46/Al-Ahqaf-1: Hameem
Hâ-Mîm. [These disjointed letters are one of the miracles of the Qur’ân, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings].
46/Al-Ahqaf-2: Tanzeelu alkitabi mina Allahi alAAazeezi alhakeemi
The descent (the revelation) of the Book is from Allah, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.
46/Al-Ahqaf-3: Ma khalaqna alssamawati waalarda wama baynahuma illa bialhaqqi waajalin musamman waallatheena kafaroo AAamma onthiroo muAAridoona
We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them two except with the truth and (for) a named (appointed) term; and those who disbelieve turn aside from what they are warned of.
46/Al-Ahqaf-4: Qul araaytum ma tadAAoona min dooni Allahi aroonee matha khalaqoo mina alardi am lahum shirkun fee alssamawati eetoonee bikitabin min qabli hatha aw atharatin min AAilmin in kuntum sadiqeena
Say: Have you considered what you call upon besides Allah? Show me what they have created of the earth, or have they a share in the heavens? Bring me a Book before this or some trace of knowledge, if you are truthful.
46/Al-Ahqaf-5: Waman adallu mimman yadAAoo min dooni Allahi man la yastajeebu lahu ila yawmi alqiyamati wahum AAan duAAaihim ghafiloona
And who is in greater Misguidance than he who calls besides Allah upon those that will not answer him till the Day of Resurrection and they are heedless (unaware) of the call (Prayer)?
46/Al-Ahqaf-6: Waitha hushira alnnasu kanoo lahum aAAdaan wakanoo biAAibadatihim kafireena
And when mankind are gathered together, they shall be enemies for them, and shall be deniers of their worshipping (them).
46/Al-Ahqaf-7: Waitha tutla AAalayhim ayatuna bayyinatin qala allatheena kafaroo lilhaqqi lamma jaahum hatha sihrun mubeenun
And when mankind are gathered together, they shall be enemies for them, and shall be deniers of their worshipping (them).
46/Al-Ahqaf-8: Am yaqooloona iftarahu qul ini iftaraytuhu fala tamlikoona lee mina Allahi shayan huwa aAAlamu bima tufeedoona feehi kafa bihi shaheedan baynee wabaynakum wahuwa alghafooru alrraheemu
Or do they say: He has forged it? Say: If I have forged it, still you have no power to prevent anything (that will come) for me from Allah; He knows best that which (calumnies) into which you have plunged. He is enough as a Witness (to the Qur’ân) between me and you, and He is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
46/Al-Ahqaf-9: Qul ma kuntu bidAAan mina alrrusuli wama adree ma yufAAalu bee wala bikum in attabiAAu illa ma yooha ilayya wama ana illa natheerun mubeenun
I am not a new thing (an upstart) among the Messengers [I am not the first of the Messengers; I have not brought a different new thing from the (other Messengers) and I do not know what will be done with me or with you; I do not depend on (follow) anything but that which is revealed to me, and I am nothing but a plain warner.
46/Al-Ahqaf-10: Qul araaytum in kana min AAindi Allahi wakafartum bihi washahida shahidun min banee israeela AAala mithlihi faamana waistakbartum inna Allaha la yahdee alqawma alththalimeena
Say: Have you ever considered: if it (this Qur’ân) is from Allah, and you deny it (disbelieve in it), and a witness from among the Children of Israel has borne witness to the like of it, so he believed, while you are big with pride (what would be then your end?); surely Allah does not make the unjust people attain to Guidance.
46/Al-Ahqaf-11: Waqala allatheena kafaroo lillatheena amanoo law kana khayran ma sabaqoona ilayhi waith lam yahtadoo bihi fasayaqooloona hatha ifkun qadeemun
And those who disbelieve say of those who believe (who wish to reach Allah before dying): If it had been a good, they would not have gone ahead of us in it (in respecting it and in believing in it). And as they cannot attain to Guidance by it (the Qur’ân), they say: This is an ancient lie.
46/Al-Ahqaf-12: Wamin qablihi kitabu moosa imaman warahmatan wahatha kitabun musaddiqun lisanan AAarabiyyan liyunthira allatheena thalamoo wabushra lilmuhsineena
And before it there was the Book of Moses as a Guide and a Mercy; and this is a Book verifying (it) in the Arabic language that it may warn those who do wrong and as glad tidings to the good-doers (Muhsinûn).
46/Al-Ahqaf-13: Inna allatheena qaloo rabbuna Allahu thumma istaqamoo fala khawfun AAalayhim wala hum yahzanoona
Surely those who say: Our Lord is Allah and thereafter are on the Direction (to Allah), there is no fear for them, nor do they grieve.
46/Al-Ahqaf-14: Olaika ashabu aljannati khalideena feeha jazaan bima kanoo yaAAmaloona
These are the dwellers of the Garden (Paradise) abiding therein (forever): a reward for what they used to do.
