faithful believers!) covet that they will believe in you, and a party from among them indeed used to hear the Word of Allah (the Torah), then they used to alter it knowingly after they understood it?

2/Al-Baqara-76: Waitha laqoo allatheena amanoo qaloo amanna waitha khala baAAduhum ila baAAdin qaloo atuhaddithoonahum bima fataha Allahu AAalaykum liyuhajjookum bihi AAinda rabbikum afala taAAqiloona
And when they (Jews) meet those who are “âmenû” (who wish to reach Allah before death), they say: We believe (we became âmenû), but when they are alone one with another, they say: Do you talk to them of what Allah has disclosed to you (about the description and the qualities of Prophet Muhammad) that they may argue with you about it before your Lord? Have you (Jews) then no understanding (sense)?

2/Al-Baqara-77: Awala yaAAlamoona anna Allaha yaAAlamu ma yusirroona wama yuAAlinoona
Do they not know that Allah knows what they keep secret and what they make known?

2/Al-Baqara-78: Waminhum ommiyyoona la yaAAlamoona alkitaba illa amaniyya wain hum illa yathunnoona
And some of them are illiterates. They do not know the Book (of Allah) but only vain desires (existing in the books written by the men), and they do but conjecture (guess).

2/Al-Baqara-79: Fawaylun lillatheena yaktuboona alkitaba biaydeehim thumma yaqooloona hatha min AAindi Allahi liyashtaroo bihi thamanan qaleelan fawaylun lahum mimma katabat aydeehim wawaylun lahum mimma yaksiboona
Then woe to those who write the book with their own hands and then say: This is from Allah to purchase it a little price! Therefore woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for that they earn thereby.

2/Al-Baqara-80: Waqaloo lan tamassana alnnaru illa ayyaman maAAdoodatan qul attakhathtum AAinda Allahi AAahdan falan yukhlifa Allahu AAahdahu am taqooloona AAala Allahi ma la taAAlamoona
And they say: The Fire (on the Day of Resurrection) shall not touch us but for a few numbered days. (We will burn as much as our sins, then we will leave it in order to go into Paradise). Say: Have you taken a covenant from Allah, so that Allah will not break His Covenant? Or do you speak against Allah what you do not know?

2/Al-Baqara-81: Bala man kasaba sayyiatan waahatat bihi khateeatuhu faolaika ashabu alnnari hum feeha khalidoona
No, (it is not as you guess it) whoever earns evil and his sins have surrounded him, they are the inmates of the Fire (i.e. Hell); they will dwell in it forever.

2/Al-Baqara-82: Waallatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati olaika ashabu aljannati hum feeha khalidoona
And those who believe (who are “âmenû”) and do improving deeds (that purify and refine their souls’ hearts), they are the dwellers of Paradise, they will dwell therein forever.

2/Al-Baqara-83: Waith akhathna meethaqa banee israeela la taAAbudoona illa Allaha wabialwalidayni ihsanan wathee alqurba waalyatama waalmasakeeni waqooloo lilnnasi husnan waaqeemoo alssalata waatoo alzzakata thumma tawallaytum illa qaleelan minkum waantum muAAridoona
And (remember) when We took a covenant from the Children of Israel, (saying): Serve (become servants to) Allah (Alone) and show kindness (do good) to (your) parents and to the near of kin and to the orphans and the needy (who are incapable of earning their livelihood) and speak good to people and establish the Prayer and pay the Zakât (the poor-rate). Then you turned back except a few of you and you are (anyway) backsliders.

2/Al-Baqara-84: Waith akhathna meethaqakum la tasfikoona dimaakum wala tukhrijoona anfusakum min diyarikum thumma aqrartum waantum tashhadoona
And (remember) when We took your covenant (saying): You shall not shed your blood and you shall not expel one another from your homes. And you ratified (it) and (to this) you bore witness.

2/Al-Baqara-85: Thumma antum haolai taqtuloona anfusakum watukhrijoona fareeqan minkum min diyarihim tathaharoona AAalayhim bialithmi waalAAudwani wain yatookum osara tufadoohum wahuwa muharramun AAalaykum ikhrajuhum afatuminoona bibaAAdi alkitabi watakfuroona bibaAAdin fama jazao man yafAAalu thalika minkum illa khizyun fee alhayati alddunya wayawma alqiyamati yuraddoona ila ashaddi alAAathabi wama Allahu bighafilin AAamma taAAmaloona
After this, it is you who kill one anofher and drive out a party of you from their homes, assist (their enemies) against them in sin and transgression. And if they come to you as captives (you do not nevertheless let them remain in their homes), you ransom them, although their expulsion was unlawful for you. Do you then believe in a part of the Book and disbelieve in the other? Then what is the reward of those who do so among you, except disgrace in the life of this world, and on the Day of Resurrection they shall be exposed to the most grievous torment. And Allah is not at all Unaware (Heedless) of what you do.

2/Al-Baqara-86: Olaika allatheena ishtarawoo alhayata alddunya bialakhirati fala yukhaffafu AAanhumu alAAathabu wala hum yunsaroona
Those are they who have bought the life of this world at the price of the Hereafter. Their torment shall not be lightened nor shall they be helped.

2/Al-Baqara-87: Walaqad atayna moosa alkitaba waqaffayna min baAAdihi bialrrusuli waatayna AAeesa ibna maryama albayyinati waayyadnahu biroohi alqudusi afakullama jaakum rasoolun bima la tahwa anfusukumu istakbartum fafareeqan kaththabtum wafareeqan taqtuloona
And most certainly We gave Moses the Book and followed him up with a succession of Messengers. And We gave Jesus (Îsâ), the son of Mary (Maryam), clear arguments and strengthened (supported) him with the Holy Spirit (the Angel Gabriel). What! Whenever then a Messenger came to you with that which your souls did not desire, you were insolent (arrogant) so you called some liars and some you killed.

2/Al-Baqara-88: Waqaloo quloobuna ghulfun bal laAAanahumu Allahu bikufrihim faqaleelan ma yuminoona
And they say: Our hearts are wrapped. Nay, Allah has cursed them for their disbelief. So little is that which they believe.

2/Al-Baqara-89: Walamma jaahum kitabun min AAindi Allahi musaddiqun lima maAAahum wakanoo min qablu yastaftihoona AAala allatheena kafaroo falamma jaahum ma AAarafoo kafaroo bihi falaAAnatu Allahi AAala alkafireena
And when there came to them a Book (this Qur’ân) from Allah confirming what is with them (the Torah) (they did not accept it), although aforetime they used to pray for conquest and victory over those who disbelieved (for the sake of the Prophet mentioned in the Torah when they were constrained). When there came to them that which they had recognised (the Prophet whose description and qualites are made known in the Torah), they disbelieved in it (him); so Allah’s curse is on the disbelievers.

2/Al-Baqara-90: Bisama ishtaraw bihi anfusahum an yakfuroo bima anzala Allahu baghyan an yunazzila Allahu min fadlihi AAala man yashao min AAibadihi fabaoo bighadabin AAala ghadabin walilkafireena AAathabun muheenun
How evil is that for which they have sold their souls (their ownselves)- that they should disbelieve in that which Allah has sent down, out of envy that Allah should send down of His (light of) Virtue (fazl) on whomsoever of His servants He wills (pleases). So they have drawn on themselves wrath upon wrath. And for the disbelievers there is a disgracing torment.

2/Al-Baqara-91: Waitha qeela lahum aminoo bima anzala Allahu qaloo numinu bima onzila AAalayna wayakfuroona bima waraahu wahuwa alhaqqu musaddiqan lima maAAahum qul falima taqtuloona anbiyaa Allahi min qablu in kuntum mumineena
And when it is said to them: Believe in what Allah has sent down, they say: We believe in what was sent down to us. And they disbelieved in that which came after it, while it is the truth confirming what is with them. Say: Why then have you killed the Prophets of Allah aforetime, if you indeed have been believers?

2/Al-Baqara-92: Walaqad jaakum moosa bialbayyinati thumma ittakhathtumu alAAijla min baAAdihi waantum thalimoona
And most certainly Moses came to you with clear arguments, then you took the calf (for a god) in his absence and you were wrong-doers (unjust, polytheists).

2/Al-Baqara-93: Waith akhathna meethaqakum warafaAAna fawqakumu alttoora khuthoo ma ataynakum biquwwatin waismaAAoo qaloo samiAAna waAAasayna waoshriboo fee quloobihimu alAAijla bikufrihim qul bisama yamurukum bihi eemanukum in kuntum mumineena
And (remember) when We took your covenant and We raised above you the Mount (saying): Hold firmly to what We have given you (the Torah) and hear (My Orders). They said: We have heard and disobeyed. For their disbelief, they were made to drink into (imbibe, absorb) their hearts (the love of) the Calf. Say: Evil is that which your belief enjoins you to, if you are believers.

2/Al-Baqara-94: Qul in kanat lakumu alddaru alakhiratu AAinda Allahi khalisatan min dooni alnnasi fatamannawoo almawta in kuntum sadiqeena
Say: If the abode of the Hereafter with Allah is indeed for you specially (exclusively) and not for others, of mankind, them long for death if you are truthful.

2/Al-Baqara-95: Walan yatamannawhu abadan bima qaddamat aydeehim waAllahu AAaleemun bialththalimeena
And they will never long for it because of what their hands have sent before them (i.e. what they have done). And Allah is All-Aware of the wrong-doers (unjust).

2/Al-Baqara-96: Walatajidannahum ahrasa alnnasi AAala hayatin wamina allatheena ashrakoo yawaddu ahaduhum law yuAAammaru alfa sanatin wama huwa bimuzahzihihi mina alAAathabi an yuAAammara waAllahu baseerun bima yaAAmaloona
And verily, you will find them the greediest of mankind for life. Even everyone of those associators (those who ascribe partners to Allah) loves that he should be granted a life of a thousand years, and his being granted a long life will in no way remove him further off from the torment (punishment). And Allah is All-Seer of all that they do.

2/Al-Baqara-97: Qul man kana AAaduwwan lijibreela fainnahu nazzalahu AAala qalbika biithni Allahi musaddiqan lima bayna yadayhi wahudan wabushra lilmumineena
Say: Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel (Jibrael) (let him say then that) indeed he has brought it(this Qur’ân) down to your heart by Allah’s Permission, confirming what came before it (the previous books). It (the Qur’ân) is a Guidance and glad tidings for the believers.

2/Al-Baqara-98: Man kana AAaduwwan lillahi wamalaikatihi warusulihi wajibreela wameekala fainna Allaha AAaduwwun lilkafireena
Whoever is an enemy to Allah, His Angels, His Messengers and Gabriel (Jibrael) and Michael (Mikael), then verily, Allah is an enemy to the disbelievers.

2/Al-Baqara-99: Walaqad anzalna ilayka ayatin bayyinatin wama yakfuru biha illa alfasiqoona
We have sent down to you clear signs, and non but “Fâsiqûn” (those who are not in the Way of Allah or who have gone out of it) disbelieve in them (deny them).

2/Al-Baqara-100: Awakullama AAahadoo AAahdan nabathahu fareequn minhum bal aktharuhum la yuminoona
Is it not so that whenever they make a covenant, a party of them cast it aside, do they not? (yes, they do it). Nay! Most of them do not believe.

2/Al-Baqara-101: Walamma jaahum rasoolun min AAindi Allahi musaddiqun lima maAAahum nabatha fareequn mina allatheena ootoo alkitaba kitaba Allahi waraa thuhoorihim kaannahum la yaAAlamoona
And whenever a Messenger came to them from Allah, confirming what was with them, a party of those who were given the Book (the Scripture) threw away the Book of Allah behind their backs as if they did not know.

2/Al-Baqara-102: WaittabaAAoo ma tatloo alshshayateenu AAala mulki sulaymana wama kafara sulaymanu walakinna alshshayateena kafaroo yuAAallimoona alnnasa alssihra wama onzila AAala almalakayni bibabila haroota wamaroota wama yuAAallimani min ahadin hatta yaqoola innama nahnu fitnatun fala takfur fayataAAallamoona minhuma ma yufarriqoona bihi bayna almari wazawjihi wama hum bidarreena bihi min ahadin illa biithni Allahi wayataAAallamoona ma yadurruhum wala yanfaAAuhum walaqad AAalimoo lamani ishtarahu ma lahu fee alakhirati min khalaqin walabisa ma sharaw bihi anfusahum law kanoo yaAAlamoona
They followed what the devils (satans) had (falsely) related about the kingdom of Solomon. Yet Solomon (Sulaimân) did not disbelieve (He did not practice sorcery and he did not so become a disbeliever), but the devils (satans) disbelieved teaching men magic, and that which was sent down to Hârût and Mârût, the two angels at Babylon. Yet these two (angels) taught (this) no man until they had said: Surely we are only a trial (for you), therefore, do not be a disbeliever (by learning this magic from us). And from these two, people learn that by which they cause separation between man and his wife, but they could not thus harm anyone except by Allah’s Leave. And they learn that which harms them and does not profit them. And surely they learnt that he who bought it (the magic and learnings concerning it) would have no share in the Hereafter; and evil was the price for which they sold their souls; had they but known this.

2/Al-Baqara-103: Walaw annahum amanoo waittaqaw lamathoobatun min AAindi Allahi khayrun law kanoo yaAAlamoona
And if they had believed (had become âmenû to Allah, had wished to reach Allah before dying) and had become pious [the owners of piety (Takvâ)] a reward (to be granted) from Allah would have been better, if they had but known!

2/Al-Baqara-104: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la taqooloo raAAina waqooloo onthurna waismaAAoo walilkafireena AAathabun aleemun
O you who believe! Do not say Raina: Tend us, look after us! But say Unzurna: Deal with us, take care of us, make us understand. And listen (to the Decree of Allah). And for the disbelievers there is a painful torment.