46/Al-Ahqaf-15: Wawassayna alinsana biwalidayhi ihsanan hamalathu ommuhu kurhan wawadaAAathu kurhan wahamluhu wafisaluhu thalathoona shahran hatta itha balagha ashuddahu wabalagha arbaAAeena sanatan qala rabbi awziAAnee an ashkura niAAmataka allatee anAAamta AAalayya waAAala walidayya waan aAAmala salihan tardahu waaslih lee fee thurriyyatee innee tubtu ilayka wainnee mina almuslimeena
And We have enjoined on man to treat his parents with kindness; with trouble (hardship) did his mother bear him and with hardship did she bring him forth; and the bearing of him and the weaning of him was thirty months; until when he attains his maturity (his full strength) and reaches forty years, he says: My Lord! Make me successful in giving thanks for Your Blessings which You have bestowed on me and on my parents and in doing improving deeds which please You and amend (ameliorate) my offspring; surely I turn to you in repentance and surely I am of those who surrender (to You).
46/Al-Ahqaf-16: Olaika allatheena nataqabbalu AAanhum ahsana ma AAamiloo wanatajawazu AAan sayyiatihim fee ashabi aljannati waAAda alssidqi allathee kanoo yooAAadoona
These are they from whom We accept the best of what they have done (We grant to them from I to 700 degrees) and pass over their evil deeds (We blot them out and change them into rewards). (They are) among the dwellers of the Garden; that which they have been promised is a true promise.
46/Al-Ahqaf-17: Waallathee qala liwalidayhi offin lakuma ataAAidaninee an okhraja waqad khalati alquroonu min qablee wahuma yastagheethani Allaha waylaka amin inna waAAda Allahi haqqun fayaqoolu ma hatha illa asateeru alawwaleena
And he (who) says to his parents: Fie on you (I am fed up with you)! Dou you threaten me that I shall be taken out (of the grave after death)? Whereas many a generation has passed away before me (without rising) And they both call for Allah’s aid: Woe to you! Believe, surely the Promise of Allah is true. But he says: This is nothing but tales of the ancients.
46/Al-Ahqaf-18: Olaika allatheena haqqa AAalayhimu alqawlu fee umamin qad khalat min qablihim mina aljinni waalinsi innahum kanoo khasireena
These are they against whom the Word (of torment) is justified (has proved true) among nations (communities) of the jinn and the men that have already passed away before them; surely they are in a Loss (Husrân).
46/Al-Ahqaf-19: Walikullin darajatun mimma AAamiloo waliyuwaffiyahum aAAmalahum wahum la yuthlamoona
And for all are degrees according to what they did, and that He may pay them back fully their deeds and they shall not be wronged.
46/Al-Ahqaf-20: Wayawma yuAAradu allatheena kafaroo AAala alnnari athhabtum tayyibatikum fee hayatikumu alddunya waistamtaAAtum biha faalyawma tujzawna AAathaba alhooni bima kuntum tastakbiroona fee alardi bighayri alhaqqi wabima kuntum tafsuqoona
And on the Day when those who disbelieve are exposed to the Fire, (it will be said to them): You did away with your good (and clean) things (according to you) in your life of the world and you enjoyed them for a while, so this Day you shall be rewarded with the torment of abasement because you were proud in the land without any right and because you used to transgress (you were not in the Way of Allah).
46/Al-Ahqaf-21: Waothkur akha AAadin ith anthara qawmahu bialahqafi waqad khalati alnnuthuru min bayni yadayhi wamin khalfihi alla taAAbudoo illa Allaha innee akhafu AAalaykum AAathaba yawmin AAatheemin
And remember (mention, Hûd) the brother of ‘Âd, when he warned his people in Al-Ahqâf (the wind-curved sandhills in the southern part of Arabian Peninsula)-and indeed warners came before him and after him-(saying): Serve none but Allah; surely I fear for you the torment of a mighty day.
46/Al-Ahqaf-22: Qaloo ajitana litafikana AAan alihatina fatina bima taAAiduna in kunta mina alssadiqeena
They said: Have you come to us to turn (seduce) us away from our gods? Then bring us that you threaten us with, if you are of the truthful ones.
46/Al-Ahqaf-23: Qala innama alAAilmu AAinda Allahi waoballighukum ma orsiltu bihi walakinnee arakum qawman tajhaloona
He said: The knowledge (of that torment) is only with Allah, and I convey to you that with which I have been sent, but I see you a people who are ignorant (who act foolishly).
46/Al-Ahqaf-24: Falamma raawhu AAaridan mustaqbila awdiyatihim qaloo hatha AAaridun mumtiruna bal huwa ma istaAAjaltum bihi reehun feeha AAathabun aleemun
Then, when they saw it (the torment) as a dense cloud coming towards their valleys, they said: This is a (dense) cloud which will give us rain. Nay! it is what you sought to hasten on, a (blast of) wind in which is a painful torment (punishment).