2/Al-Baqara-105: Ma yawaddu allatheena kafaroo min ahli alkitabi wala almushrikeena an yunazzala AAalaykum min khayrin min rabbikum waAllahu yakhtassu birahmatihi man yashao waAllahu thoo alfadli alAAatheemi
Neither the disbelievers among the people of the Book nor the associators (idolaters) like that there should be sent down unto you any good from your Lord. But Allah assigns His Mercy to whom He wills. And Allah is the Owner of Great Virtue (Mighty Grace).

2/Al-Baqara-106: Ma nansakh min ayatin aw nunsiha nati bikhayrin minha aw mithliha alam taAAlam anna Allaha AAala kulli shayin qadeerun
Whatever (from) a Verse do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, We bring a better one or similar to it. Do you not know that Allah has power over all things?

2/Al-Baqara-107: Alam taAAlam anna Allaha lahu mulku alssamawati waalardi wama lakum min dooni Allahi min waliyyin wala naseerin
Do you not know that it is to Allah that the sovereignty (dominion, kingdom) of the heavens and the earth belongs, and that there is for you apart from Allah no guardian (Wali, protector) or helper?

2/Al-Baqara-108: Am tureedoona an tasaloo rasoolakum kama suila moosa min qablu waman yatabaddali alkufra bialeemani faqad dalla sawaa alssabeeli
Or would you then question your Prophet as Moses was once questioned? He who changes belief for disbelief surely strays from the right direction.

2/Al-Baqara-109: Wadda katheerun min ahli alkitabi law yaruddoonakum min baAAdi eemanikum kuffaran hasadan min AAindi anfusihim min baAAdi ma tabayyana lahumu alhaqqu faoAAfoo waisfahoo hatta yatiya Allahu biamrihi inna Allaha AAala kulli shayin qadeerun
Many of the People of the Book wish that they could turn you back into unbelievers after your faith, out of envy from themselves, (even) after the truth has become manifest to them; but pardon and be indulgent until Allah makes known (in this matter) His Will (His Decree). Surely Allah has power over all things.

2/Al-Baqara-110: Waaqeemoo alssalata waatoo alzzakata wama tuqaddimoo lianfusikum min khayrin tajidoohu AAinda Allahi inna Allaha bima taAAmaloona baseerun
And keep up (establish, perform) the Prayer and give Zakât (the poor-rate) and whatever good you send before for yourselves, you shall find it with Allah. Certainly, Allah is All-Seer of what you do.

2/Al-Baqara-111: Waqaloo lan yadkhula aljannata illa man kana hoodan aw nasara tilka amaniyyuhum qul hatoo burhanakum in kuntum sadiqeena
And they say: None shall enter the Garden (Paradise) except he who is a Jew or a Christian. These are their vain desires. Say: Bring your indisputable argument (evidence) if you are truthful (in your claim).

2/Al-Baqara-112: Bala man aslama wajhahu lillahi wahuwa muhsinun falahu ajruhu AAinda rabbihi wala khawfun AAalayhim wala hum yahzanoona
Yes! But whoever submits his face (his physical body) to Allah-and he is a good-doer-(Muhsin), his reward is now with his Lord and there is no fear for him nor shall he grieve.

2/Al-Baqara-113: Waqalati alyahoodu laysati alnnasara AAala shayin waqalati alnnasara laysati alyahoodu AAala shayin wahum yatloona alkitaba kathalika qala allatheena la yaAAlamoona mithla qawlihim faAllahu yahkumu baynahum yawma alqiyamati feema kanoo feehi yakhtalifoona
The Jews said that the Christians are on nothing (on the right religion); and the Christians said that the Jews are on nothing (on the right religion); although both read (recite) the Book. Just like them, those who have no knowledge (in this matter) (choosing the way of imitating) said things similar to what they said; so Allah shall judge between them on the Day of Resurrection in what they have been differing.

2/Al-Baqara-114: Waman athlamu mimman manaAAa masajida Allahi an yuthkara feeha ismuhu wasaAAa fee kharabiha olaika ma kana lahum an yadkhulooha illa khaifeena lahum fee alddunya khizyun walahum fee alakhirati AAathabun AAatheemun
And who is more unjust than he who prevents (men) from the mosques (masjids) of Allah, that His Name should be remembered in them, and strives to ruin (destroy) them? (As for these) it was not proper for them that they should have entered them except in fear, for them there is a disgrace in this world, and for them there is a great torment (the greatest of the torment) in the Hereafter.

2/Al-Baqara-115: Walillahi almashriqu waalmaghribu faaynama tuwalloo fathamma wajhu Allahi inna Allaha wasiAAun AAaleemun
And Allah’s (for Allah) is the East and the West, therefore wherever you turn, the Face (Essence) of Allah is there. Most certainly Allah is All-Embracing, All-Knowing.

2/Al-Baqara-116: Waqaloo itakhatha Allahu waladan subhanahu bal lahu ma fee alssamawati waalardi kullun lahu qanitoona
And they say: Allah has taken (to Himself) a son. Glory be to Him; rather, whatever is in the heavens and the earth is His; all are obedient to Him.

2/Al-Baqara-117: BadeeAAu alssamawati waalardi waitha qada amran fainnama yaqoolu lahu kun fayakoonu
Wonderful Originator of the heavens and the earth, and when He decrees a thing, He merely says to it: Be! And it is.

2/Al-Baqara-118: Waqala allatheena la yaAAlamoona lawla yukallimuna Allahu aw tateena ayatun kathalika qala allatheena min qablihim mithla qawlihim tashabahat quloobuhum qad bayyanna alayati liqawmin yooqinoona
And those who have no knowledge (of the Reality) say: Why does Allah not speak to us or a sign come to us? Even thus said those before them, the like of what they say; their hearts are all alike. We have indeed made plain the Signs for a people who believe with certainty.

2/Al-Baqara-119: Inna arsalnaka bialhaqqi basheeran wanatheeran wala tusalu Aaan ashabi aljaheemi
Verily, We have sent you with the truth as a bearer of glad tidings and a warner. And you shall not be questioned about the people of the Flame (you are not responsible for those who will go into the Hell).

2/Al-Baqara-120: Walan tarda AAanka alyahoodu wala alnnasara hatta tattabiAAa millatahum qul inna huda Allahi huwa alhuda walaini ittabaAAta ahwaahum baAAda allathee jaaka mina alAAilmi ma laka mina Allahi min waliyyin wala naseerin
And the Jews will not be pleased with you, nor the Christians until you follow (depend on) their religion. Say: Verily, reaching Allah (while one is alive) [the fact that Allah makes a man reach Himself], that is the (true) Guidance. And if you follow (depend on) their (vain) desires after the knowledge that has come to you, for you there shall be from Allah no protecting friend (Wali) nor any helper.

2/Al-Baqara-121: Allatheena ataynahumu alkitaba yatloonahu haqqa tilawatihi olaika yuminoona bihi waman yakfur bihi faolaika humu alkhasiroona
Those to whom We gave the Book (the Prophets and the Messengers) read (and explain) it as it ought to be read (explained) [with a real reading and explaining]. They are the ones who believe in it. And whoso disbelieve in it (by denying it), those are they who are the losers.

2/Al-Baqara-122: Ya banee israeela othkuroo niAAmatiya allatee anAAamtu AAalaykum waannee faddaltukum AAala alAAalameena
O Children of Israel! Remember My Blessing which I bestowed upon you and that I made you excel (once) the Worlds (‘Âlamîn, mankind and jinn...).

2/Al-Baqara-123: Waittaqoo yawman la tajzee nafsun AAan nafsin shayan wala yuqbalu minha AAadlun wala tanfaAAuha shafaAAatun wala hum yunsaroona
And guard yourselves against a Day when no soul will avail another, nor shall compensation be accepted from him, nor shall intercession be of use to him, nor shall they be helped.

2/Al-Baqara-124: Waithi ibtala ibraheema rabbuhu bikalimatin faatammahunna qala innee jaAAiluka lilnnasi imaman qala wamin thurriyyatee qala la yanalu AAahdee alththalimeena
And (remember) when his Lord tried Abraham with certain words, he fulfilled them. He said: Verily, I am going to make you an Imâm (a Leader) for men. (Abraham) said: And of my offspring. (Allah) said: My covenant (My Mercy of religious leadership) does not extend to the wrongdoers (of your offspring).

2/Al-Baqara-125: Waith jaAAalna albayta mathabatan lilnnasi waamnan waittakhithoo min maqami ibraheema musallan waAAahidna ila ibraheema waismaAAeela an tahhira baytiya lilttaifeena waalAAakifeena waalrrukkaAAi alssujoodi
And (remember) when We made the House (the Holy Ka’ba at Makka) a place of resort (where one may gain rewards) and a place of safety. Appoint for yourselves a place of prayer on the standing-place (Maqâm) of Abraham (Ibrahîm). And We enjoined Abraham and Ishmael (Ismail) that they should purify My House for those who circumambulate (it) and stay (and meditate in it) and bow and prostrate themselves (there, in prayer).

2/Al-Baqara-126: Waith qala ibraheemu rabbi ijAAal hatha baladan aminan waorzuq ahlahu mina alththamarati man amana minhum biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri qala waman kafara faomattiAAuhu qaleelan thumma adtarruhu ila AAathabi alnnari wabisa almaseeru
And (remember) when Abraham said: My Lord, make this city a place of security and provide its people with fruits, such of them as believe in Allah and the Last Day, He said: As for him who disbelieves, I will grant him enjoyment for a short while, then I will compel him to the torment of the Fire; and it is an evil destination (journey’s end).

2/Al-Baqara-127: Waith yarfaAAu ibraheemu alqawaAAida mina albayti waismaAAeelu rabbana taqabbal minna innaka anta alssameeAAu alAAaleemu
And (remember) when Abraham and (his son) Ishmael were raising the foundations of the House (saying): Our Lord! Accept (this service) from us, Verily, You are the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.

2/Al-Baqara-128: Rabbana waijAAalna muslimayni laka wamin thurriyyatina ommatan muslimatan laka waarina manasikana watub AAalayna innaka anta alttawwabu alrraheemu
Our Lord! Make us both submitters to You and of our offspring a community (nation) which will be submitters to You and show us our ways of devotion (Manâsik= all the ceremonies of pilgrimage) and accept our repentance. You are indeed the oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful [You are the One who accepts repentance, and sends the (light of) mercy].

2/Al-Baqara-129: Rabbana waibAAath feehim rasoolan minhum yatloo AAalayhim ayatika wayuAAallimuhumu alkitaba waalhikmata wayuzakkeehim innaka anta alAAazeezu alhakeemu
Our Lord! And raise up in them a Messenger of their own who shall read (and explain) Your Verses (Signs) and teach them the Book and the Wisdom, and purify them (their souls’ hearts). Verily, You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.

2/Al-Baqara-130: Waman yarghabu AAan millati ibraheema illa man safiha nafsahu walaqadi istafaynahu fee alddunya wainnahu fee alakhirati lamina alssaliheena
And who turns away from (renounce) the Religion (faith) of Abraham except him who befools himself? (who do not know himself). Truly, We chose him in the world, and surely he is in the Hereafter of the improved ones (Sâlihîn).

2/Al-Baqara-131: Ith qala lahu rabbuhu aslim qala aslamtu lirabbi alAAalameena
When his Lord said to him: Submit! He said: I have submitted myself to the Lord of the Worlds.

2/Al-Baqara-132: Wawassa biha ibraheemu baneehi wayaAAqoobu ya baniyya inna Allaha istafa lakumu alddeena fala tamootunna illa waantum muslimoona
And Abraham enjoined the same upon his sons, and so did Jacob (Ya’qûb): O my children, Allah has chosen for you the (true) Religion, then do not die unless you are submitters (Muslimûn= those who have accomplished their four surrenders, i.e. the surrender of the spirit, the physical body, the soul and the free will to Allah).

2/Al-Baqara-133: Am kuntum shuhadaa ith hadara yaAAqooba almawtu ith qala libaneehi ma taAAbudoona min baAAdee qaloo naAAbudu ilahaka wailaha abaika ibraheema waismaAAeela waishaqa ilahan wahidan wanahnu lahu muslimoona
Or were you witnesses when death came to Jacob? He said to his sons: What will you serve after me? They said: We will serve your God and the God of your fathers, Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac (Ishâq), one God only, and to Him we are submitted.

2/Al-Baqara-134: Tilka ommatun qad khalat laha ma kasabat walakum ma kasabtum wala tusaloona AAamma kano yaAAmaloona
That was a nation (a community) who has passed away. They shall have what they earned and you shall have what you earn, and you shall not be questioned about their actions (you are not responsible for what they do).

2/Al-Baqara-135: Waqaloo koonoo hoodan aw nasara tahtadoo qul bal millata ibraheema haneefan wama kana mina almushrikeena
They say: Be Jews or Christians, then you will be guided (so that you may attain to Guidance). Say: Nay, the Religion of Abraham is “Hanîf” (pur monotheist, being submitted to one God only) (because) he was not of the associators (polytheists).

2/Al-Baqara-136: Qooloo amanna biAllahi wama onzila ilayna wama onzila ila ibraheema waismaAAeela waishaqa wayaAAqooba waalasbati wama ootiya moosa waAAeesa wama ootiya alnnabiyyoona min rabbihim la nufarriqu bayna ahadin minhum wanahnu lahu muslimoona
Say: We believe in Allah and that which has been sent down to Abraham, Ishmael and Isaac and the tribes (Al-Asbât= the offspring of the twelve sons of Jacob), and that which has been given to Moses and Jesus, and that which has been riven to the (other) prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them and (anyway) to Him we have submitted.

2/Al-Baqara-137: Fain amanoo bimithli ma amantum bihi faqadi ihtadaw wain tawallaw fainnama hum fee shiqaqin fasayakfeekahumu Allahu wahuwa alssameeAAu alAAaleemu
If then they believe as you believe in Him, they will surely attain to guidance[If then they had believed as you had believed in Him, they would surely have attained to Guidance], and if they turn away, then they are only in opposition (schism). Allah will suffice you against them; and He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.

2/Al-Baqara-138: Sibghata Allahi waman ahsanu mina Allahi sibghatan wanahnu lahu AAabidoona
(Color yourself with) Allah’s Color; and who is better than he who has colored himself with Allah’s Color? And (so) We are His worshippers (We are becoming servants To Him)

2/Al-Baqara-139: Qul atuhajjoonana fee Allahi wahuwa rabbuna warabbukum walana aAAmaluna walakum aAAmalukum wanahnu lahu mukhlisoona
Say: Do you dispute with us about Allah and He is our Lord and your Lord, and for us are our deeds and for you your deeds, and We are for Him the pur ones (Muhlisûn= those who have purified and refined their souls’ hearts).

2/Al-Baqara-140: Am taqooloona inna ibraheema waismaAAeela waishaqa wayaAAqooba waalasbata kanoo hoodan aw nasara qul aantum aAAlamu ami Allahu waman athlamu mimman katama shahadatan AAindahu mina Allahi wama Allahu bighafilin AAamma taAAmaloona
Or do you say that Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Tribes were Jews or Christians? Do you know better, or does Allah? Who is more unjust than he who hides (conceals) the testimony (given) from Allah in His Presence? And Allah is not Unaware (Heedless) of what you do.

2/Al-Baqara-141: Tilka ommatun qad khalat laha ma kasabat walakum ma kasabtum wala tusaloona AAamma kanoo yaAAmaloona
This is a nation (community) that have passed away. For it is what it earned and for you is what you earn and you will not be asked of what they used to do.

2/Al-Baqara-142: Sayaqoolu alssufahao mina alnnasi ma wallahum AAan qiblatihimu allatee kanoo AAalayha qul lillahi almashriqu waalmaghribu yahdee man yashao ila siratin mustaqeemin
The fools among the people will say: What has tumed them from their Qiblah [prayer direction (towards Jerusalem)] on which they were? Say: The East and the West belong only to Allah. He guides whom He wills to the Straight Path [leading (men’s spirits) to Allah].

2/Al-Baqara-143: Wakathalika jaAAalnakum ommatan wasatan litakoonoo shuhadaa AAala alnnasi wayakoona alrrasoolu AAalaykum shaheedan wama jaAAalna alqiblata allatee kunta AAalayha illa linaAAlama man yattabiAAu alrrasoola mimman yanqalibu AAala AAaqibayhi wain kanat lakabeeratan illa AAala allatheena hada Allahu wama kana Allahu liyudeeAAa eemanakum inna Allaha bialnnasi laraoofun raheemun
Thus We have made you a medium (just, balanced, good, superior, virtuous) nation, that you be witnesses over mankind and the Messenger be a witness over you. And We made the Qiblah (prayer direction towards Jerusalem) on which you were, only to (distinguish and) know those who depended on (followed) the Messenger from those who would turn on their heels. And it is surely hard except for those whom Allah caused to attain to guidance (it is not hard for them); and Allah is not going to make your faith to be lost. Truly Allah is Affectionate, the Most Merciful towards mankind.

2/Al-Baqara-144: Qad nara taqalluba wajhika fee alssamai falanuwalliyannaka qiblatan tardaha fawalli wajhaka shatra almasjidi alharami wahaythu ma kuntum fawalloo wujoohakum shatrahu wainna allatheena ootoo alkitaba layaAAlamoona annahu alhaqqu min rabbihim wama Allahu bighafilin AAamma yaAAmaloona
Verily, We have seen the turning of your face towards the heaven (waiting for the Divine Decree). Surely, We shall turn you to a Qiblah (prayer direction) that shall please you; so turn your face in the direction of the Inviolable Sanctuary (Al-Masjid Al-Harâm at Makka), and wherever you may be, turn your faces towards it. Those to whom the Book was given know this to be the truth from their Lord. And Allah is not Unaware of what they do.

2/Al-Baqara-145: Walain atayta allatheena ootoo alkitaba bikulli ayatin ma tabiAAoo qiblataka wama anta bitabiAAin qiblatahum wama baAAduhum bitabiAAin qiblata baAAdin walaini ittabaAAta ahwaahum min baAAdi ma jaaka mina alAAilmi innaka ithan lamina alththalimeena
And even if you were to bring to those who have been given the Book every sign, they would not follow your Qiblah (prayer direction), nor would you follow their Qiblah; nor will they follow each other’s Qiblah. If, after all the knowledge you have been given, you follow their desires, then you would surely become amongst the wrong-doers (unjust, evil-doers).

2/Al-Baqara-146: Allatheena ataynahumu alkitaba yaAArifoonahu kama yaAArifoona abnaahum wainna fareeqan minhum layaktumoona alhaqqa wahum yaAAlamoona
Those to whom We gave the Book recognise him (Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him) as they recognise their sons, and a party of them most surely conceal the truth while they know (it) (knowingly).

2/Al-Baqara-147: Alhaqqu min rabbika fala takoonanna mina almumtareena
The truth is from your Lord, therefore you should not be of the doubters.

2/Al-Baqara-148: Walikullin wijhatun huwa muwalleeha faistabiqoo alkhayrati ayna ma takoonoo yati bikumu Allahu jameeAAan inna Allaha AAala kulli shayin qadeerun
And for every one (for all the nations, communities) there is a direction toward which he turns; so (O Community of Muhammad) vie with one another in good works. Wherever you may be, Allah will bring you together. Truly, Allah is Powerful over all things.

2/Al-Baqara-149: Wamin haythu kharajta fawalli wajhaka shatra almasjidi alharami wainnahu lalhaqqu min rabbika wama Allahu bighafilin AAamma taAAmaloona
So from wheresoever you depart, turn your face towards the Inviolable Sanctuary (Al-Masjıd-Al-Harâm at Makkah), that is indeed the truth from your Lord. And Allah is not Unaware of what you do.

2/Al-Baqara-150: Wamin haythu kharajta fawalli wajhaka shatra almasjidi alharami wahaythu ma kuntum fawalloo wujoohakum shatrahu lialla yakoona lilnnasi AAalaykum hujjatun illa allatheena thalamoo minhum fala takhshawhum waikhshawnee waliotimma niAAmatee AAalaykum walaAAallakum tahtadoona
And from wheresoever you start forth, turn your face towards the Inviolable Sanctuary (the Sacred Mosque); and wherever you are turn your faces towards it, so that men may have no argument against you except those of them that are wrong-doers, so do not fear them and fear Me (fear that My Love upon you will be decreased), that I may complete My Blessings on you and that (so) you may attain to Guidance.

2/Al-Baqara-151: Kama arsalna feekum rasoolan minkum yatloo AAalaykum ayatina wayuzakkeekum wayuAAallimukumu alkitaba waalhikmata wayuAAallimukum ma lam takoonoo taAAlamoona
Similarly (Thus) We have sent among you a Messenger (a Prophet) from among you so that he may read (and explain) to you Our Verses and purify you (your souls’ hearts) and teaches you the Book and the Wisdom and teaches you that which you did not know (beyond the Wisdom).

2/Al-Baqara-152: Faothkuroonee athkurkum waoshkuroo lee wala takfurooni
Therefore remember Me so that I may remember you, and be thankful to Me, and do not be ungrateful to Me (do not be on the disbelief).

2/Al-Baqara-153: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo istaAAeenoo bialssabri waalssalati inna Allaha maAAa alssabireena
O you who believe (who are âmenû, who wish to reach Allah before dying) seek assistance (from Allah) through patience and the (Requierement) Prayer; surely Allah is with the patient (As-Sâbirûn, the owners of Patience).

2/Al-Baqara-154: Wala taqooloo liman yuqtalu fee sabeeli Allahi amwatun bal ahyaon walakin la tashAAuroona
And do not say of those who are killed in the Way of Allah: They are dead. Nay, they are alive, but you do not perceive (their life).

2/Al-Baqara-155: Walanabluwannakum bishayin mina alkhawfi waaljooAAi wanaqsin mina alamwali waalanfusi waalththamarati wabashshiri alssabireena
And We will most certainly try (test) you with somewhat of fear and hunger and loss of property and lives and fruits; and give glad tidings to the patient.

2/Al-Baqara-156: Allatheena itha asabathum museebatun qaloo inna lillahi wainna ilayhi rajiAAoona
Who, when a misfortune befalls them, say: Surely we are for Allah (We are created in order to reach Him and surrender ourselves to Him) and to Him we shall surely return (and we shall surely reach Him before death).

2/Al-Baqara-157: Olaika AAalayhim salawatun min rabbihim warahmatun waolaika humu almuhtadoona
Those (who are certain of returning to Allah in the life of this world) are they on whom are benedictions from their Lord and mercy and it is they who are the guided ones.

2/Al-Baqara-158: Inna alssafa waalmarwata min shaAAairi Allahi faman hajja albayta awi iAAtamara fala junaha AAalayhi an yattawwafa bihima waman tatawwaAAa khayran fainna Allaha shakirun AAaleemun
Verily, As-Safâ and Al- Marwa (two mountains in Makka) are of the Symbols (sacred indications) of Allah. So it is not a sin on him who performs Hajj or ‘Umrah (pilgrimage and visit) of the House to perform the going round (Tawâf) between them both. And whoever does good of his own volition (whereas it is not obligatory for him) truly Allah is Grateful (Responsive to gratitude), All-Knower.

2/Al-Baqara-159: Inna allatheena yaktumoona ma anzalna mina albayyinati waalhuda min baAAdi ma bayyannahu lilnnasi fee alkitabi olaika yalAAanuhumu Allahu wayalAAanuhumu allaAAinoona
Surely those who conceal the clear proofs (evidences) and the Guidance (the spirit’s reaching Allah before death), which We have sent down, after We have made them clear in the Book for them, they are the ones whom Allah will curse and those who curse shall curse them (too).

2/Al-Baqara-160: Illa allatheena taboo waaslahoo wabayyanoo faolaika atoobu AAalayhim waana alttawwabu alrraheemu
Except those who repent and amend [purify and refine their souls (‘hearts)] and make manifest (the truth) (these are not cursed). These, I will accept their repentance. And I am the Oft-Relenting, the Most Merciful.

2/Al-Baqara-161: Inna allatheena kafaroo wamatoo wahum kuffarun olaika AAalayhim laAAnatu Allahi waalmalaikati waalnnasi ajmaAAeena
As for those who disbelieve (wrap and hide the spirit’s reaching Allah before death, that is, the Guidance) and die while they are disbelievers, these it is on whom the Curse of Allah and the Angels and men all.

2/Al-Baqara-162: Khalideena feeha la yukhaffafu AAanhumu alAAathabu wala hum yuntharoona
They will abide in it (under the curse), their torment will neither be lightened nor will they be reprieved. (they will not be looked after).

2/Al-Baqara-163: Wailahukum ilahun wahidun la ilaha illa huwa alrrahmanu alrraheemu
And your God is one God! There is no god but He. He is the All-Merciful, the Most Merciful.

2/Al-Baqara-164: Inna fee khalqi alssamawati waalardi waikhtilafi allayli waalnnahari waalfulki allatee tajree fee albahri bima yanfaAAu alnnasa wama anzala Allahu mina alssamai min main faahya bihi alarda baAAda mawtiha wabaththa feeha min kulli dabbatin watasreefi alrriyahi waalssahabi almusakhkhari bayna alssamai waalardi laayatin liqawmin yaAAqiloona
Most surely in the creation of the heavens and the earth and in the alternation of the night and the day and the ships which sail through the sea with that which profits men and the water (rain) which Allah sends down from the sky, then gives life with it to the earth after its death and scatters in it all kinds of moving creatures and in the veering of the winds and the clouds made subservient between the sky and the eart, there are Signs for a people who exercise mind.

2/Al-Baqara-165: Wamina alnnasi man yattakhithu min dooni Allahi andadan yuhibboonahum kahubbi Allahi waallatheena amanoo ashaddu hubban lillahi walaw yara allatheena thalamoo ith yarawna alAAathaba anna alquwwata lillahi jameeAAan waanna Allaha shadeedu alAAathabi
And of the men there are some who set up equals (idols, partners) with Allah. They love them (what they take for partners, associates) as they love Allah. (Whereas) those who believe (who are âmenû) are stronger in love for Allah. If only those who are unjust had seen, when they see the torment, that the Power is wholly Allah’s and that Allah is Severe in torment (punishment).

2/Al-Baqara-166: Ith tabarraa allatheena ittubiAAoo mina allatheena ittabaAAoo waraawoo alAAathaba wataqattaAAat bihimu alasbabu
When those who were followed (depended on) declare themselves innocent of those who follow (depend on them) and they see the torment, then all their relations are cut asunder.

2/Al-Baqara-167: Waqala allatheena ittabaAAoo law anna lana karratan fanatabarraa minhum kama tabarraoo minna kathalika yureehimu Allahu aAAmalahum hasaratin AAalayhim wama hum bikharijeena mina alnnari
And those who followed (depended on) others besides Allah say: If only there had been for us a return (to the worldly life), we would disown (declare ourselves as innocent from) them as they have disowned us. Thus Allah will show them their deeds as intense regrets for them (Thus Allah will show them that their deeds are lost) And they will never get out of the Fire.