46/Al-Ahqaf-25: Tudammiru kulla shayin biamri rabbiha faasbahoo la yura illa masakinuhum kathalika najzee alqawma almujrimeena
Destroying everything by the Command of its Lord; so they became such that nothing could be seen except their dwellings. Thus do We reward (punish) the criminal (guilty) people.
46/Al-Ahqaf-26: Walaqad makkannahum feema in makkannakum feehi wajaAAalna lahum samAAan waabsaran waafidatan fama aghna AAanhum samAAuhum wala absaruhum wala afidatuhum min shayin ith kanoo yajhadoona biayati Allahi wahaqa bihim ma kanoo bihi yastahzioona
And certainly We had established (empowered) them (in) that with which We have not established (empowered) you and We had assigned them the (faculties of) hearing, seeing and hearts; but their hearing and seeing and their hearts did not avail them nothing since they used to deny the Verses (Signs) of Allah knowingly and that which they mocked at encompassed (completely encircled) them.
46/Al-Ahqaf-27: Walaqad ahlakna ma hawlakum mina alqura wasarrafna alayati laAAallahum yarjiAAoona
And certainly We destroyed (most of) the towns which are around you, and We have (repeatedly) explained (them) the Signs in various ways that they might return (to the Truth).
46/Al-Ahqaf-28: Falawla nasarahumu allatheena ittakhathoo min dooni Allahi qurbanan alihatan bal dalloo AAanhum wathalika ifkuhum wama kanoo yaftaroona
Then why did those whom they had taken for gods besides Allah, as a way of approach (to Allah) not help them? Nay! They vanished completely from them (when there came the torment); and this was their lies and what they forged.
46/Al-Ahqaf-29: Waith sarafna ilayka nafaran mina aljinni yastamiAAoona alqurana falamma hadaroohu qaloo ansitoo falamma qudiya wallaw ila qawmihim munthireena
And when We turned towards you a party (3 to 10 persons) of the jinn who listened to the Qur’ân; so when he came to it, they said: Be silent (give ear); then when it (the recitation of the Qur’ân) was finished, they turned back to their people, as warners.
46/Al-Ahqaf-30: Qaloo ya qawmana inna samiAAna kitaban onzila min baAAdi moosa musaddiqan lima bayna yadayhi yahdee ila alhaqqi waila tareeqin mustaqeemin
They said: O our people! We have heard (listened to) a Book (the Qur’ân) sent down after Moses, verifying (conforming) that which is before it, guiding to the Truth (Hakk, Allah) and to a Road directed (towards Allah) [Tarîk-i Mustakîm]:
46/Al-Ahqaf-31: Ya qawmana ajeeboo daAAiya Allahi waaminoo bihi yaghfir lakum min thunoobikum wayujirkum min AAathabin aleemin
O our people! Respond (with obedience) to the caller of Allah and believe in Him, that He may forgive you of your faults (sins) and guard you from a painful torment.
46/Al-Ahqaf-32: Waman la yujib daAAiya Allahi falaysa bimuAAjizin fee alardi walaysa lahu min doonihi awliyaa olaika fee dalalin mubeenin
And whosoever does not respond to Allah’s Caller, he cannot render (Allah) impotent in the earth (he cannot escape on earth) and there are no protecting friends for him besides Allah. These are in manifest Misguidance.
46/Al-Ahqaf-33: Awalam yaraw anna Allaha allathee khalaqa alssamawati waalarda walam yaAAya bikhalqihinna biqadirin AAala an yuhyiya almawta bala innahu AAala kulli shayin qadeerun
Have they not seen that Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth and was not wearied by their creation, is Able to give life to the dead? Yes! He has surely Power over all things.
46/Al-Ahqaf-34: Wayawma yuAAradu allatheena kafaroo AAala alnnari alaysa hatha bialhaqqi qaloo bala warabbina qala fathooqoo alAAathaba bima kuntum takfuroona
And on the Day when those who disbelieve are exposed to the Fire (it will be said to them): Is this not true (the truth)? They shall say: Yes, by Our Lord! He will say: Then taste the Torment, because you used to disbelieve!
46/Al-Ahqaf-35: Faisbir kama sabara oloo alAAazmi mina alrrusuli wala tastaAAjil lahum kaannahum yawma yarawna ma yooAAadoona lam yalbathoo illa saAAatan min naharin balaghun fahal yuhlaku illa alqawmu alfasiqoona
Therefore be patient (bear up patiently) as did the Messengers (the Prophets) endowed with constancy (bear up with patience) and be in no haste about them. On the Day when they shall see that (Torment) with which they are promised (threatened) they shall be as if they had not stayed more than an hour of the day. (This is) a Message. Shall then any be destroyed except the transgressing (Fâsiqûn) people?