2/Al-Baqara-168: Ya ayyuha alnnasu kuloo mimma fee alardi halalan tayyiban wala tattabiAAoo khutuwati alshshaytani innahu lakum AAaduwwun mubeenun
O men! Eat of that which is lawful and clean in the earth, and do not follow the footsteps of the Shaitan (Satan) Verily, he is to you an open enemy.

2/Al-Baqara-169: Innama yamurukum bialssooi waalfahshai waan taqooloo AAala Allahi ma la taAAlamoona
He commands you only what is evil and indecency (vileness, “fahsha”), and that you should say against (about) Allah what you do not know.

2/Al-Baqara-170: Waitha qeela lahumu ittabiAAoo ma anzala Allahu qaloo bal nattabiAAu ma alfayna AAalayhi abaana awalaw kana abaohum la yaAAqiloona shayan wala yahtadoona
And when it is said to them: Follow what Allah has sent down, they said: Nay! We follow what (the way) we found our fathers upon. What! (Would they do that!) even if their fathers did not exercise mind on nothing, nor did they attain to Guidance?

2/Al-Baqara-171: Wamathalu allatheena kafaroo kamathali allathee yanAAiqu bima la yasmaAAu illa duAAaan wanidaan summun bukmun AAumyun fahum la yaAAqiloona
And the parable of those who disbelieve is as the parable of one who calls out to that which hears no more then a call and a cry; (they are) deaf, dumb and blind. So they do not exercise mind (understand).

2/Al-Baqara-172: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo kuloo min tayyibati ma razaqnakum waoshkuroo lillahi in kuntum iyyahu taAAbudoona
O you who believe (who are âmenû)! Eat of the lawful and clean things that We have provided you with, and be grateful to Allah, if it is indeed He Whom you serve (to Whom you became servants).

2/Al-Baqara-173: Innama harrama AAalaykumu almaytata waalddama walahma alkhinzeeri wama ohilla bihi lighayri Allahi famani idturra ghayra baghin wala AAadin fala ithma AAalayhi inna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun
He has only forbidden you what dies of itself (carrion) and blood and the flesh of swine, and that which is slaughtered as a sacrifice for others than Allah. But if one is forced by necessity without wilful disobedience nor transgressing due limits, then there is no sin on him. Truly, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

2/Al-Baqara-174: Inna allatheena yaktumoona ma anzala Allahu mina alkitabi wayashtaroona bihi thamanan qaleelan olaika ma yakuloona fee butoonihim illa alnnara wala yukallimuhumu Allahu yawma alqiyamati wala yuzakkeehim walahum AAathabun aleemun
Verily, those who conceal what Allah has sent down of the Book, and purchase a small gain with it, they eat into their bellies nothing but fire. Allah will not speak to them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify (exonerate) them. And for them there will be a painful torment.

2/Al-Baqara-175: Olaika allatheena ishtarawoo alddalalata bialhuda waalAAathaba bialmaghfirati fama asbarahum AAala alnnari
Those are they who purchase Misguidance (Dalâlet) at the price of Guidance, and torment at the price of Forgiveness. So how bold (patient) they are (for evil deeds which will push them) to the Fire! (What makes them so patient against the Fire?)

2/Al-Baqara-176: Thalika bianna Allaha nazzala alkitaba bialhaqqi wainna allatheena ikhtalafoo fee alkitabi lafee shiqaqin baAAeedin
this (torment) is because Allah has sent down the Book with the truth. And those who seek differences in the Book are in open schism.

2/Al-Baqara-177: Laysa albirra an tuwalloo wujoohakum qibala almashriqi waalmaghribi walakinna albirra man amana biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri waalmalaikati waalkitabi waalnnabiyyeena waata almala AAala hubbihi thawee alqurba waalyatama waalmasakeena waibna alssabeeli waalssaileena wafee alrriqabi waaqama alssalata waata alzzakata waalmoofoona biAAahdihim itha AAahadoo waalssabireena fee albasai waalddarrai waheena albasi olaika allatheena sadaqoo waolaika humu almuttaqoona
It is not All-Birr (that reflects the true belief, acts that make men worthy of Paradise) that you turn your faces towards the East and the West, but All-Birr is (the quality of) the one who believes in Allah and the Last Day (when one reaches Allah, the day of Guidance, of arriving at Allah) and the angels and the Book and the Prophets; and gives his wealth what he loves (and gives his wealth for the love of Allah; in spite of love for it) to the kinsfolk, to the orphans, and to the needy (to the old persons incapable of working) and to the wayfarer, and to those who ask and to set slaves (captives) free, keeps up the Prayer, and gives the Zakât (the poor-rate) and who fulfil their covenant when they make it (with Allah and the men), and who are patient in extreme poverty and ailment and at the time of fighting (during the battles). Those are they who are truthful (veracious) and those are they who are the pious [the owners of piety (takvâ)].

2/Al-Baqara-178: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo kutiba AAalaykumu alqisasu fee alqatla alhurru bialhurri waalAAabdu bialAAabdi waalontha bialontha faman AAufiya lahu min akheehi shayon faittibaAAun bialmaAAroofi waadaon ilayhi biihsanin thalika takhfeefun min rabbikum warahmatun famani iAAtada baAAda thalika falahu AAathabun aleemun
O you who believe (who are âmenû)! The Law of Retaliation (of Equality in punishment, Al-Qisâs) is prescribed for you in the matter of the murdered: the free for the free and the slave for the slave, and the female for the female. But if any remission is made to anyone by his (aggrieved) brother, then prosecution (for the bloodwit) should be made according to usage, and payment should be made to him in fairness; this is an alleviation from your Lord and a mercy; so whoever exceeds the limit after this, then for thim there is a painful torment.

2/Al-Baqara-179: Walakum fee alqisasi hayatun ya olee alalbabi laAAallakum tattaqoona
And for you there is life in (the law of) retaliation, O ûli’l elbâb! (those who have attained to the continuous repetition of the Name of Allah and thus know the innermost secret treasuries of Allah!), that you may become the pious (Al-Muttaqûn, the owners of the piety).

2/Al-Baqara-180: Kutiba AAalaykum itha hadara ahadakumu almawtu in taraka khayran alwasiyyatu lilwalidayni waalaqrabeena bialmaAAroofi haqqan AAala almuttaqeena
Bequest is prescribed for you when death approaches one of you, if he leaves behind wealth for parents and near relatives, according to Ma’rûf (custom and usage), a duty (to be fulfilled, a right) upon those who became the pious (the owners of piety, “takwâ”).

2/Al-Baqara-181: Faman baddalahu baAAdama samiAAahu fainnama ithmuhu AAala allatheena yubaddiloonahu inna Allaha sameeAAun AAaleemun
Whoever then alters it (the bequest) after he has heard it, the sin of it then is only upon those who alter it; surely, Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower.

2/Al-Baqara-182: Faman khafa min moosin janafan aw ithman faaslaha baynahum fala ithma AAalayhi inna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun
But he who fears from a testator some unjust or sinful clause, and upon this he makes peace between the parties, there shall be no sin on thim. Certainly Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

2/Al-Baqara-183: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo kutiba AAalaykumu alssiyamu kama kutiba AAala allatheena min qablikum laAAallakum tattaqoona
O you who believe (who are âmenû)! Fasting is prescribed for you, as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may become the pious.

2/Al-Baqara-184: Ayyaman maAAdoodatin faman kana minkum mareedan aw AAala safarin faAAiddatun min ayyamin okhara waAAala allatheena yuteeqoonahu fidyatun taAAamu miskeenin faman tatawwaAAa khayran fahuwa khayrun lahu waan tasoomoo khayrun lakum in kuntum taAAlamoona
For a fixed number of days; but if any of you is ill or on a journey, then (he shall fast) a (like) number of other days; and those who are not able to do it (fasting, because of old age or an illness that is not recoverable) may effect a redemption by feeding a poor (for every day); so whosoever does good (increases his fasting or his redemption) it is better for him. And that you fast is better for you if you know.

2/Al-Baqara-185: Shahru ramadana allathee onzila feehi alquranu hudan lilnnasi wabayyinatin mina alhuda waalfurqani faman shahida minkumu alshshahra falyasumhu waman kana mareedan aw AAala safarin faAAiddatun min ayyamin okhara yureedu Allahu bikumu alyusra wala yureedu bikumu alAAusra walitukmiloo alAAiddata walitukabbiroo Allaha AAala ma hadakum walaAAallakum tashkuroona
The month of Ramadan in which the Qur’ân was sent down as a Guidance (a means of reaching Allah) to men and clear proofs of the Guidance and the Distinction (Criterion between right and wrong). Therefore whoever of you is present in (sights) the month, he must fast in it, and whoever is sick or upon a journey, then (he must fast) a (like) number of other days. Allah desires for you ease; and He does not desire for you difficulty, and He (desires) that you should complete the number and that you should magnify Allah for His having guided you and that you may be grateful (thankful).

2/Al-Baqara-186: Waitha saalaka AAibadee AAannee fainnee qareebun ojeebu daAAwata alddaAAi itha daAAani falyastajeeboo lee walyuminoo bee laAAallahum yarshudoona
And when My servants ask you about Me, then surely I am very near (to them). I answer the call of the prayer when he calls upon Me. So let them answer My Call and believe (become âmenû to) in Me so that they may attain to “Irshad” (Immaterial Maturity).

2/Al-Baqara-187: Ohilla lakum laylata alssiyami alrrafathu ila nisaikum hunna libasun lakum waantum libasun lahunna AAalima Allahu annakum kuntum takhtanoona anfusakum fataba AAalaykum waAAafa AAankum faalana bashiroohunna waibtaghoo ma kataba Allahu lakum wakuloo waishraboo hatta yatabayyana lakumu alkhaytu alabyadu mina alkhayti alaswadi mina alfajri thumma atimmoo alssiyama ila allayli wala tubashiroohunna waantum AAakifoona fee almasajidi tilka hudoodu Allahi fala taqrabooha kathalika yubayyinu Allahu ayatihi lilnnasi laAAallahum yattaqoona
It is made lawful for you to go unto your wives (in sexual relations) on the night of the fast(s). They are a garment for you and you are a garment for them. Allah knows that you acted unfaithfully to (betrayed) yourselves (your souls), so He turned to you (accepted your repentance) and pardoned you. Therefore you may now have intercourse with them and seek what Allah has ordained for you. Eat and drink until the white thread becomes distinct from the black thread of the dawn, then complete the fast till nightfall. And do not approach them if you are in I’tikâf (i.e. confining oneself in a mosque for prayers and invocations leaving the worldly activities) in the mosques. These are the limits of Allah, so do not go near them. Thus does Allah make clear His Verses (Signs) for men that they may become the pious.

2/Al-Baqara-188: Wala takuloo amwalakum baynakum bialbatili watudloo biha ila alhukkami litakuloo fareeqan min amwali alnnasi bialithmi waantum taAAlamoona
Do not eat up one another’s property among yourselves by false means (unjustly) nor give bribery to the rulers (judges) so that you may knowingly eat up a part of the property of others sinfully.

2/Al-Baqara-189: Yasaloonaka AAani alahillati qul hiya mawaqeetu lilnnasi waalhajji walaysa albirru bian tatoo albuyoota min thuhooriha walakinna albirra mani ittaqa watoo albuyoota min abwabiha waittaqoo Allaha laAAallakum tuflihoona
They ask you about the crescent moons. Say: These are signs to mark fixed periods of time for mankind and for the pilgrimage. And it is not Al-Birr (righteous deed that makes men worthy of Paradise) that you enter the houses from their backs (as they used to enter them in the period of Ignorance) but Al-Birr is (the quality of the one) who is pious (the owner of piety, “takvâ”) So enter the houses through their proper doors, and become pious that you may be succesful (you may attain to the Bliss in the Hereafter and the Happiness in the worldly life).

2/Al-Baqara-190: Waqatiloo fee sabeeli Allahi allatheena yuqatiloonakum wala taAAtadoo inna Allaha la yuhibbu almuAAtadeena
And fight in the Way of Allah with those who fight with you and do not exceed the limits, surely Allah does not love those who exceed the limits (the transgressors).

2/Al-Baqara-191: Waoqtuloohum haythu thaqiftumoohum waakhrijoohum min haythu akhrajookum waalfitnatu ashaddu mina alqatli wala tuqatiloohum AAinda almasjidi alharami hatta yuqatilookum feehi fain qatalookum faoqtuloohum kathalika jazao alkafireena
Kill them (who fight against you) wherever you find them and drive them out from where they drove you out, and Al-Fitnah (trial, persecution, discord) is worse (severer) than killing, and do not fight with them at the Sacred Mosque (the Inviolable Sanctuary at Makka) until they fight with you in it, but if they do fight you, then kill them. Such is the reward (the punishment) of the disbelievers.

2/Al-Baqara-192: Faini intahaw fainna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun
But if they cease (desist), then Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

2/Al-Baqara-193: Waqatiloohum hatta la takoona fitnatun wayakoona alddeenu lillahi faini intahaw fala AAudwana illa AAala alththalimeena
And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (persecution, tumult) and the Religion should be only for Allah, but if they desist, then there should be no hostility except against the evildoers (unjust, polytheists).

2/Al-Baqara-194: Alshshahru alharamu bialshshahri alharami waalhurumatu qisasun famani iAAtada AAalaykum faiAAtadoo AAalayhi bimithli ma iAAtada AAalaykum waittaqoo Allaha waiAAlamoo anna Allaha maAAa almuttaqeena
The sacred month is for the sacred month and all sacred things are (under the Law of Equality) retaliation (reciprocity). Then whoever transgresses the prohibition against you, you transgress likewise against him. And become pious and know that Allah is surely with the pious (the owners of piety, takwâ).

2/Al-Baqara-195: Waanfiqoo fee sabeeli Allahi wala tulqoo biaydeekum ila alttahlukati waahsinoo inna Allaha yuhibbu almuhsineena
And spend (your property) in the Way of Allah and do not throw yourselves into danger (destruction) and become the best; (do the best), surely Allah loves the good-doers (“Muhsinûn” those who have submitted their physical bodies to Allah by making it become a servant to Allah).

2/Al-Baqara-196: Waatimmoo alhajja waalAAumrata lillahi fain ohsirtum fama istaysara mina alhadyi wala tahliqoo ruoosakum hatta yablugha alhadyu mahillahu faman kana minkum mareedan aw bihi athan min rasihi fafidyatun min siyamin aw sadaqatin aw nusukin faitha amintum faman tamattaAAa bialAAumrati ila alhajji fama istaysara mina alhadyi faman lam yajid fasiyamu thalathati ayyamin fee alhajji wasabAAatin itha rajaAAtum tilka AAasharatun kamilatun thalika liman lam yakun ahluhu hadiree almasjidi alharami waittaqoo Allaha waiAAlamoo anna Allaha shadeedu alAAiqabi
And complete (perform) the pilgrimage (the Hajj) and the visit (‘Umrah) for Allah. But if you are prevented (because of an inevitable hindrance), (send) whatever offering (sacrifice) is easy to obtain and do not shave your heads until the offering reaches the place of sacrifice (its destination); but whoever of you is sick or has an ailment of the head (and for this reason he is obliged to shave his head before arriving at the place of sacrifice), he must pay a compensation (ransom) either by fasting or by almsgiving, or by offering a sacrifice. And if you are in safety, then whosoever combines the visit (‘Umrah) with the pilgrimage (the Hajj) must offer such offering(s) as he can afford; but he who cannot find (any offering) should fast for three days during the pilgrimage and for seven days when he returns (to his home), making ten days in all. This is for him whose family is not present (dwell) in the Sacred Mosque. And become pious (towards Allah). And know that Allah is Severe in punishment.

2/Al-Baqara-197: Alhajju ashhurun maAAloomatun faman farada feehinna alhajja fala rafatha wala fusooqa wala jidala fee alhajji wama tafAAaloo min khayrin yaAAlamhu Allahu watazawwadoo fainna khayra alzzadi alttaqwa waittaqooni ya olee alalbabi
The pilgrimage is (in) the well-known (lunar year) months; so whoever determines the performance of the pilgrimage in them (by putting on the pilgrimage dress), there shall be no intercourse nor veering to sin nor quarreling amongst one another in the pilgrimage; and whatever good you do, Allah knows it; so make provision (for yourselves) (with the improving deeds) for surely the best of the provision is (to be the owner of) the piety. Therefore be pious towards Me, o the owners of the secret divine treasuries because of their continuous repetition of the Name of Allah. (Ûli’l elbâb)!

2/Al-Baqara-198: Laysa AAalaykum junahun an tabtaghoo fadlan min rabbikum faitha afadtum min AAarafatin faothkuroo Allaha AAinda almashAAari alharami waothkuroohu kama hadakum wain kuntum min qablihi lamina alddalleena
It is no sin on you to seek the Bounty [during pilgrimage by trading, (the light of) Virtue] from your Lord, so when you come hastening from “Arafat” with the multitude, remember (repeat the Name of Allah) at the Sacred Monument (Al Mash’ar Al-Harâm) Remember Him as He had guided you (as He has caused you to attain to Guidance), though before that you were certainly of those who were in Misguidance (of the Misguided ones).

2/Al-Baqara-199: Thumma afeedoo min haythu afada alnnasu waistaghfiroo Allaha inna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun
Then hasten on from where the multitude hasten onward, and ask Allah for His Forgiveness. Truly, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

2/Al-Baqara-200: Faitha qadaytum manasikakum faothkuroo Allaha kathikrikum abaakum aw ashadda thikran famina alnnasi man yaqoolu rabbana atina fee alddunya wama lahu fee alakhirati min khalaqin
So when you have performed your sacred rites (concerning the pilgrimage) remember (repeat the Name of) Allah as you remember your forefathers or with a far more remembrance. But of the men, whoever says: Our Lord! Give us in the world, for him there is no share (portion) in the Hereafter.

2/Al-Baqara-201: Waminhum man yaqoolu rabbana atina fee alddunya hasanatan wafee alakhirati hasanatan waqina AAathaba alnnari
And of them, whoever says: Our Lord! Give us what is good (and beautiful) in the world and what is good (and beautiful) in the Hereafter and protect us from the torment of the Fire,...

2/Al-Baqara-202: Olaika lahum naseebun mimma kasaboo waAllahu sareeAAu alhisabi
For them there will be a share out of what (the degrees) they have earned. And Allah is Swift at reckoning.

2/Al-Baqara-203: Waothkuroo Allaha fee ayyamin maAAdoodatin faman taAAajjala fee yawmayni fala ithma AAalayhi waman taakhkhara fala ithma AAalayhi limani ittaqa waittaqoo Allaha waiAAlamoo annakum ilayhi tuhsharoona
And remember (repeat the Name of) Allah (by saying: Allah is the Most Great) during the numbered days; then whosoever hastens off in two days, there is no sin (blame) on him, and whoever remains behind, there is no sin on him, (this is) for him who has takwâ (piety) and have takwâ (piety) towards Allah and know that you shall be gathered unto Him.

2/Al-Baqara-204: Wamina alnnasi man yuAAjibuka qawluhu fee alhayati alddunya wayushhidu Allaha AAala ma fee qalbihi wahuwa aladdu alkhisami
And of the men there is he whose speech may please you in this worldly life, and he calls on Allah to witness as to that which is in his heart, yet he is the most rigid (violent) of adversaries.

2/Al-Baqara-205: Waitha tawalla saAAa fee alardi liyufsida feeha wayuhlika alhartha waalnnasla waAllahu la yuhibbu alfasada
And when he turns back, he strives (runs along) in the earth to make mis- chief in it and to destroy the crops and the progeny and Allah does not love mischief -making.

2/Al-Baqara-206: Waitha qeela lahu ittaqi Allaha akhathathu alAAizzatu bialithmi fahasbuhu jahannamu walabisa almihadu
And when it is said to him: have Takwâ (Piety) towards Allah, pride (of the soul)takes him with sin (carries it off to sin by hindering him) therefore Hell is sufficient for him, and certainly it is an evil resting-place.

2/Al-Baqara-207: Wamina alnnasi man yashree nafsahu ibtighaa mardati Allahi waAllahu raoofun bialAAibadi
And of the men is he who sells himself to seek the Pleasure of Allah. And Allah is Affectionate (full of Kindness) to (His) servants.

2/Al-Baqara-208: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo odkhuloo fee alssilmi kaffatan wala tattabiAAoo khutuwati alshshaytani innahu lakum AAaduwwun mubeenun
O you who believe (became âmenû)! Enter into Submission one and all (enter into the circle of Submission) and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Verily! He is to you an open enemy.

2/Al-Baqara-209: Fain zalaltum min baAAdi ma jaatkumu albayyinatu faiAAlamoo anna Allaha AAazeezun hakeemun
Then you slide back after the clear arguments have come to you, then know that Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.

2/Al-Baqara-210: Hal yanthuroona illa an yatiyahumu Allahu fee thulalin mina alghamami waalmalaikatu waqudiya alamru waila Allahi turjaAAu alomooru
Do they then wait for anything other than that Allah should come to them in the shadows of the clouds and the angels and (so) the matter (order) is finished off (completed)? And (all) matters (orders) are returned to Allah.

2/Al-Baqara-211: Sal banee israeela kam ataynahum min ayatin bayyinatin waman yubaddil niAAmata Allahi min baAAdi ma jaathu fainna Allaha shadeedu alAAiqabi
Ask the Children of Israel how many clear Signs (proofs, miracles) We gave them. And whoever changes (alters) Allah’s Blessing after it has come to him, then surely Allah is Severe in requiting (evil).

2/Al-Baqara-212: Zuyyina lillatheena kafaroo alhayatu alddunya wayaskharoona mina allatheena amanoo waallatheena ittaqaw fawqahum yawma alqiyamati waAllahu yarzuqu man yashao bighayri hisabin
Beautified is the life of this world for those who disbelieve, and they mock at (some part of) those who believe (became âmenû). But those who have takwâ (piety) will be above them on the Day of Resurrection. And Allah gives means of subsistence to whom He wills without measure.

2/Al-Baqara-213: Kana alnnasu ommatan wahidatan fabaAAatha Allahu alnnabiyyeena mubashshireena wamunthireena waanzala maAAahumu alkitaba bialhaqqi liyahkuma bayna alnnasi feema ikhtalafoo feehi wama ikhtalafa feehi illa allatheena ootoohu min baAAdi ma jaathumu albayyinatu baghyan baynahum fahada Allahu allatheena amanoo lima ikhtalafoo feehi mina alhaqqi biithnihi waAllahu yahdee man yashao ila siratin mustaqeemin
Mankind were once one nation (community). And Allah sent (brought to life) the Prophets as bearers of glad tidings and as warners. And with them He sent down the Book with truth to judge between the men in matters wherein they differed. And only those to whom (the Book) was given differed about it after the clear arguments had come to them, revolting among themselves (through hatred, one to another). Then Allah by His Leave guided those who believed (became âmenû) to the truth of that wherein they differed. And Allah guides whom He wills to the Straight Path (leading to Allah).

2/Al-Baqara-214: Am hasibtum an tadkhuloo aljannata walamma yatikum mathalu allatheena khalaw min qablikum massathumu albasao waalddarrao wazulziloo hatta yaqoola alrrasoolu waallatheena amanoo maAAahu mata nasru Allahi ala inna nasra Allahi qareebun
Or do you think that you would enter Paradise unless the state of those who have passed away before you has not come upon you? Distress and affliction befell them and they were shaken violently, so that the Messenger and those who believed (became âmenû) with him said: When (will come) the Help of Allah? Certainly, the Help of Allah is near, is it not?

2/Al-Baqara-215: Yasaloonaka matha yunfiqoona qul ma anfaqtum min khayrin falilwalidayni waalaqrabeena waalyatama waalmasakeeni waibni alssabeeli wama tafAAaloo min khayrin fainna Allaha bihi AAaleemun
They ask you what they should spend (in the Way of Allah)? Say: Whatever you spend of good (in the Way of Allah) must be for the parents and the near of kin and the orphans and the needy and the wayfarers, and whatever you do of good, truly, Allah knows it well.

2/Al-Baqara-216: Kutiba AAalaykumu alqitalu wahuwa kurhun lakum waAAasa an takrahoo shayan wahuwa khayrun lakum waAAasa an tuhibboo shayan wahuwa sharrun lakum waAllahu yaAAlamu waantum la taAAlamoona
Fighting is enjoined on you, and (though) it be disliked by you; and it may be that you dislike a thing and (though) it is good for you and it may be that you love a thing and (although) it is bad for you. And Allah knows while you do not know.

2/Al-Baqara-217: Yasaloonaka AAani alshshahri alharami qitalin feehi qul qitalun feehi kabeerun wasaddun AAan sabeeli Allahi wakufrun bihi waalmasjidi alharami waikhraju ahlihi minhu akbaru AAinda Allahi waalfitnatu akbaru mina alqatli wala yazaloona yuqatiloonakum hatta yaruddookum AAan deenikum ini istataAAoo waman yartadid minkum AAan deenihi fayamut wahuwa kafirun faolaika habitat aAAmaluhum fee alddunya waalakhirati waolaika ashabu alnnari hum feeha khalidoona
They ask you concerning fighting in the Sacred Month. Say: Fighting in it is a grave matter (sin), and hindering (men) from Allah’s Way and denying (disbelieving in) Him, and (hindering men from) the Sacred Mosque and turning its people out of it, are still graver with Allah; and persecution (discord) is worse than killing. And they will not cease fighting with you until they turn you back from your religion, if they can; and whosoever of you turns back from his religion, then he dies while an unbeliever, and these it is whose works shall go for nothing in this world and the Hereafter, and they are the inmates of the Fire. They shall abide in it forever.

2/Al-Baqara-218: Inna allatheena amanoo waallatheena hajaroo wajahadoo fee sabeeli Allahi olaika yarjoona rahmata Allahi waAllahu ghafoorun raheemun
Verily, those who believe (became âmenû) and emigrate (to escape persecution because of their religion) and strive hard in the Way of Allah, these hope for the Mercy of Allah and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

2/Al-Baqara-219: Yasaloonaka AAani alkhamri waalmaysiri qul feehima ithmun kabeerun wamanafiAAu lilnnasi waithmuhuma akbaru min nafAAihima wayasaloonaka matha yunfiqoona quli alAAafwa kathalika yubayyinu Allahu lakumu alayati laAAallakum tatafakkaroona
They ask you about the intoxicants and gambling. Say: In both of them there is a great sin and means of profit for men, but the sin of them is greater than their profit. And they ask you what they ought to spend (for the sake of Allah)? Say: That which is beyond your needs. Thus Allah makes clear to you the Verses (Signs), so that you may ponder (over the wisdom contained in them).

2/Al-Baqara-220: Fee alddunya waalakhirati wayasaloonaka AAani alyatama qul islahun lahum khayrun wain tukhalitoohum faikhwanukum waAllahu yaAAlamu almufsida mina almuslihi walaw shaa Allahu laaAAnatakum inna Allaha AAazeezun hakeemun
in (about) the world and the Hereafter. And they ask you about the orphans, Say: Improving them is good, and if you are mixed with them (if you are living with them) they are then your brothers. And Allah knows the spoiler from the improver. And if Allah had wished, He could have put you into difficulties. Truly, Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.

2/Al-Baqara-221: Wala tankihoo almushrikati hatta yuminna walaamatun muminatun khayrun min mushrikatin walaw aAAjabatkum wala tunkihoo almushrikeena hatta yuminoo walaAAabdun muminun khayrun min mushrikin walaw aAAjabakum olaika yadAAoona ila alnnari waAllahu yadAAoo ila aljannati waalmaghfirati biithnihi wayubayyinu ayatihi lilnnasi laAAallahum yatathakkaroona
Do not marry the idolatresses (women who assign partners to Allah, polytheists...) until they believe (became âmenû) and certainly a believing slavegirl is better than a (free) idolatress (polytheist)even though she should please you.

2/Al-Baqara-222: Wayasaloonaka AAani almaheedi qul huwa athan faiAAtaziloo alnnisaa fee almaheedi wala taqraboohunna hatta yathurna faitha tatahharna fatoohunna min haythu amarakumu Allahu inna Allaha yuhibbu alttawwabeena wayuhibbu almutatahhireena
And they ask you about menstruation. Say: it is a hurt (a harmful thing); therefore keep aloof from the women during menses and do not go near them until they have become clean; then when they have cleansed themselves, go to them in which Allah has commanded you. Surely Allah loves those who turn much (to Him) and He loves those who strive to keep themselves clean.

2/Al-Baqara-223: Nisaokum harthun lakum fatoo harthakum anna shitum waqaddimoo lianfusikum waittaqoo Allaha waiAAlamoo annakum mulaqoohu wabashshiri almumineena
Your wives are a tilth for you, so go into your tilth as (when, how) you will and advance (good deeds that will increase your degrees) for yourselves, and have piety (takwâ), and know that you shall meet Him and give glad tidings to the believers.

2/Al-Baqara-224: Wala tajAAaloo Allaha AAurdatan liaymanikum an tabarroo watattaqoo watuslihoo bayna alnnasi waAllahu sameeAAun AAaleemun
Do not make Allah, because of your oaths, an obstacle to your being the owners of All-Birr (that make you worthy of Paradise) to your having piety (takwâ) and to your making peace (improving) between men, and Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower.

2/Al-Baqara-225: La yuakhithukumu Allahu biallaghwi fee aymanikum walakin yuakhithukum bima kasabat quloobukum waAllahu ghafoorun haleemun
Allah does not call you to account for what is vain (unintentional) in your oaths, but He calls you to account for what your hearts have gained (for the negative degrees, viles and sins) and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Forbearing.

2/Al-Baqara-226: Lillatheena yuloona min nisaihim tarabbusu arbaAAati ashhurin fain faoo fainna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun
Those who swear that they will not go in to their wives should wait four months; so if they go back (to their wives by giving expiation before the term comes to an end), then Allah is surely Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful.

2/Al-Baqara-227: Wain AAazamoo alttalaqa fainna Allaha sameeAAun AAaleemun
And if they (who take such oaths) resolve (decide) upon divorce, then Allah is surely All-Hearer, All-Knower.

2/Al-Baqara-228: Waalmutallaqatu yatarabbasna bianfusihinna thalathata qurooin wala yahillu lahunna an yaktumna ma khalaqa Allahu fee arhamihinna in kunna yuminna biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri wabuAAoolatuhunna ahaqqu biraddihinna fee thalika in aradoo islahan walahunna mithlu allathee AAalayhinna bialmaAAroofi walilrrijali AAalayhinna darajatun waAllahu AAazeezun hakeemun
And the divorced women should keep themselves in waiting for three menstrual courses (they should examine whether they got pregnant); and it is not lawful for them that they should conceal what Allah has created in their wombs, if they believe in Allah and the Last Day; and their husbands have a better right to take them back in the meanwhile if they wish for reconciliation. And they (women) have rights similar to those of (men) in kindness (in a just manner, according to what reasonable=Ma’rûf) but the men are a degree above them, and Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.

2/Al-Baqara-229: Alttalaqu marratani faimsakun bimaAAroofin aw tasreehun biihsanin wala yahillu lakum an takhuthoo mimma ataytumoohunna shayan illa an yakhafa alla yuqeema hudooda Allahi fain khiftum alla yuqeema hudooda Allahi fala junaha AAalayhima feema iftadat bihi tilka hudoodu Allahi fala taAAtadooha waman yataAAadda hudooda Allahi faolaika humu alththalimoona
The divorce is twice, after that, either you retain her on reasonable terms (ma’rûf) or release her with kindness (Ihsân). And it is not lawful for you to take from them anything you have given them, except when both fear that they can not keep up the limits of Allah, there is no sin on either of them for what she gives up to become free thereby. These are the limits of Allah, so do not exceed them, and whoever exceeds the limits of Allah, these it is that are the wrong-doers (unjust).

2/Al-Baqara-230: Fain tallaqaha fala tahillu lahu min baAAdu hatta tankiha zawjan ghayrahu fain tallaqaha fala junaha AAalayhima an yatarajaAAa in thanna an yuqeema hudooda Allahi watilka hudoodu Allahi yubayyinuha liqawmin yaAAlamoona
And if he divorces her (for the third time after he has divorced her for the second time), then she is not lawful unto him thereafter until she has married another husband (and then she became free from that marriage too). Then, if the other husband divorces her, it is no sin (blame) on both of them if they return to each other (by marriage), provided they feel that they can keep up the limits of Allah, and these are the limits of Allah, which He makes plain for a people who know.

2/Al-Baqara-231: Waitha tallaqtumu alnnisaa fabalaghna ajalahunna faamsikoohunna bimaAAroofin aw sarrihoohunna bimaAAroofin wala tumsikoohunna diraran litaAAtadoo waman yafAAal thalika faqad thalama nafsahu wala tattakhithoo ayati Allahi huzuwan waothkuroo niAAmata Allahi AAalaykum wama anzala AAalaykum mina alkitabi waalhikmati yaAAithukum bihi waittaqoo Allaha waiAAlamoo anna Allaha bikulli shayin AAaleemun
When you have divorced the wives and they have reached the end of their waiting periods, then either retain them according to custom and usage (on reasonable basis, with Ma’rûf) or set them free on reasonable basis. But do not take them back to hurt (harm) them so that you exceed the limits (infringe upon her rights), and whoever does this, he indeed is unjust to his own soul. And do not take Allah’s Verses (Signs) for a mockery (jest) and remember the Blessing of Allah upon you and that which He has sent down to you of the Book and the Wisdom, admonishing you thereby; and have piety (Takwâ) towards Allah and know that Allah is the Knower of all things.

2/Al-Baqara-232: Waitha tallaqtumu alnnisaa fabalaghna ajalahunna fala taAAduloohunna an yankihna azwajahunna itha taradaw baynahum bialmaAAroofi thalika yooAAathu bihi man kana minkum yuminu biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri thalikum azka lakum waatharu waAllahu yaAAlamu waantum la taAAlamoona
When you have divorced the wives, and they have reached the end of their waiting periods, then do not prevent them from remarrying their (former) husbands if they agree among themselves in a lawful manner (bi’l ma’rûf, according to custom and usage, on a reasonable basis); with this is admonished he among you who believes in Allah and the Last Day, this is more profitable and purer for you (this is for your being more purified and more refined), and Allah knows and you do not know.

2/Al-Baqara-233: Waalwalidatu yurdiAAna awladahunna hawlayni kamilayni liman arada an yutimma alrradaAAata waAAala almawloodi lahu rizquhunna wakiswatuhunna bialmaAAroofi la tukallafu nafsun illa wusAAaha la tudarra walidatun biwaladiha wala mawloodun lahu biwaladihi waAAala alwarithi mithlu thalika fain arada fisalan AAan taradin minhuma watashawurin fala junaha AAalayhima wain aradtum an tastardiAAoo awladakum fala junaha AAalaykum itha sallamtum ma ataytum bialmaAAroofi waittaqoo Allaha waiAAlamoo anna Allaha bima taAAmaloona baseerun
And the mothers (married or divorced) should suckle their (born) children for two whole years, (that is) for those (parents) who desire to complete the term of suckling, and their maintenance and their clothing must be borne by the father according to custom and usage (on a reasonable basis, bi’l ma’rûf); no soul shall have a burden laid on him greater than he can bear (no soul should be charged beyond his capacity). A mother should not be made to suffer harm because of her child, nor should the one for him the child was borne (the father) because of his child. And a similar duty (devolves) on the (father’s) heir. But if both desire weaning by mutual consent and counsel, there is no sin (blame) on them, and if you wish to engage a wet-nurse for your children, there is no sin on you so long as you pay what you promised for according to custom and usage (on a reasonable basis); and have piety (takwâ) towards Allah and know that Allah is All-Seer of what you do.

2/Al-Baqara-234: Waallatheena yutawaffawna minkum wayatharoona azwajan yatarabbasna bianfusihinna arbaAAata ashhurin waAAashran faitha balaghna ajalahunna fala junaha AAalaykum feema faAAalna fee anfusihinna bialmaAAroofi waAllahu bima taAAmaloona khabeerun
And (as for) those of you who are made to die and leave wives behind, they (wives) should keep themselves in waiting for four months and ten days; then when they have fully attained their term, there is no sin on you for what they do for themselves in a lawful manner (on a reasonable basis, bi’l ma’rûf) and Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do.

2/Al-Baqara-235: Wala junaha AAalaykum feema AAarradtum bihi min khitbati alnnisai aw aknantum fee anfusikum AAalima Allahu annakum satathkuroonahunna walakin la tuwaAAidoohunna sirran illa an taqooloo qawlan maAAroofan wala taAAzimoo AAuqdata alnnikahi hatta yablugha alkitabu ajalahu waiAAlamoo anna Allaha yaAAlamu ma fee anfusikum faihtharoohu waiAAlamoo anna Allaha ghafoorun haleemun
And there is no sin on you if you make a hint of betrothal (to the women who are in the waiting-period) or conceal it (such a desire) in yourself. Allah knows that you will remember them, but do not give them a promise in secret except (a hint of betrothal) that you speak in a lawful manner (according to usage, on a reasonable basis). Do not resolve on the tie of marriage before the end of their waiting-period. And know that Allah knows what is in your souls (’hearts), therefore beware of Him. And know that Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Forbearing.

2/Al-Baqara-236: La junaha AAalaykum in tallaqtumu alnnisaa ma lam tamassoohunna aw tafridoo lahunna fareedatan wamattiAAoohunna AAala almoosiAAi qadaruhu waAAala almuqtiri qadaruhu mataAAan bialmaAAroofi haqqan AAala almuhsineena
There is no sin (blame) on you if you divorce the women while yet you have not touched them, nor appointed unto them their “Mahr” (bridal-money) Provide for them with fairness (according to custom and usage; the wealthy (rich) according to his means and the straitened (the poor) according to his means: This is a binding duty upon the good-doers (Muhsinûn).

2/Al-Baqara-237: Wain tallaqtumoohunna min qabli an tamassoohunna waqad faradtum lahunna fareedatan fanisfu ma faradtum illa an yaAAfoona aw yaAAfuwa allathee biyadihi AAuqdatu alnnikahi waan taAAfoo aqrabu lilttaqwa wala tansawoo alfadla baynakum inna Allaha bima taAAmaloona baseerun
If you divorce them before you have touched (have intercourse with) them and you have appointed for them the Mahr (bridal-money) they pay (to them) half of what you have appointed, unless they (the women) relinquish (it) or (the man’s half) is remitted by him in whose hand is the marriage tie (the bridegroom). And to forgo and give (the other half) is nearer to Al-Takwâ (having piety). And do not forget the Virtue (liberality) between you. Truly, Allah is All-Seer of what you do.

2/Al-Baqara-238: Hafithoo AAala alssalawati waalssalati alwusta waqoomoo lillahi qaniteena
Guard Salâts (the light of benedictions coming from Allah) and the Middle Prayer (continue it in uninterrupted manner). And stand up truly obedient to Allah (in fear mixed with deep respect for a long time).

2/Al-Baqara-239: Fain khiftum farijalan aw rukbanan faitha amintum faothkuroo Allaha kama AAallamakum ma lam takoonoo taAAlamoona
And if you fear (vital danger) then (perform your prayers) while on foot or riding. And when you are in safety, then remember Allah in the manner He has taught you what you did not know (how you will remember Allah).

2/Al-Baqara-240: Waallatheena yutawaffawna minkum wayatharoona azwajan wasiyyatan liazwajihim mataAAan ila alhawli ghayra ikhrajin fain kharajna fala junaha AAalaykum fee ma faAAalna fee anfusihinna min maAAroofin waAllahu AAazeezun hakeemun
And those of you who are made to die and leave behind wives should bequeath for their wives a year’s maintenance and residence without turning them out, but if they (wives) leave, there is no sin on you for that which they do of themselves, provided it is on a reasonable basis. And Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.

2/Al-Baqara-241: Walilmutallaqati mataAAun bialmaAAroofi haqqan AAala almuttaqeena
And for the divorced women, maintenance (should be provided) in fairness (on a reasonable basis). This is a duty on the pious (having piety, takwâ).

2/Al-Baqara-242: Kathalika yubayyinu Allahu lakum ayatihi laAAallakum taAAqiloona
Allah thus make clear to you His Verses (Signs...) in order that you may exercise mind.

2/Al-Baqara-243: Alam tara ila allatheena kharajoo min diyarihim wahum oloofun hathara almawti faqala lahumu Allahu mootoo thumma ahyahum inna Allaha lathoo fadlin AAala alnnasi walakinna akthara alnnasi la yashkuroona
Have you not considered those who went forth from their homes, for fear of death and they were thousands, then Allah said to them: Die; again He gave them life. Truly, Allah is full of Grace to mankind and but most men are not grateful.

2/Al-Baqara-244: Waqatiloo fee sabeeli Allahi waiAAlamoo anna Allaha sameeAAun AAaleemun
And fight in the Way of Allah, and know that Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower.

2/Al-Baqara-245: Man tha allathee yuqridu Allaha qardan hasanan fayudaAAifahu lahu adAAafan katheeratan waAllahu yaqbidu wayabsutu wailayhi turjaAAoona
Who will lend to Allah a generous (goodly) loan so that He may multiply it to him many times over. And Allah straitens and amplifies (the man’s sustenance according to the Divine Law) and to Him you shall be returned.

2/Al-Baqara-246: Alam tara ila almalai min banee israeela min baAAdi moosa ith qaloo linabiyyin lahumu ibAAath lana malikan nuqatil fee sabeeli Allahi qala hal AAasaytum in kutiba AAalaykumu alqitalu alla tuqatiloo qaloo wama lana alla nuqatila fee sabeeli Allahi waqad okhrijna min diyarina waabnaina falamma kutiba AAalayhimu alqitalu tawallaw illa qaleelan minhum waAllahu AAaleemun bialththalimeena
Have you not considered the notables (chiefs, leaders) of the Children of Israel after (the time of) Moses, when they said to a Prophet to theirs: Raise up (appoint) for us a king, (that) we may fight in the Way of Allah. He said: May it not be that you would not fight if fighting is ordained for you? They said: Why should we not fight in Allah’s Way while we have been compelled to abandon our homes and our children. But when fighting was ordained for them, they turned back, except a few of them, and Allah knows the wrong-doers (unjust).

2/Al-Baqara-247: Waqala lahum nabiyyuhum inna Allaha qad baAAatha lakum taloota malikan qaloo anna yakoonu lahu almulku AAalayna wanahnu ahaqqu bialmulki minhu walam yuta saAAatan mina almali qala inna Allaha istafahu AAalaykum wazadahu bastatan fee alAAilmi waaljismi waAllahu yutee mulkahu man yashao waAllahu wasiAAun AAaleemun
And their Prophet said to them: Surely Allah has raised Tâlût (Saul) to be a king over you. They said: How can he hold kingship over us while we are fitter than him for the kingdom, and he has not been given enough wealth. He (the prophet) said: Verily, Allah has chosen him above you and He has increased him abundantly in knowledge and physique and Allah grants His kingdom to whom He wills. And Allah is All-Embracing, All-Knower.

2/Al-Baqara-248: Waqala lahum nabiyyuhum inna ayata mulkihi an yatiyakumu alttabootu feehi sakeenatun min rabbikum wabaqiyyatun mimma taraka alu moosa waalu haroona tahmiluhu almalaikatu inna fee thalika laayatan lakum in kuntum mumineena
And their Prophet said to them: Surely the sign of his kingdom is, that there shall come to you the (wooden) chest in which there is tranquility (Sakînah) from your Lord and a remnant of that which the house (family) of Moses and the house of Aaron left behind, carried by the angels. Verily, in this is a sign for you if you are indeed believers.

2/Al-Baqara-249: Falamma fasala talootu bialjunoodi qala inna Allaha mubtaleekum binaharin faman shariba minhu falaysa minnee waman lam yatAAamhu fainnahu minnee illa mani ightarafa ghurfatan biyadihi fashariboo minhu illa qaleelan minhum falamma jawazahu huwa waallatheena amanoo maAAahu qaloo la taqata lana alyawma bijaloota wajunoodihi qala allatheena yathunnoona annahum mulaqoo Allahi kam min fiatin qaleelatin ghalabat fiatan katheeratan biithni Allahi waAllahu maAAa alssabireena
Then when Saul set out with the army (the forces), he said: Surely Allah will try you (will put you to the test) with a river; whoever then drinks from it, he is not of me, and whoever does not taste of it, he is surely of me, except he who takes (of it) in the hollow of his hand. Yet, they drank of it, all, except a few of them. So when he crossed it together with those who believed with him, they said: We have today no power against Goliath (Jâlût) and his hosts (army). Those who were sure that they would meet their Lord said: How often has a small party vanquished (overcame) a numerous host by Allah’s Leave. And Allah is with the patient. (the owners of Patience).

2/Al-Baqara-250: Walamma barazoo lijaloota wajunoodihi qaloo rabbana afrigh AAalayna sabran wathabbit aqdamana waonsurna AAala alqawmi alkafireena
And when they went out against Goliath and his army (forces, hosts) they said: Our Lord! pour down upon us patience, and make our steps firm and assist us against the disbelieving people.

2/Al-Baqara-251: Fahazamoohum biithni Allahi waqatala dawoodu jaloota waatahu Allahu almulka waalhikmata waAAallamahu mimma yashao walawla dafAAu Allahi alnnasa baAAdahum bibaAAdin lafasadati alardu walakinna Allaha thoo fadlin AAala alAAalameena
So they routed them by Allah’s Leave and David (Dâvûd) killed Goliath and Allah gave him (David) the kingdom (after the death of Saul) and the Wisdom, and taught him of that which He willed. And were it not for Allah’s repelling some men with others, the earth would indeed be full of mischief but Allah is Gracious (full of Bounty) to the worlds.

2/Al-Baqara-252: Tilka ayatu Allahi natlooha AAalayka bialhaqqi wainnaka lamina almursaleena
These are the Verses (Signs) of Allah: We read (and explain) to you with truth and most surely you are (one) of the Messengers).

2/Al-Baqara-253: Tilka alrrusulu faddalna baAAdahum AAala baAAdin minhum man kallama Allahu warafaAAa baAAdahum darajatin waatayna AAeesa ibna maryama albayyinati waayyadnahu biroohi alqudusi walaw shaa Allahu ma iqtatala allatheena min baAAdihim min baAAdi ma jaathumu albayyinatu walakini ikhtalafoo faminhum man amana waminhum man kafara walaw shaa Allahu ma iqtataloo walakinna Allaha yafAAalu ma yureedu
Of those Messengers We have exalted some above others (in virtue); to some of them Allah spoke (directly); and some of them He exalted by degrees; and We gave clear arguments (evidences) to Jesus, the son of Mary, and strengthened (supported him) with the Holy Spirit (Gabriel). And if Allah had willed, those after them would not have fought one with another after the clear arguments had come to them, but they differed (disagreed); so there were some of them who believed and others who disbelieved (denied); and if Allah had willed they would not have fought one with another, but Allah does what He wills.

2/Al-Baqara-254: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo anfiqoo mimma razaqnakum min qabli an yatiya yawmun la bayAAun feehi wala khullatun wala shafaAAatun waalkafiroona humu alththalimoona
O you who believe (are âmenû)! Spend of that with which We have provided for you before a Day comes in which there is no bargaining, neither friendship nor intercession and the unbelievers-they are the wrong-doers (unjust).

2/Al-Baqara-255: Allahu la ilaha illa huwa alhayyu alqayyoomu la takhuthuhu sinatun wala nawmun lahu ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi man tha allathee yashfaAAu AAindahu illa biithnihi yaAAlamu ma bayna aydeehim wama khalfahum wala yuheetoona bishayin min AAilmihi illa bima shaa wasiAAa kursiyyuhu alssamawati waalarda wala yaooduhu hifthuhuma wahuwa alAAaliyyu alAAatheemu
Allah! there is no god but Him, the Everliving, the Self-subsisting by Whom all subsist (Kayyûm); slumber does not overtake Him nor sleep; whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is His; who is he that can intercede with Him but by His Permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them (their past and future), and they cannot comprehend anything out of His knowledge except what He wills. His “Kursî” (litterally a footstool or chair, Knowledge) extends over the heavens and the earth, and the preservation (upholding, supporting) of them both does not tire Him, and He is the Most High, the Most Tremendous.

2/Al-Baqara-256: La ikraha fee alddeeni qad tabayyana alrrushdu mina alghayyi faman yakfur bialttaghooti wayumin biAllahi faqadi istamsaka bialAAurwati alwuthqa la infisama laha waAllahu sameeAAun AAaleemun
There is no compulsion in the Religion; truly (the Way of) the Immaterial Maturity (the Way of Guidance, i.e. of making men reach Allah) has become clearly distinct from (the Way of) “gayy” (the Way to Misguidance, the Way that leads to Satan, into Hell); therefore, whoever disbelieves in (denies) “Tâgût” (Satan and the Way leading to Satan) and believes in Allah, then he has grasped the firmest handhold, which shall not break off, and Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower.

2/Al-Baqara-257: Allahu waliyyu allatheena amanoo yukhrijuhum mina alththulumati ila alnnoori waallatheena kafaroo awliyaohumu alttaghootu yukhrijoonahum mina alnnoori ila alththulumati olaika ashabu alnnari hum feeha khalidoona
Allah is the “Walî” (Protecting Friend) of those who believe (who are âmenû, i.e. who wish to reach Allah before dying). He brings them [the souls (‘hearts) of them] out of the darkness into the light; and (as to) those who disbelieve, their friends are the Tâgût (Satans) (they take satans for friends and Satan does not become friend to anyone). They take them out of the light into the darkness; they are the inmates of the Fire, in it they shall abide forever.

2/Al-Baqara-258: Alam tara ila allathee hajja ibraheema fee rabbihi an atahu Allahu almulka ith qala ibraheemu rabbiya allathee yuhyee wayumeetu qala ana ohyee waomeetu qala ibraheemu fainna Allaha yatee bialshshamsi mina almashriqi fati biha mina almaghribi fabuhita allathee kafara waAllahu la yahdee alqawma alththalimeena
Have you not considered him who disputed (by getting wild) with Abraham about his Lord, because Allah had given him the kingdom? When Abraham said (to him): My Lord is He who gives life and causes to die, he said: I give life and cause death (too). Abraham said: So surely Allah causes the sun to rise from the east, then make it rise from the west; thus he who disbelieved (in Allah) was confounded (baffled) (He could not answer him). And Allah does not make the unjust people attain to Guidance.

2/Al-Baqara-259: Aw kaallathee marra AAala qaryatin wahiya khawiyatun AAala AAurooshiha qala anna yuhyee hathihi Allahu baAAda mawtiha faamatahu Allahu miata AAamin thumma baAAathahu qala kam labithta qala labithtu yawman aw baAAda yawmin qala bal labithta miata AAamin faonthur ila taAAamika washarabika lam yatasannah waonthur ila himarika walinajAAalaka ayatan lilnnasi waonthur ila alAAithami kayfa nunshizuha thumma naksooha lahman falamma tabayyana lahu qala aAAlamu anna Allaha AAala kulli shayin qadeerun
Or the like of him who passed by a town and it had fallen down upon its roofs; he said: How can Allah give life to this town, now that it is dead? And Allah caused him to die, and after a hundred years, brought him back to life. He (Allah) said (to him): How long have you stayed (as dead)? He said: (Perhaps) I stayed (dead) a day or part of a day. He said: Nay, you have remained (dead) for a hundred years; then look at your food and drink: they have not rotted (years have not passed over it ); and look at your ass! And thus We have made of you a sign for the people, and look at the bones, how We bring them together and clothe them with flesh? So (when the ass was brought to life and) everything becomes clear to him, he said: I know (now) that Allah is Powerful over all things.

2/Al-Baqara-260: Waith qala ibraheemu rabbi arinee kayfa tuhyee almawta qala awalam tumin qala bala walakin liyatmainna qalbee qala fakhuth arbaAAatan mina alttayri fasurhunna ilayka thumma ijAAal AAala kulli jabalin minhunna juzan thumma odAAuhunna yateenaka saAAyan waiAAlam anna Allaha AAazeezun hakeemun
And (remember) when Abraham said: My Lord! Show me how You give life to the dead. He (Allah) said: Do you not believe? He (Abraham) said: Yes (I believe), but that my heart may be at rest (satisfied). He said: Then take four of the birds, then cause them to incline towards you (then cut them into pieces) and then place on every hill a part of them, then call them, they will come to you flying; and know that Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.

2/Al-Baqara-261: Mathalu allatheena yunfiqoona amwalahum fee sabeeli Allahi kamathali habbatin anbatat sabAAa sanabila fee kulli sunbulatin miatu habbatin waAllahu yudaAAifu liman yashao waAllahu wasiAAun AAaleemun
The parable (likeness) of those who spend their wealth in Allah’s Way is as the parable of a grain; it grows seven ears, and in each ear there are a hundred grains. Allah gives manifold increase to whom He wills. And Allah is All-Embracing, All-Knower.

2/Al-Baqara-262: Allatheena yunfiqoona amwalahum fee sabeeli Allahi thumma la yutbiAAoona ma anfaqoo mannan wala athan lahum ajruhum AAinda rabbihim wala khawfun AAalayhim wala hum yahzanoona
Those spend their wealth in the Way of Allah, and do not follow up their gifts with reminders of their generosity or injury, their reward is with their Lord. There is no fear on them and they shall not grieve.

2/Al-Baqara-263: Qawlun maAAroofun wamaghfiratun khayrun min sadaqatin yatbaAAuha athan waAllahu ghaniyyun haleemun
Kind speech and forgiveness is better than charity followed by injury, and Allah is Self-Sufficient [Rich (Free of all needs)], and He is Most-Forbearing.

2/Al-Baqara-264: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la tubtiloo sadaqatikum bialmanni waalatha kaallathee yunfiqu malahu riaa alnnasi wala yuminu biAllahi waalyawmi alakhiri famathaluhu kamathali safwanin AAalayhi turabun faasabahu wabilun fatarakahu saldan la yaqdiroona AAala shayin mimma kasaboo waAllahu la yahdee alqawma alkafireena
O you who believe (who are âmenû)! Do not render vain your charity (sadaqah) by reminders of your generosity or by injury, like him who spends his property to be seen of men and does not believe in Allah and the Last Day. His likeness is the likeness of a smooth rock on which is a little dust, then a heavy rain falls upon it, so it leaves it bare. They are not able to do anything with what they have earned. And Allah does not guide the disbelieving people.

2/Al-Baqara-265: Wamathalu allatheena yunfiqoona amwalahumu ibtighaa mardati Allahi watathbeetan min anfusihim kamathali jannatin birabwatin asabaha wabilun faatat okulaha diAAfayni fain lam yusibha wabilun fatallun waAllahu bima taAAmaloona baseerun
And the likeness of those who spend their property seeking Allah’s Pleasure and fixing (this) in their souls (by persevering) is as the likeness of a garden on a height; heavy rain falls on it, so it brings forth its fruit twofold; and if no heavy rain falls upon it, then light rain (is sufficient). And Allah is All-Seer of what you do.

2/Al-Baqara-266: Ayawaddu ahadukum an takoona lahu jannatun min nakheelin waaAAnabin tajree min tahtiha alanharu lahu feeha min kulli alththamarati waasabahu alkibaru walahu thurriyyatun duAAafao faasabaha iAAsarun feehi narun faihtaraqat kathalika yubayyinu Allahu lakumu alayati laAAallakum tatafakkaroona
Would any one of you like to have a garden of palm-trees and vines, with rivers flowing beneath it, with all kinds of fruit for him therein, and old age had stricken him and he has weak offspring (to support) and a whirlwind with fire strikes it and it is (all) consumed by fire? Thus Allah makes plain the Signs to you, so that you may perhaps think (reflect).

2/Al-Baqara-267: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo anfiqoo min tayyibati ma kasabtum wamimma akhrajna lakum mina alardi wala tayammamoo alkhabeetha minhu tunfiqoona walastum biakhitheehi illa an tughmidoo feehi waiAAlamoo anna Allaha ghaniyyun hameedun
O you who become âmenû (believe)! spend of the good things which you have earned or what We have brought forth for you out of the earth, and do not aim at what is bad that you may spend (in alms) of it, while you would not take it yourselves unless you close your eyes and know that Allah is Rich (Self-Sufficient) and Praiseworthy.

2/Al-Baqara-268: Alshshaytanu yaAAidukumu alfaqra wayamurukum bialfahshai waAllahu yaAAidukum maghfiratan minhu wafadlan waAllahu wasiAAun AAaleemun
Satan threatens you with poverty and orders you to commit Fahshâ (indecency, immorality, illegal sexual intercourse...) whereas Allah promises you Forgiveness from Himself and abundance (light of Virtue) and Allah is All-Embracing, All-Knower.

2/Al-Baqara-269: Yutee alhikmata man yashao waman yuta alhikmata faqad ootiya khayran katheeran wama yaththakkaru illa oloo alalbabi
He grants Wisdom to whom He pleases, and he to whom Wisdom (Hikmah) is granted is indeed given a great good and none remember (deliberate, receive admonition) except “Ûli’l elbâb” [the owners of the innermost secret treasuries of Allah because of their continuous dhikr).

2/Al-Baqara-270: Wama anfaqtum min nafaqatin aw nathartum min nathrin fainna Allaha yaAAlamuhu wama lilththalimeena min ansarin
And whatever you spend out of spendings or whatever vow you make of vow, surely Allah knows it (all), and for the wrong-doers there are no helpers.

2/Al-Baqara-271: In tubdoo alssadaqati faniAAimma hiya wain tukhfooha watutooha alfuqaraa fahuwa khayrun lakum wayukaffiru AAankum min sayyiatikum waAllahu bima taAAmaloona khabeerun
If you give charity (alms-giving) openly, it is good, and if you hide it and give it to the poor, it is better for you; and this will expiate you some of your evil deeds. And Allah is Well-Acquiainted with what you do.

2/Al-Baqara-272: Laysa AAalayka hudahum walakinna Allaha yahdee man yashao wama tunfiqoo min khayrin falianfusikum wama tunfiqoona illa ibtighaa wajhi Allahi wama tunfiqoo min khayrin yuwaffa ilaykum waantum la tuthlamoona
It is not for you (your duty) their Guidance. But Allah causes him whom He wills to attain to Guidance and whatever you spend in good, it is for yourselves (your souls) and you do not spend but to seek Allah’s Face (Essence) and whatever you spend in good will be paid back to you in full and you shall not be wronged (treated unjustly).

2/Al-Baqara-273: Lilfuqarai allatheena ohsiroo fee sabeeli Allahi la yastateeAAoona darban fee alardi yahsabuhumu aljahilu aghniyaa mina alttaAAaffufi taAArifuhum biseemahum la yasaloona alnnasa ilhafan wama tunfiqoo min khayrin fainna Allaha bihi AAaleemun
(Your spendings and charity are) for the poor who are confined in ( devoted themselves to) the Way of Allah and cannot move about in the earth (gain their livelihood by making trade). The one who does not know them (their state) thinks that they are rich because of their chastity (patience); you can recognise them by their mark; they do not beg from men importunately; and whatever you spend in good, surely Allah knows it well.

2/Al-Baqara-274: Allatheena yunfiqoona amwalahum biallayli waalnnahari sirran waAAalaniyatan falahum ajruhum AAinda rabbihim wala khawfun AAalayhim wala hum yahzanoona
(As for) those who spend their property by night and by day, secretly and openly, now for them is their reward with Allah, and there is no fear on them, nor shall they grieve.

2/Al-Baqara-275: Allatheena yakuloona alrriba la yaqoomoona illa kama yaqoomu allathee yatakhabbatuhu alshshaytanu mina almassi thalika biannahum qaloo innama albayAAu mithlu alrriba waahalla Allahu albayAAa waharrama alrriba faman jaahu mawAAithatun min rabbihi faintaha falahu ma salafa waamruhu ila Allahi waman AAada faolaika ashabu alnnari hum feeha khalidoona
Those who eat the Ribâ (Usury) will not rise (from their graves) except as one whom Satan has prostrated by (his) touch does rise. That is because they say: Trading is only like usury; and Allah has made trading lawful and forbidden usury. To whomsoever then the admonition has come from his Lord, then he desist (from usury), so what has already passed (usury he had taken before) is for him and his affair (decree about him) belongs to Allah; and whoever returns (to usury), these are the inmates of the Fire; they shall abide in it forever.

2/Al-Baqara-276: Yamhaqu Allahu alrriba wayurbee alssadaqati waAllahu la yuhibbu kulla kaffarin atheemin
Allah destroys (removes the fruitfulness of) usury and gives increase (fruitfulness, abundance) for charity (alms...). And Allah does not love the disbelieving (ungrateful) sinners.

2/Al-Baqara-277: Inna allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati waaqamoo alssalata waatawoo alzzakata lahum ajruhum AAinda rabbihim wala khawfun AAalayhim wala hum yahzanoona
Surely they who believe (are âmenû) and do improving deeds and keep up the prayer(s) and give the Zakât (the poor-rate), they will have their reward with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.

2/Al-Baqara-278: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo ittaqoo Allaha watharoo ma baqiya mina alrriba in kuntum mumineena
O you who believe (are âmenû)! Have piety (takwâ) towards Allah and relinquish what remains (due to you) from usury (from now onward), if you are (really) believers.

2/Al-Baqara-279: Fain lam tafAAaloo fathanoo biharbin mina Allahi warasoolihi wain tubtum falakum ruoosu amwalikum la tathlimoona wala tuthlamoona
But if you do not do (it), then be apprised of war from Allah and His Messenger; and if you repent, then you shall have your principal (your capital sums), you shall not (thus) wrong and you shall not be wronged.

2/Al-Baqara-280: Wain kana thoo AAusratin fanathiratun ila maysaratin waan tasaddaqoo khayrun lakum in kuntum taAAlamoona
And if (the debtor) is in straitness (if he will not be able to pay his debt), then let there be postponement until (he is in) ease. And that you remit (it) as alms is better for you if you knew.

2/Al-Baqara-281: Waittaqoo yawman turjaAAoona feehi ila Allahi thumma tuwaffa kullu nafsin ma kasabat wahum la yuthlamoona
And guard yourselves against a Day in which you shall be returned to Allah; then every soul shall be paid back in full what it has earned; and they shall not be dealt with unjustly.

2/Al-Baqara-282: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo itha tadayantum bidaynin ila ajalin musamman faoktuboohu walyaktub baynakum katibun bialAAadli wala yaba katibun an yaktuba kama AAallamahu Allahu falyaktub walyumlili allathee AAalayhi alhaqqu walyattaqi Allaha rabbahu wala yabkhas minhu shayan fain kana allathee AAalayhi alhaqqu safeehan aw daAAeefan aw la yastateeAAu an yumilla huwa falyumlil waliyyuhu bialAAadli waistashhidoo shaheedayni min rijalikum fain lam yakoona rajulayni farajulun waimraatani mimman tardawna mina alshshuhadai an tadilla ihdahuma fatuthakkira ihdahuma alokhra wala yaba alshshuhadao itha ma duAAoo wala tasamoo an taktuboohu sagheeran aw kabeeran ila ajalihi thalikum aqsatu AAinda Allahi waaqwamu lilshshahadati waadna alla tartaboo illa an takoona tijaratan hadiratan tudeeroonaha baynakum falaysa AAalaykum junahun alla taktubooha waashhidoo itha tabayaAAtum wala yudarra katibun wala shaheedun wain tafAAaloo fainnahu fusooqun bikum waittaqoo Allaha wayuAAallimukumu Allahu waAllahu bikulli shayin AAaleemun
O you who believe (are âmenû)! When you deal with each other in contracting a debt for a fixed time, then write it down. Let a scribe write it down between you with fairness (equity); and the scribe should not refuse to write as Allah has taught him, so he should write; and let him who owes the debt dictate. And let him have piety (takwâ) towards Allah, his Lord, (and let him guard himself against His orders) and let him not diminish anything from it (the sum he owes); but if he who owes the debt is unsound in understanding, or weak (little or feeble) or (if) he is not able to dictate himself, let his guardian dictate in justice (with fairness); and call in to witness from among your men two witnesses; but if there are not two men, then one man and two women of such as you approve as witnesses, so that if one of the two (women) commit an error, the other (woman) may remind her; and the witnesses should not refuse when they are summoned; do not become weary to write it (your contract) (whether it is) small or large, together with the date of payment. This is more equitable in the Sight of Allah and assures greater accuracy in testimony and the nearest (way) to prevent doubts among yourselves, except when it is ready merchandise which you give and take among yourselves from hand to hand, then there is no sin on you if you do not write it down. But take witnesses whenever you barter with one another, and let no harm be done to the scribe or to the witness; and if you do (it), then surely it will be wickedness (fısq=going out of the Way of Allah or falling out of it) for you. Have piety (takwâ) towards Allah and Allah teaches you, and Allah is the All-Knower of all things.

2/Al-Baqara-283: Wain kuntum AAala safarin walam tajidoo katiban farihanun maqboodatun fain amina baAAdukum baAAdan falyuaddi allathee itumina amanatahu walyattaqi Allaha rabbahu wala taktumoo alshshahadata waman yaktumha fainnahu athimun qalbuhu waAllahu bima taAAmaloona AAaleemun
If you are on a journey and you do not find a scribe, then let there be a pledge taken (from the debtor) (this is sufficient); then he who is trusted should deliver his trust (his debt) and let him have piety (takwâ) towards Allah, his Lord, and do not conceal testimony, and whoever conceals it, his heart is surely sinful and Allah is the All-Knower of what you do.

2/Al-Baqara-284: Lillahi ma fee alssamawati wama fee alardi wain tubdoo ma fee anfusikum aw tukhfoohu yuhasibkum bihi Allahu fayaghfiru liman yashao wayuAAaththibu man yashao waAllahu AAala kulli shayin qadeerun
Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is Allah’s; and whether you manifest what is in your souls (in yourselves) or hide it, Allah will call you to account for it. Then He forgives whom He wills and torments (punishes) whom He wills. And Allah has Power over all things.

2/Al-Baqara-285: Amana alrrasoolu bima onzila ilayhi min rabbihi waalmuminoona kullun amana biAllahi wamalaikatihi wakutubihi warusulihi la nufarriqu bayna ahadin min rusulihi waqaloo samiAAna waataAAna ghufranaka rabbana wailayka almaseeru
The Messenger believes in what has been sent down to him from his Lord and (so do) the believers; they all believe in Allah and His angels and His Books and His Messengers; We make no distinction between any of His Messengers; and they say: We hear and obey, our Lord! (We seek) Your Forgiveness, our Lord and to You is the journeying.

2/Al-Baqara-286: La yukallifu Allahu nafsan illa wusAAaha laha ma kasabat waAAalayha ma iktasabat rabbana la tuakhithna in naseena aw akhtana rabbana wala tahmil AAalayna isran kama hamaltahu AAala allatheena min qablina rabbana wala tuhammilna ma la taqata lana bihi waoAAfu AAanna waighfir lana wairhamna anta mawlana faonsurna AAala alqawmi alkafireena
Allah does not burden a soul but to the extent of his ability; for it is (the benefit of) what it has earned, and upon it (the evil of) what it has earned. Our Lord! Do not take us to task if we forget or make a mistake. Our Lord! do not lay on us a burden as You did lay on those before us. Our Lord! Do not impose upon us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Pardon us and grant us Forgiveness. Have mercy on us. You are our Patron (Maulâ, Befriender Supporter, Protector...) so help us against the unbelieving people (Give us victory over the disbelieving people).
